TopicHow American game companies avoid paying income tax

Super Bunnyhop expands upon an expose written by a Dutch games journalist, about how Activision-Blizzard are using the Netherlands, Ireland, Switzerland and other tax havens to avoid paying income tax. The fucked up part is that it's all legal - because Activision-Blizzard's lawyers have been lobbying to make the exploitable tax laws they need legal.

I only ever played the demo as a kid, really loved what the game did with the PS2. It was one of the first times I realised you could turn back without leaving the mission area of a game, and collect resources and bonuses before tackling the meat of the mission. The demo level had a big gate in it, and you could go into a nearby town, get an armoured truck and a couple of other mercs and bow the gate off its hinges. Good shit - I wish I had the full game back in the day.

There's an early episode of Demo Disk by Funhaus where one of them finds a copy of Mercenaries on PS2. They break each demo disk after playing it, and since they couldn't play Mercenaries on a PC, they just snapped it. I was pissed.

Cop sounds like a pussy. No mention of it charging him, no mention of it being agitated or destroying property - the cop was just intimidated by the size of its horns. After they'd already been herding it without incident.

The farmer already expressed regret and a sense of wrongdoing after the goat got out, despite mentioning that goats love to get out of places and tend to be good at it. That was big of him. Sounds like a good man. Meanwhile, the cop? "It was him or me". Despite what sounds like minimal danger or hassle on the goat's part. What a pussy.

Depends on the age. If he's like 15, I think he's being a moron but there's room for him to grow so I'm not going to be a total asshole about it. If it ever comes up, discuss the matter/s with the facts and rationale that I've been presented with and hope he catches on. If my son is in his twenties and still believes in this cringe BS, then I acknowledge that I've failed as a parent.

Anti-vax has some element of primal fear to it, that you're being injected with harmful, unknown substances - I think it's stupid on an intellectual level, but I understand the fear. Needles alone are terrifying as fuck. But anything to do with Flat Earth is moronic at best. Following lizard people, Illuminati-type shit and ice rings around the flat plane of Earth well into your twenties is just pitiful, especially when these batshit elements all lead up to some force somehow subjugating the human race into an age of ignorance. There's no rhyme or reason to it.

I'm not super happy about it.

In the last four years since leaving school, I haven't really made too much progress towards maturing into an adult. I drink a lot, I spend time with the only friends I've ever known, and I play video games. I'm a leech who feeds on the free time of other people, and I spend most of the time bottling my shit up so I keep the peace and don't alienate anyone. Even my mother's shitty boyfriend of eight years, who's an emotionally stunted alcoholic moron who loves to get drunk, but gets incredibly angry when my mum gets as drunk as he does.

I feel like a burden and a waste of resources. All I have going for me is an open-minded and friendly demeanor, which doesn't mean much when I blow off my friends to sleep into the PMs. I don't contribute anything but abstract thoughts and discourse to anyone, and maybe some company when people want to hang out. For a person who's 22, I've only gone for one job interview (which wrecked me when I didn't get the job) and worked two volunteer jobs. I'm disgusted by my inaction, but it legitimately feels hard just to get out of bed to face the day, because I live with a family I never want to see and have friends that - despite supporting me through hard times and outright giving me things I don't deserve - spend a lot of time pushing my buttons, trying to touch me because they know I don't like being touched, and who don't have many things in common with me aside from video games and something of a sense of humor.

These people all genuinely care about me, even my mother's alchie boyfriend (when he's not playing shitty music and screaming about how fat, slow or unmotivated I am to himself). But I've wanted to cut everyone away and just leave for years, because I've never deserved their kindness and I don't have anything I can do to repay them for everything they've given me. They've been good to me, even alcoholic fuckboy in very specific moments, but I hate myself and what I've become so much I'd rather leave and let them spend their time and resources on something (or someone) better. Which, of course, is just me being selfish instead of stepping up, taking responsibility for my actions and doing right by them.

The main source of my angst is how I'm now 22, but have achieved nothing to distinguish me as an adult. I'm stunted, I'm going nowhere fast and I can't feel a change in myself, because even with all the frustration and disgust at my inaction, it's just as hard to get out of bed as it's always been. I have no fucking idea how I'm going to get out of this four year slump, and I hate myself for that - as well as for becoming the sort of person I am. And I share the burden by hating those around me, even those who do right by me. I didn't ever deserve to make it to 22, and I wish the wasted potential would just kill me in my sleep or something.

