Sad you didn't like Hinamatsuri but yeah, comedy is subjective. Golden Kamuy also isn't bad if you have no plans to read the manga. Megalobox is a solid choice too, though.

This is a good way to describe Music Girls. It definitely isn't the highest quality idol series yet I find it oddly endearing. The main character is a fun mixture of savant and dunce.

I've gone over this before, I compulsively need to keep the tiers even and that means shifting them around as new shows are added! This way the bad stuff slowly falls, the good stuff slowly rises, and eventually everything will be ranked where it's supposed to be.

I do rank them pretty differently. I have Madoka above average at a 6/10, so I definitely enjoyed it! What mostly held it back wasn't so much its tone but rather that it deconstructed a lot of magical girl tropes that I enjoy more when they're played straight (which is why I vastly prefer Yuki Yuna is a Hero). By comparison, being too needlessly grim was what held back MGRP (and Magical Girl Site) and those are both lucky there were enough new 2/10s this season to bump them to 3/10.

I actually thought the second episode of Cells veered a bit too much into being educational. I hope it cuts back on the helpful explanations about everything now that it has done the major characters. Still a fun anime but Revue Starlight is my #1 of the season at this point.

Cells at Work and Planet With are my favorites of those. I suppose it would depend what you're in the mood for though, lots of different tones and genres there.

Phantom in the Twilight has also been surprisingly legit so far, too.

Asobi Asobase definitely could stand to tone down the dumb faces but I never felt like it was relying on them too much. The comedy for me was always in the absurd extremes and character interactions.

As we've often said here before though, humor really is subjective. I still prefer Chio over Asobi this season.

I actually thought the second episode of Dropkick was a step up (albeit from 2/10 to 4/10, but still!) and I'm hoping it keeps it up. Getting some backstory for a few characters helped a ton and subtle jokes like Jashin picking the lemon flavor really worked for me.
