phew finally out of the waterways and back to rabinstre.

question is there a way to get my party members to charge at the opponent I target without me having to get close? i'm a machinist and so i use a gun and attack from range. so basically i'll queue my attack and when i get close enough to the foe, it'll fire. however what i would ideally like is for my close-range ally/allies to run ahead of me, as opposed to waiting until I finally get close, at which point i end up hitting first and taking the aggro.

gambits are on and set up to target foe that is targeted by party leader, but the problem is that they just don't engage until i get close enough to aggro the enemy.

My thinking is, general consensus seems that weed will eventually take off once legislation picks up on decriminalization or legalization or whatever, so at the end of the day, it boils down to if you believe in them as a company or not. If not, you might be better suited to try a different weed company that hasn't gotten memed like SNDL has.

Just got captured and thrown into the prison/dungeon area. Got our weapons back with Fran and the other guy whose name I'm blanking on. At the part where the spider things drain the batteries, think I just got through a gate and hit a save point.

Getting a little miffed at dungeon after dungeon after dungeon -- the opening of the game was fun with lots of areas to traverse and find spells and do hunts, but between getting into the palace through the sewers, then getting thrown into the prison area, and then entering a new dungeon area, I'm hoping this ends soon.

The license system is interesting, though I made vaan a machinst and have found zero skills from that board to use, I'm still stuck on attacking and stealing. I'm sure that'll change soon enough.

(Zodiac Age on gamepass since apparently this version is a little different from the OG)

Amy Cooper, a white dog owner who was at the center of a controversial encounter with a Black man bird-watching in New York's Central Park last year, had her misdemeanor charge stemming from that incident dropped on Tuesday.

The woman had been facing a charge of falsely reporting an incident to police after she told them Christian Cooper, who is not related to her, threatened her and her dog. He did not.

"Given the issues at hand and Ms. Cooper's lack of criminal background, we offered her, consistent with our position on many misdemeanor cases involving a first arrest, an alternative, restorative justice resolution," Assistant District Attorney Joan Illuzzi told a Manhattan judge, according to a statement provided to NPR.

The program, Illuzzi explained, is "designed not just to punish but to educate and promote community healing."
Illuzzi said Cooper completed a total of five sessions and that her therapist described it as a "moving experience," adding that Amy Cooper "learned a lot in their sessions together."

Because Cooper completed the restorative justice sessions to the prosecutor's satisfaction, the Manhattan District Attorney's office moved to dismiss the charge.

The judge then granted a motion to dismiss, according to the District Attorney's Office statement.

It also noted that Christian Cooper declined to participate in the criminal justice process, but added the District Attorney's Office went forward with the proceedings because it determined the offense was not just against Cooper, but also "a threat to the community if allowed to go unchecked."

"The simple principle is that one cannot use the police to threaten another and in this case, in a racially offensive and charged manner," the statement read.

The Manhattan District Attorney's Office charged Amy Cooper in July and had she been convicted of the Class A misdemeanor, she could have faced up to one year in jail, a fine or both.

The May 25 encounter

The encounter between Amy Cooper and Christian Cooper took place in a wooded section of Central Park called The Ramble on Memorial Day. It's an area of the park where dogs are required to be leashed, and disputes between dog owners and bird-watchers are common.

Christian Cooper said he asked the woman to put her dog back on its leash. He then recorded part of their interaction, which was later posted to social media where it went viral.

It has gone on to become one of the most widely publicized so-called "Karen" incidents, where a white person, typically a woman, calls police to report a Black or brown person engaged in mundane activities.

In the video Christian Cooper captures, Amy Cooper is seen approaching him as she holds her dog's collar with one hand and a leash and cellphone in another.

The leash is not on the dog collar at the time.

"Please don't come close to me," Christian Cooper tells the woman.

She orders him to stop recording video. When he does not, she threatens that she'll call the police on him.

"Please call the cops," Christian Cooper responds.

She obliges.

"I'm in The Ramble, and there's a man, African American, he's got a bicycle helmet. He's recording me and threatening me and my dog," she tells the emergency dispatcher.

Christian Cooper never appears to come closer to her. After repeating herself, Amy Cooper begins screaming into the phone with more panic in her voice.

"I'm sorry. I can't hear. Are you there? I'm being threatened by a man in The Ramble. Please send the cops immediately!" she screams.

After the woman is seen putting her dog on its leash, the video ends.

Fallout from the viral video

In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Amy Cooper told CNN in a statement, "I'm not a racist. I did not mean to harm that man in any way," adding that she did not mean to cause harm to the African American community.

Not long after the video surfaced she was fired from her job at the investment firm Franklin Templeton.

For his part, Christian Cooper told NPR at the time he wasn't sure the fallout she was receiving was warranted.

