Jeff Bezos became absurdly rich by doing that.

I like having the option of going into the office

there are times where we solve problems by casually bouncing ideas off each other and that doesnt happen when working remote

but it should be an option (if possible)

I dunno. Maybe those little kiosks like they have at walmart would work. 1 employee in-house to withdraw and reload the machine and handle tech issues.

I don't like polluting my home with work mindsets. I need the divide. I use my home to relax. If I'm there I want to do whatever I want, which almost never has anything work related involved.

I don't get these bouncing off creative ideas narrative. At my previous WFH job, we did conference meetings and I was able to actually contribute and join other groups because my energy wasn't drained on commuting and faking a personality in the office.

Yeah this seems to be the best approach. I fully support remote as a viable option for anyone who wants it and isn't required to go onsite for stuff like IT, but at the same time, I recognize the value in a physical office presence once in a while.

The days of full in person 9-5 need to die. The only reason they haven't yet is because these companies spend six figures a month on two floors in a downtown skyscraper for a 10 year lease and they don't like seeing it sit empty, so they force people back to try and justify the spending.

I'm full remote now and it's probably the greatest job-related thing that has ever happened to me. And that includes the time when I got my first offer out of college.

my job is full time wfh, it has its pros & cons imo. i like being able to wear sweatpants every day, not commute, do shit around the house etc but i miss talking with other adults, and doing shit online sometimes is needlessly complicated when you could solve a problem in 10 min by pulling a few ppl into a conf room and figuring shit out. overall i prefer wfh and it would be tough to get me to want to dress up in business casual + sit in traffic 5 days a week, but sometimes i feel like im on house arrest

Id like the option. I made a lot of friends at my job and wed often go to lunch or hang out and talk. I miss the social aspect of going to the office. I miss the face to face I used to have with my hiring teams. And if they werent getting back to me on items, I could easily walk into their office. Now all I can do is slack and wait. Its nice to get out of the house too. I feel like Ive been at home for the last 2 years and it gets exhausting.

I prefer to work in the office, rather than at home, only because they place so much restrictions on us at home. A lot of my work involves confidential information, but they don't want us to take confidential information home. So I'm limited in how much work I can do from home.

But then they also scrutinize over how much I get done while at home. If they don't feel it's enough work to justify 8 hours of pay, then I have to use PTO. So I much rather just come into the office where I'm not micromanaged to hell.
