Dude Moonroof, we can't predict the future like that. You need to be able to react as new information comes in. Sell when it's a good decision to sell, but that could be in an hour, it could be Friday, it could be in a year. We don't know.

Robinhood finally went from 1.1 to 1.0 on the Play Store. You love to see it.

Still deciding which service to shift to. It seems like E-Trade is favored so far. Not looking forward to the $75 transfer fee, but at least that'll be the last time Robinhood has me over a barrel.

I use TD and havent had many problems with them. The complicated options ban on GME was a little annoying but given how you can use it for pure gambling I think it was an ok move

I have literally learned everything I know about this in the last 24 hours but from what I understand, estimates about when shorts become due are just based on how much the hedge fund averages moving per day?

And as long as they are willing to pay daily interest on the stocks theyve borrowed they can technically hold out as long as they want before they buy back?

Obviously thats just throwing money away praying the stock drops to the point where they dont lose their ass, and because of that, every day they get squeezed tighter

This is speculation:

So some of these brokerages may be afraid they have major exposure if this does squeeze to 1000+. They have not been maintaining margin requirements for shorts needed to deal with a sudden squeeze to 1000+, so if it happens the broker would be on the hook. If they are indeed manipulating prices to protect themselves from liability they incurred with too lax margin requirements for shorts, that is probably illegal.

A coworker was telling me that the reason these platforms are restricting trading is to protect themselves for when investors lose money and want to sue them....

Makes no sense but lets add it to the fray!

That's what they say but I think my theory is much more plausible. If they have a margin requirement of 100%, what do they do when a short loses 1000% and they can't close the position in time? The brokerage eats a loss of 800%.....I dunno how many people at non-prime brokerages are shorting, but even with a pretty small number, that could be very very expensive.

but the people on WSB seem to believe the dips are brought about by the hedgies tap selling back and forth to each other to drive the price down and scare away as many paper hands as they thought.

I think a lot of the banning doesn't just have to do with these short squeeze stocks, but the entire market as a whole. This WSB stuff has caught on so much that it was affecting the market at large and other stocks were going down because of it.

So rather than just pissing off a few hedge funds that recklessly shorted these stocks, they pissed off the entirety of Wall Street. Wall Street is reclaiming their power.

Fuck I hope this just gets uglier from here. GME to a million!

Thats a pretty good target imo, but realize this might take a few days. no way it crashes below what it was before the pump so 5ish, so you need to hold even if it drops to the 5's