My birthday gift to myself is this angsty rant on GameFAQs, of all places. Don't feel obligated to try and cheer me up, or go "just do it!!!" or whatever, I just wrote this because I'm angry at myself and wanted to express that anger somewhere as a way of venting and feeling better. I already feel better. Now I've expressed how I feel, I can get up, take a shower, and face the day where too many kind people pay attention to me.

Thanks for letting me rant, CE. It's self-indulgent and immature, but that's why I'm calling it a birthday present - I get one chance to blow off this steam a year, if you just give me the chance to be self-indulgent and immature about the life I live with minimal physical hardship and people who like me. Thanks for reading.

No autosave.

I only say this because there was a blackout this morning when I was playing it, and I lost all of my progress with Tanimura for the day. I had just finished the Bridge subplot, I was at level 16 and I was trying the hostess clubs out for the first time so I could complete the Kansai comedy dude's substory, and there was a noise like a rubbish bin getting tipped over before my power went out. I'm at the Finale, and I had the good sense to save after I finished all of Saejima's substories, but unfortunately Tanimura wasn't as lucky.

I actually do really like how there's no autosave, it's a cool aesthetic choice that I get a kick out of. Going around and saving at payphones? Love it. It feels like a touch of the past, and I really like it. But seriously, fuck having to replay those substories. They had such a good bite to them, and I was driven to finish them - now I have to retread them, and basically skip through them all.

I think his lyrics are vapid and mediocre, and I don't like his voice. Dude might be cool, but one of my friends is really into his music so I've had to hear way too much of it.

He makes a bunch of break-up songs, writes cringeworthy hooks and the music to his songs bores me to tears - sometimes because it's the same bland, spaced out notes for the whole song (Shape of You), and sometimes because he's overplayed by both the radio and my friend to a disgusting degree (Thinking Out Loud). I can't wait for the day that Ed Sheeran is forgotten by the mainstream - by all means, let the dude make his music and have his fans and all that, he seems like a cool guy. But I can't stand his music, and I pray for the day he drops off the radar and out of my life.

I understand your point, but personally I'd be interested in hearing about whatever's going on in Italian politics as a breath of fresh air. I see enough Trump/Putin stuff online, to the point that I know more about American politics than I do about my local Australian politics, and even then there's a lot of bullshit happening over here that's frustrating to hear about. But this thing is happening in Italian politics? That's interesting. And to talk about Italian politics, you might have to talk about the culture of modern-day Italy and how it reacts to the politics of today. There's a wealth of interesting new info there that sounds interesting. That's just me, though.

I don't think the outcome of this topic was because people were unfamiliar with the topic, and so substituted the closest cultural practice in order to talk about it. The topic ended up like this because someone went "lol anteater" as a joke, and anti-circumcision people hit the thread to talk about the injustice of male genital mutilation and how insensitive and ignorant it was to dismiss the foreskin. They completely bypassed the subject of the thread to yell down at each other about their ongoing political squabble, because the title has "circumcision" in it. They don't care about female circumcision, because they want to argue about circumcision as a whole, and how dare boys get snipped without their permission as a baby! Completely ignoring that female circumcision involves the clitoris being removed, the labia being cut off and the vagina being sewn shut, with a woman's legs being bound together for weeks to facilitate healing. They don't recognise that, because they're blinded by the word "circumcision" and instantly think about the human rights violation that is a baby boy getting a bit of skin snipped of, rather than the human rights violation that is having one's pleasure receivers removed, as well as outwardly showing genitalia (most likely decried for being "obscene"), before having their crotch sewn together to preserve them for marriage.

Ignorance regarding female genital mutilation isn't an excuse to snipe back and forth about dicks and how unethical and horrible it is that penises are altered at birth. It's an opportunity to learn about a serious, disgusting cultural problem that causes much more unnecessary pain, as well as birth/conception issues for the recipient, on a much wider scale - all in the name of decency and purity for one's husband. But people used the thread to cry "what about me" and champion a cause that's barely in the same league. Circumcision is wrong, and mutilation? Sure. Taking out a healthy appendix is mutilation, especially if the recipient didn't ask for it - and the appendix is borderline useless. But female circumcision is in a league of its own. It's objectively worse than male circumcision. It's barbaric, and it leads to a lifetime of infection, birthing troubles and chronic pain in a way that male circumcision does not. And hijacking a thread about it to talk about anteater dicks and poor mutilated chrome-dome dongs is fucking disgraceful.

