What should have been just "we can fix bugs and provide expansions" became "putting the coin slot back on your console" and pushing half baked hot garbage out the door with day 1 dlc they would have had to put on the main game disc before it shipped a few generations ago.

Now they can charge full retail for the game in whatever rotten state they can push it out the door in, and then hit you twice over for season passes and dlc that used to have to be part of the retail release out of necessity.

I can't get behind the modern state of gaming.

I've tried very hard to get into the MegaMan battle network games over the years. It just feels like the worst part of rock, paper, scissors, combined with the worst part of Castlevania style dodging attacks, and card collecting gatcha mechanics before that became financially exploitable by the game makers instead of time exploitable by slapping a coin slot on your device, which has been the goal of game makers since home consoles became a thing.

And oh yeah, the floor falls away at random in boss fights. That was a great idea!

Like I get it, but it's really not my jam at all despite really trying to give it a chance.

The biggest problem is with most customer-facing jobs is that as a drone, your job is to say "no" and a manager's job is to say "yes".

So you end up with a situation where you're expected to follow the policy you've been handed, and the instant Karen gets squirrelly, your manager will be summoned to bend over for whatever ridiculous demand an unreasonable customer has, AND as an added bonus, you get reprimanded for enforcing company policy, and Karen gets a gift card for her inconvenience.

We'd rather pump the atmosphere full of uncontained CO2 than have highly concentrated nuclear waste that lasts for aeons and is easily stored in a central location for...reasons.

And half the reason nuclear is "unsafe" is there haven't been any real major upgrades to the tech in 50 years. The "unsafe plants" with positive fail-safes instead of negative ones are a majorly bone headed choice to begin with, and we're looking at reactors built in the 50s 60s and 70s.

We could have had Thorium/MSR tech up and running nationwide by now if the Clinton administration hadn't shut the research down in the 90's.

We don't even have to go mining the Thorium. There's something like a 130 year supply of it just sitting in slag piles at every mine and foundry in the world. It's sitting around like the barrels of gasoline were a waste product before the internal combustion engine.

It infuriates me that we haven't persued this technology as if our lives depended on it when we started freaking out about global warming, but shut down the very technology that would have solved most of the problem by now when we started freaking out.

Hollywood is full of flat-assed amputee dwarfs, so naturally the entire country demands proportional representation which means 2 flat assed amputee dwarfs for every full-assed able bodied giant! We need people that look like us to tell a story dammit! Actors acting? That's cultural appropriation! Stay in your lane actors!

Only elves can play elves only klingons can play Klingons! Need a Nazgul? Better go hire one and pay them the same as a Hobbit for their cameo in a film about hobbits! Need someone to voice a talking duck? You'd better find a talking duck for the VA, or you're an istandphobe!

people have actually worked this out.A new big bang creating a new universe should happen in 10^10^10^56 years. Whats really interesting is that is the amount of time before a new, randomly configured universe to come to exist, and its also the amount of time it would take for a unvierse identical to our own to come into existence again. The numbers we're dealign with are so huge that even if every other possible configuration happens between when ours ends and evnetually forms again, the difference between that and a single random universe emerging is lost in the rounding error.

And all of the entirety of what we know of Creation with all the laws of physics may entirely exist within a false vacuum state to begin with.

The LHC does make me nervous a bit. I don't care if they open a portal to hell, but if they fuck up and get a strangelet at random the entire universe is fucked for this cycle.

Thats only assuming that there was nothing before the Big Bang

Just imagine an infinity of Big Rips going backwards where eventually the entire universe dies a heat death or ended up being down to just the black holes trying to merge for aeons before they succumbed to Hawking evaporation to trigger the next big bang in the next cycle.

I don't claim to truly grok "infinity". I get the very basics, but the fact that infinity plus infinity is still infinity is something my puny 3rd dimension consciousness can only sniff at the edges of.

I can write in cursive, but my default handwriting is a weird hybrid of print, cursive, tengwar, runes and a personal shorthand that grew out of jotting down NES passwords as a kid and working a parts counter at an electrical supply house for a dozen years taking orders at the counter and over the phone.

If I'm leaving a note that I actually intend another person to read, I have to make a conscious effort to use far more normal text.

Some of my old notebooks would look like the voynich manuscript to the untrained eye.

The end times where the antichrist reigns before the rapture is supposed to last 1000 years while mankind is culled in thirds.

And my understanding has always been being the first third or the last third is really, really going to suck.

So until we get a lot closer to the singularity to where life extension technology.can push your existence to a Millennium, odds are high that we aren't going to see the apocalypse in any meaningful sense.

By that logic, I hope you never played Mario 3 and dared to use the raccoon leaf suit. Or SMW's cape.

Yikes. Imagine thinking a non-exploit game mechanic included in the base version of the game is beneath you to use as intended on a vanilla run.

Might as well play later MegaMan games and never charge a shot because it makes things too easy.

It's not like you threw the konami code at Contra. You're literally using an intended character as intended on a stock Route.

Might as well throw Grant to the curb too for his wall climbing shenanigans.

They gave you 4 characters, better only use one or the other nerfed one lest people I'll never see IRL think I'm "abusing an included by design" game mechanic.