"I'm not sure that her one minute of poor decision-making, bad judgments and, without question, racist response necessarily has to define her completely, you know?"

MINNEAPOLIS (CN) A frigid weekend in Minneapolis brought a flurry of developments in the lead-up to the trial of fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin, including the second appeal in two weeks by prosecutors and a motion to dismiss the case against one of Chauvins former colleagues over a press leak.

Attorney Robert Paule, who is defending former Minneapolis police officer Tou Thao against aiding-and-abetting charges stemming from his involvement in the fatal arrest of George Floyd last year, filed a motion Monday afternoon seeking dismissal of the case against his client and sanctions against prosecutors.

Paule expressed outrage over a series of New York Times articles beginning last week which revealed that Chauvin was preparing to plead guilty to third-degree murder in Floyds death before then-U.S. Attorney General William Barr rejected a plea deal in late May 2020.

That information, he wrote, will irreversibly taint the jury pool and deny Mr. Thao his constitutional right to a fair trial by impartial jurors.

There are a finite number of people that would have had direct knowledge of the alleged plea agreement, the motion states. The newspaper articles show that Mr. Chauvins team was not the source, nor were the federal prosecutors. Using deductive reasoning, the leak had to have come from the state.

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, whose office is leading the prosecution, dismissed the motion out of hand.

This is one convoluted conspiracy theory, he said in a statement. It fantasizes that even before we took over the case we somehow knew what then-President Trumps then-attorney general was thinking. Its completely false and an outlandish attempt to disparage the prosecution for seeking justice in the death of George Floyd. Had we been contacted prior to its filing, we could have debunked this bizarre theory from the outset and avoided this waste of the courts time.

That Chauvin had entertained a plea deal was not news. Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman confirmed to media as early as June 10, 2020, that negotiations with Chauvin had been underway but fell apart. The leak to the New York Times, however, revealed that Chauvin had been prepared to plead to third-degree murder and face more than a 10-year prison sentence in exchange for assurances that he would not face federal civil rights charges.
Paules motion came on the heels of prosecutors Friday night appeal of Hennepin County Judge Peter Cahills decision not to reinstate the third-degree charge against Chauvin.

Assistant Attorney General Matthew Frank argued in a recent motion that those charges should be put back on the table in light of a recent Minnesota Court of Appeals decision in the case of Mohamed Noor, another Minneapolis police officer who was convicted of third-degree murder for the 2017 death of Justine Ruscyk Damond.

The appeals court upheld Noors conviction, rejecting the same doctrine that a perpetrators conduct must endanger more than one person to justify a third-degree murder charge that Cahill cited in dismissing similar charges against Chauvin, Thao and fellow officers J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane.

Cahill rejected that motion, pointing out that the Court of Appeals decision was itself likely to be appealed and could be reversed. Prosecutors appealed that decision on Friday.

In light of the Minnesota Court of Appeals recent opinion upholding the Noor conviction for third-degree murder, we are seeking to reinstate the third-degree murder charge against defendant Derek Chauvin and add a third-degree murder charge against the other three defendants in the Floyd case, Ellison said in another statement.

He added, We believe that the district courts decision to deny our motion on this matter did not adhere to the Court of Appeals recent ruling, and we are seeking its review. We are continuing to pursue justice in the case and look forward to presenting the facts to a jury.

In an interview Tuesday, Mitchell Hamline School of Law professor Ted Sampsell-Jones said, This case keeps getting weirder. And, arguably, stupider.

Its technically true that the Court of Appeals decision is not yet final, as Noor will be seeking Supreme Court review. Regardless, for a trial judge to refuse to enforce an appellate court ruling because he disagrees with it is not normal, he said.

Sampsell-Jones noted the latest appeal was more likely to meet the appellate courts critical impact standard to determine whether it can hear an appeal before trial.

Its also not surprising that the prosecution chose to appeal. I doubt the third-degree charge will matter much in the end, but its become clear that the prosecution is absolutely desperate to delay Chauvins trial. This gives them a way to do so, he said.

Prosecutors have consistently denied that speculation, saying they are prepared to go to trial on schedule starting March 8. Their prior appeal stemmed from an effort to push the trial back to allow for more Covid-19 vaccinations, which led Cahill to sever Chauvins trial from that of his colleagues in order to address virus concerns. Prosecutors appealed that order, objecting to the severance of the trials.

Sampsell-Jones also cast doubt on the viability of Thaos motion, calling it mostly grandstanding.

That was a strange leak, and weve all been gossiping about who the source of the leak was. The problem is, there is no way that the defense will ever be able to prove that it was someone from the prosecution team, he said, pointing out that the leak could just as easily have come from the Department of Justice. And the leaker would never admit being the leaker. So that motion will go nowhere.

Paule did not respond to a request for comment.
