| Seanchan 04/20/24 8:04:14 AM #100 | I've been thinking about maybe taking a more analytical approach to my personal album rankings. The way I figure, there's 2 factors at play: how much I enjoyed the album as a whole, and how many songs I'd listen to individually.
As a recent example, take Innervisions and The Colour and the Shape. Innervisions is much better as an album, but it has no songs I enjoyed more than Everlong and Monkey Wrench. That said, there's no way, for me, that my love for those 2 songs vaults Foo Fighter's album above Stevie's album. And that's just based on "feel"; if I used numbers, those should back that up. Ultimately, that's an easy example though. It's where albums are closer together, or where I'm just not sure, that having numbers could really help. I'm thinking the album grade has 5 levels, in English terms: Great, Good, Fine, Didn't Like, Awful. It wouldn't be a a straight 5-4-3-2-1, maybe something like 20-12-6-2-0? Hmm...that still maybe doesn't seem quite right... For songs, it's probably a straight 1 point per song, with really amazing songs getting an extra 1-2 points. Combine those and I'd get an overall score. Something to play around with at least! I'd have to go back to listen to most albums again but I'm curious if this approach would differ greatly from my current "feel" rankings. @FoolFantastic, I know you have numerical scores on your personal rankings. After everyone thinking it'd be a Spain vs Spain semifinal #1, it's now France vs Germany. Will the same thing happen again tomorrow (now today...), except with England? With the home game, City are still the favorites over Real but with the Blancos and Europe, you never know. Maybe that's why I have struggled getting into WoT, I don't much care for Lord of the Rings for some reason. I think because it's the baseline of high fantasy and has all the regular tropes you'd expect. I love it for all the inspiration it's given to so many authors, but nowadays it's just sorta... boring I guess. It's really Book 2 where WoT comes into its own. My personal favorite of the series. I'm not sure I'd call Spice Girls good, but it's easy listening in a genre I like. Speak Now is earlier Taylor so it's a little more country-ish and less mature/interesting than her later work. I heard they've picked 6 of the hard drives needed for a certain investigation. They still need 6 more, plus a couple of backups in case one of the primary hard drives doesn't work. They picked another hard drive. Some news sites were posting some of the general specs about the hard drives and it made me a little nervous for them. And the highest I was able to find was 2 @ 327.5...thought it was a little better than that but I guess not. Pain free today, so that's a good thing.

| Seanchan 04/14/24 9:06:37 PM #28 | Gave another try to Mecha Ball. With a better understanding of strategy (play slow, use collision first, guns as backup), I was able to actually make progress and got through the first 2 bosses. Died during the 3rd wave of stages.
Still not really feeling it, and the way I need to play to be successful feels like the antithesis of what the game would like for you to be doing. What the fuck is that game? Time limits for exploration. When you die you lose "karma" and apparently there are karma gates?!? Not very good controls. Complete lack of direction. It reminds me of playing Out of This World on SNES, a game that was thrown in when my dad bought the console from a coworker. I had SMW, which is big and bright and fun. And then I had Out of This World, which was weird and odd and completely incomprehensible to an 11 year old. The number of times I died to that fucking beast that chases you at the very beginning... I pretty sure that's a "one and done" for me.
