Now, as I head into 4.0...I mean, I have Persona 5 Strikers installed, a game I have been waiting for for over a year, and I have no interest in touching it until I at least catch up on MSQ. That should say it all.

I've had a similar problem. I got P5S on early access, but so far I've only put 16 hours into it due to wanting to work on my relics in FFXIV >>

Oh everything about that was rad as fuck.

I am noticing a pattern that a lot of the cooler fights are real easy, though, not that I'm complaining.

That'll happen for most story trials, since you'll get players that are geared out and will wreck bosses, even with the level sync.

All trials do have an Extreme version that ups the difficulty.

Alexander is when they first properly implement Normal and Savage mode raids. Normal mode is effectively the story mode, while the endgame Savage modes are considered non-canon embellishments.

Delubrum Reginae is pretty impressive. That said, most groups have it on autopilot due to the relic, the only question is whether or not people are using the damage essences to speed things along.

I actually missed that one until seeing it in game, great stuff. That said, I did have one thing that is still upcoming for me spoiled by looking at an actors credits, not even one known for games.

Yeah, the other unintended side effect of the move to the London studio is that said studio somehow has the ability to nab fairly high profile actors to do VA work. That leads to FFXIV popping up on the filmography for certain Game of Thrones actors.

Quick note so you don't get totally blindsided - all (except for like one dude) the voice actors are changed after ARR. I'm still not sure why, probably something to do with licensing. They've stayed consistent since then. I would say that the voices are generally either a sidegrade or a mild improvement, although it took me some time to get used to them.

There's also Alisaie, who has a pretty good voice performance in subsequent expansions and has maybe the worst modern dub performance I've ever heard in her scenes in ARR. She really brings the ARR average down!

My understanding is that they swapped to a London based studio instead of the LA based one used in ARR. If I would hazard a guess, I'd say they wanted to have actual British actors for the English voice track rather than ask native American actors put on an accent.

And yes, ARR Alisaie was incredibly rough.

Keep in mind the following two non-MSQ steps you'll need to complete before you can finish the post-ARR stretch:

• A Trial sequence against Hard versions of Ifrit, Titan, and Garuda
• The Crystal Tower 24-man raid series

Neither step is too difficult, but you will have to complete them

Even though I'm not aiming to run Ultimates myself, it is a bummer that the new one got pushed back to 6.1. Think the FFXIV team's mistake was pushing the second one to 5.5 to start when they should've stuck to the Stormblood model of X.1 and X.3 patch Ultimates.

For the expansion - I would expect Garlemald ruins at this point, given what we've seen so far in the Post-ShB MSQ. Could be a Stormblood situation where there's multiple areas in the expansions instead of all the new zones being on the same continent/region.

I had a good laugh at one point of the Delubrum quest chain, where Lilja nonchalantly shrugs at the notion of Misija accomplishing her goal of becoming Gunnhildr's vessel by pointing out that we'd kick her ass anyways.

Absolutely need to up the rewards and probably nerf the bosses. Giving zero mettle and zero exp is a baffling design decision. Throwing in memories for the relics would also be a good idea.

5.4 MSQ was a weird combination of tying up an old loose end while trying to set-up the path to the next expansion. Kinda middling, but expected after the highs that 5.3 hit.

Besides, the story highlight for 5.4 was always going to be the conclusion to Eden, which I thought was pretty decent.

Catching up on FFXIV has been an experience. I thought I saw one of the greatest moments I've ever played during Post-Heavensward, but then Shadowbringers happened.

A few stray FFXIV 5.4 endgame thoughts:

• Emerald Weapon Extreme is somehow both a satisfying trial and an annoying one. The second phase has a lot of obscure tells that can seemingly kill you out of nowhere, even if you clearly see yourself in a safe zone. Bad internet is a killer here. Heavily advise against playing Black Mage here if you're getting used to mechanics
• Made it to tiles on E9S via PF shenanigans. There's a mechanic that feels intimidating at first but kinda doesn't feel as bad the more I see it. Naturally, it is PF, so the difficult part is actually getting to the mechanic, as even the parties labeled "Tiles prog" have trouble dealing with brambles.

Find myself drawn to wanting to do PF shenanigans over Cyberpunk. Dunno if that's an indictment on Cyberpunk or praise for FFXIV.

Writing has been okay early on for the main quests. The Gigs side quests are largely inconsequential which is kinda unfortunate, since they make up the bulk of the non Main Story content. Bloody Baron they are not.

Dunno how it is for male V but Cherami Leigh is doing some heavy lifting with her work as female V
