Because until the consumers change, why wouldn't Starbucks raise their prices?

I understand the bad optics behind raising prices amidst some of the best corporate profits this country has ever seen. I do. But I also accept that nothing is going to change because people still need coffee, gas, and groceries. And the corporations have zero desire to help the consumers so long as they can boost profits.

It sucks, but it's reality.

Yeah this seems to be the best approach. I fully support remote as a viable option for anyone who wants it and isn't required to go onsite for stuff like IT, but at the same time, I recognize the value in a physical office presence once in a while.

The days of full in person 9-5 need to die. The only reason they haven't yet is because these companies spend six figures a month on two floors in a downtown skyscraper for a 10 year lease and they don't like seeing it sit empty, so they force people back to try and justify the spending.

I'm full remote now and it's probably the greatest job-related thing that has ever happened to me. And that includes the time when I got my first offer out of college.

They will pay their seat belt violation fine and move on.

only once that i recall. ironically it was presidents day weekend like 4-5 years ago. i remember craving wings and there was a buffalo wild wings right across the street from me, so i went on over and got some.

spent most of the night doing what everyone else in here has done, which is to say vomiting and diarrheaing everywhere (each time feeling a little bit better afterwards)

it sucked but it was over relatively quickly once the flowing began. just had to get it all out, much like when you're nauseous from alcohol or hangover.

Families of victims killed in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting have reached an agreement to settle a lawsuit against the company that made the murder weapon, for $73 million.

"These nine families have shared a single goal from the very beginning: to do whatever they could to help prevent the next Sandy Hook. It is hard to imagine an outcome that better accomplishes that goal," said Josh Koskoff, an attorney for the victims' families, in a statement on Tuesday.

According to Koskoff's law firm, Remington's four insurers have all agreed to pay the full amount of coverage available, which is the $73 million total. The gun-maker filed for bankruptcy in 2020, and its assets were sold off.

Thousands of pages of internal Remington company documents can also now be made public, according to Koskoff's law firm.

"This victory should serve as a wake-up call not only to the gun industry, but also the insurance and banking companies that prop it up," Koskoff said. "For the gun industry, it's time to stop recklessly marketing all guns to all people for all uses and instead ask how marketing can lower risk rather than court it. For the insurance and banking industries, it's time to recognize the financial cost of underwriting companies that elevate profit by escalating risk. Our hope is that this victory will be the first boulder in the avalanche that forces that change."

Attorneys for Remington did not immediately reply to a request for comment.

The Dec. 14, 2012, shooting at the Newtown, Conn., school left 20 students and six educators dead.
Two years later, relatives of victims sued the Remington Arms Co. in a Connecticut court. They alleged that the manufacturer marketed and sold assault rifles to civilians, "prioritizing profit over public safety."

Now, that suit has come to a close. "The plaintiffs in this action hereby give Notice that a settlement agreement has been executed between the parties," read a Tuesday filing from attorneys representing the estates of people killed in the shooting.

Jury selection in the 7-year-old case was set to begin this September. But now, according to the filing signed by Koskoff, there's a request for a hearing to have the case withdrawn.

It's still what it is. I launch it when I'm going out to get groceries and shit, and I fight the team rocket dudes for eggs and potentially shiny shadow pokemon. I'll save poke balls for big excursions and use the physical poke ball catcher when I'm going somewhere like the mall or Vegas to just catch a bunch of shit at once and clear inventory space.

Yeah the price increase for my last stay was about another $30 for four total nights (not PER night) for the stay well so I gave it a shot. I think I'd accept the upgrade for that price again but no more. It's all pretty useless stuff at the end of the day except the mattress and white noise.
