Ermine (5) - Sword Doggo is good.
Luster Soldier (5) - Very cool looking wolf legendary Pokemon. This thing having a Fairy type is unusual as the design is very atypical for a Fairy type (not the typical cute and/or feminine vibe usually seen in Fairy types). Base form is pure Fairy, but the Crowned Sword form has a secondary Steel type and is the true form of Zacian (and the one used in marketing the Sword/Shield games). This is also a insane powerhouse in the Sword/Shield Dynamax raids due to having a move that deals double damage to a Dynamaxed target. It even got a nerf in Gen 9 (along with Zamazenta) as it was a bit too overpowered.
PrinceKaro (10) - this rating based on armorless form, the dogs look stupid and overdesigned with their armor
Bane_Of_Despair (12) - Sword doggo! It's a little cheap to do, but throw a sword in a dog's mouth to use in battle and I'm sold. It being Fairy type is a pretty cute idea too what with it kind of going with the sword/shield legend theme a bit. Typing wise the Fairy/Steel is pretty cool too. I think GameFreak does a good job with the potential of a sword-in-mouth dog, like I'd take Repede and Sif over Zacian but Zacian still works.
Inviso (16) - Easily the better design of the legendary dogs, but I wish it was Fairy/Fighting instead of Fairy/Steel.
Raka_Putra (20) - Its name origins is so stupid
XIII_Rocks (38) - Would have been a lot higher, but got slightly ruined by Pokemon Go GBL.
andylt (63) - As far as dogs-with-swords-in-their-mouths go, this is one of them.

XIII_Rocks (3) - Ursaluna was always going to be high, but a second playthrough of Arceus coupled with the reveal of its amazing Blood Moon form tipped it into the higher reaches. Great design, great power, interesting typing, and now an excellent alternate form.
hotdogturtle (5) - I didn't think that I'd like an Ursaring evolution if you told me beforehand, but man it turned into a beast of a Pokemon once it could be transferred into the main games.
DragonGargoyle (7) - Haven't played PLA, but design + lore + play as a poke
Inviso (7) - Absolute combat beast, managing to be both a beefy tank, while having the offensive stats to back it up.

PrinceOfKoopas (27) - Well, thanks to it, Ursaring can get Eviolite.
Bane_Of_Despair (30) - It's a bear. That's it, and that works! It's a good bear. I like that it's more like a typical bear to stand out from its previous form.
Luster Soldier (40) - A cross-generation evolution of Ursaring first introduced in Legends: Arceus. Although not relevant to this ranking project since were only doing Gen 8, Ursaluna has a new form in Gen 9 known as the Bloodmoon Form which is a bipedal design instead of the quadrupedal design of regular Ursaluna. Strangely enough, the Bloodmoon Form is a standalone form of Ursaluna that cant be obtained by simply evolving Ursaring (which evolves into the original Ursaluna).
Ermine (79) - Ursaring looks like a badass. This does not.
Paratroopa1 (81) - not great
andylt (82) - I hate its moon forehead and weird eyebrows, and the colouring is bad. Ursaring was a good choice to give an evo but this doesn't do it for me at all!
Eddv (93) - trashmon

Luster Soldier (7) - This is such an adorable little sheep. It's also one of the few times where I consider the first stage to be vastly superior to its evolutions. I think this one should fare quite well in the overall rankings because it does "cute" in an acceptable way by being based on an animal and avoiding feminine vibes.

Bane_Of_Despair (46) - Pretty much a perfect sheep Pokemon, they really nailed this and they knew it with how early they showed it off.
Inviso (56) - It's very cute, especially with the rolling gimmick, but it just doesn't do anything new or exciting for an early-route Pokemon.
mnk (57) - It's a little too cute in the wrong kind of way for me.
andylt (66) - Never got the appeal of this thing. It's a round sheep. OK! I don't like when things seem designed solely to be cutesy/marketable rather than naturally reaching that state. We already have a superior sheep, and that one's electric!

Eddv just unceremoniously dumped all the Arceus mons at the very bottom, except for Basculegion.

Ursaluna has very few things going for it

I don't think I knew about Ursaluna's Blood Moon form when I submitted my ranking, otherwise I would have ranked it considerably higher.

The Blood Moon form is amazing, regular Ursaluna is just whatever.

Oh good, I was worried Wooloo would be Top 10. I think it's really just the pigtails that I don't like.

Snom is the best designed Pokemon in like 5 gens

Bane_Of_Despair (21) - Cute monkey starter, I'd say it's the better looking of the chimp starters. The little stick is a good addition that of course gets expanded on with later evolutions.
hotdogturtle (24) - It's been a long time since I was impressed by the design quality of a first-stage starter Pokemon, but this is one of the all time greats.

Inviso (50) - It's cute, but doesn't really stand out all that much to me.

Yamper is borderline boring, but its pleasantly cute enough for me to not want to rank it lower. Sometimes a decent safe design is better than a risky failure. I'm still a cat person though.

As I mentioned with Zamazenta, I see these two as almost the same thing. Surprised I prefer shield doggo, but it's only by the slightest of margins.

Probably would have placed Ursaluna higher if I wasn't blind to most of gen 9's DLC. Its probably the kind of Pokemon I'll go back to and actually use and then go "hey why didn't I like this guy more?" It is on the threshold between good and great and a lack of experience using it is probably what holds it back.

Yeah Krow, I uh wasn't kidding when I said that I preferred Dubwool. Talk about a big upgrade from Wooloo to me. Like don't get me wrong, I love cute, but this looks like it was generated in a lab for the sole purpose of brainwashing people into buying merch. The fact that it rolls around everywhere is the one saving grace.

I'm almost sold on Applin. It just looks a little too dumb for me to vibe with.

Grookey is like the one good monkey Pokemon. Wait I forgot about Annihilape. Nvm.

Seriously. I want to like the bunny but something about just pings "off" to me. It starts with the clothes that look too much like just clothes but not and then goes from there.

I wanted to like the design more but just dont.

Putting an unevolved Pokemon in my top 25 is one of the highest praises that I can give anything. Grookey should be honored to be ranked among regular Pokemon.

Bane_Of_Despair (1) - There are Pokemon that sometimes I feel like are designed just for me, and this is a great example. He's a total rocker, his color scheme is great, and he's a badger. The raccoon-dog -> badger timeline of Zigzagoon is fantastic as they're all great creatures to base a Pokemon on. The tongue out is A+ as well. And we don't talk about the 4x weakness to Fighting type. I hope he places high in this because he's super cool and great.
DragonGargoyle (8) - You can be friends with mean stinky monster
mnk (20) - I was so happy when the first Galarian form trailer was released, and then surprise, Linoone is evolving! It was so dumb they stopped doing cross-gen evolutions for a few generations, and I'm so glad they're fully embracing them again. That was a tangent, but this particular one is pretty good!
Luster Soldier (26) - Probably the most edgelord Pokemon to exist. The design kind of resembles a Gene Simmons cosplay, a member of the band KISS known for performing live with his face painted in black and white (the same colors in Obstagoon's design). PrinceOfKoopas (29) - I like its battle concept.
