I agree. Hannity would most likely speak differently if the scenario involved different people. More importantly, yes, you should never speak to police or any investigating authority without your legal counsel present, maybe not even then. Eye witness testimony can also be incredibly unreliable, but courts use it anyway in a lot of cases.

It's also not rare to hear someone say businesses (AKA rich people) steal all their money from employees and the poor in general, even though it's an asinine claim. And these examples don't have you risking a visit by men with guns, but not paying your taxes definitely could.

Smartphone addiction is the one that disturbs me because it's so common and obvious. (Technically, I suppose it's more an addiction to social media.) Going out and seeing an entire family or a group of friends who are not talking to each other because ALL of their attention is on their phones is kind of depressing. I see this everywhere. And don't get me wrong, I know it's their right to do what they want and I don't think it makes them bad people at all. I liken it more to how you might feel sympathy if you walked around your neighborhood and literally everyone else was shooting up with cocaine when they're in a restaurant, at a museum, at a park, etc.