How are nursing homes currently being held accountable? Can they get their shit kicked in by law enforcement and/or taken down for breaking laws, or do they cover their asses so well via legalese and fineprint that negligence and criminal activities can't be reported to significant effect to a higher legal power?

Because if you can't get a nursing home's shit wrecked for forgetting to feed Grandma for days at a time or stealing her jewellery without dragging them to court, then there's something absolutely fucking disgusting about the system and the end to this rule is absolutely fucking disgusting. At face value, it looks like it fucks over the vulnerable party and provides an additional layer of protection to those who stand to benefit from their mistreatment, and the only reason I can see for this policy to be removed is because it came from Obama's government.

This policy covers sexual misconduct as well. If there's an orderly who's sick enough to rape a resident of the nursing home they work at, that fucker deserves to be bled dry by any means necessary. If this policy goes away, then what measure is left to punish molesters and abusers for preying on the weak? That's a genuine question - how good are the protections for nursing home residents aside from this law, how else can you punish misconduct and challenge abuse? Because without an easy way to combat that fuckery, then the repeal of this policy is an absolute fucking disgrace and the fuckers who pass the repeal should eat concrete.

Boys have their foreskin cut off without their consent.

That is not as big a deal as a woman having her clitoris removed. If male circumcision involved cutting out the glans on the tip of the penis, or cutting the knob right off, you'd be getting somewhere - getting rid of a single flap of skin on top is not equivalent to how much of a girl's vagina can get cut out of her during a "female circumcision".

I think you've posted some iffy political stuff in the past that makes me cautious of what you post, but as far as gimmicks go, rewriting news articles in your own style and constantly posting news stories like you do is more constructive and entertaining than most other regular gimmick posters.

You're not as good as The_Doge as far as your gimmick goes, but your thing is leagues ahead of the users who post almost exclusively in political threads for the sake of drama. Even at the worst that I've seen you at, you haven't been a JohnLennon6 and/or a SSJSpiderman-tier poster.

This presidential shit-show could be a bowel movement in the next couple of months if they find anything fucked up.

You mean it's not already?

Well, a bowel movement suggests an expulsion of waste.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A grand jury has issued subpoenas in connection with a June 2016 meeting that included President Donald Trump's son, his son-in-law and a Russian lawyer, two sources told Reuters on Thursday, signaling an investigation is gathering pace into suspected Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.

The sources added that U.S. Special Counsel Robert Mueller had convened the grand jury investigation in Washington to help examine allegations of Russian interference in the vote. One of the sources said it was assembled in recent weeks.

Russia has loomed large over the first six months of the Trump presidency. U.S. intelligence agencies have concluded that Russia worked to tilt the presidential election in Trump's favor. Mueller, who was appointed special counsel in May, is leading the probe, which also examines potential collusion by the Trump campaign with Russia.

Moscow denies any meddling and Trump denies any collusion by his campaign, while regularly denouncing the investigations as political witch hunts.

At a rally in Huntington, West Virginia, on Thursday night, Trump said: "Most people know there were no Russians in our campaign. ... We didn't win because of Russia. We won because of you."

Mueller's use of a grand jury could give him expansive tools to pursue evidence, including issuing subpoenas and compelling witnesses to testify. The Wall Street Journal earlier reported a grand jury was impaneled.

Here we go.

Edit: For what it's worth, though:

"Given that Mueller inherited an investigation that began months ago, it would suggest that he has uncovered information pointing in the direction of criminal charges. But against whom is the real question."

It was not immediately clear to whom subpoenas were issued and the sources did not elaborate.

But still, shit is moving along in this backed-up, festering colon. This presidential shit-show could be a bowel movement in the next couple of months if they find anything fucked up.

Just got back from a 5/10. Honestly, it was more bark than bite. There was mess, but it was easy fixed.

Still, less poops like that would be nice.
