I think the solution is simple. Just stop gender segregation and only let the absolute best players play in Pro sports. No gender or race or any other quota, just judge each player based purely off of skill. It would improve things immensely.

The problem there being that that was the standard for a long time then women complained so people capitulated.

I'm fairly certain the general population cares more about what 50% of the population cares about compared to .1%

If you told the school "I'm too poor to get dress shoes, can I go in my normal shoes?" it would be no problem. If he said "Can I go in my neutral tones, expensive sneakers? They're not showy and I really like them." then I wouldn't be surprised if they made an exception.

The issue here is he completely ignored the rules he was perfectly capable of following, informed no-one and expected things to cater to him despite several years of school prior telling him otherwise. That attitude alone is pretty disrespectful.
