in a practical sense, it is about distance. You have an unfair advantage because you live in Europe and going to a different country for you is like going to Michigan for me distance-wise. I could go to uh.. Canada, I guess, but nothing else is really viable right now.

Captain America is a great movie and is sort of relevant to the Avengers plot beyond the Cap origin story.

Joss Whedon likes to kill people you like. I figured he couldn't kill off any of the heroes, and Maria Hill hadn't earned any real emotional attachment, so I knew Coulson was going to die. Still really bummed me out.

I think The Avengers does plenty of good to the industry, as did films like The Black Knight. They are actually great superhero films that are also making lots of money. They are not cash-ins as they clearly take considerable work and effort, and they actually become successful. It gives the industry more incentives to work harder on better films instead of on crap that doesn't make half as much money. Basically it's sending a message that it is worth the extra effort.
