The history of policing has been arcing toward a more equitable institution, it takes everyday work to effect the change needed. I have many criticisms on how police operate and act, but I have used those to effect change here at home; the OPP are not the same as they were, 30, 20, or even 10 years ago. It's slow and frustrating, but we all have to take responsibility for the faith in institutions that makes up our society. If we cannot keep faith in societal institutions, bad as some are, the system collapses. Because I can't escape the ads (when I get to the new place I am putting a pi hole in) I know they are offering in game bets and speciality bets on anything you can dream of through the app. This is great news for the casinos that no longer have to deal with suicides in their parking lots. Casinos are all in an uproar over it, they still have to pay higher fees and taxes than the online operators, and people don't really want to travel to crowded areas still, they thought Doug would bring them the gravy train but he sold them out for bidders with deeper pockets. There is a lot of human level incompetence to go around, but there are many examples of global networks that benefit from the current environment of information overload and mistrust in institutions. There is a height limit, above that limit, a building compromised in the right way, at the right height will cause the building to collapse into itself under its own weight. It was the basis of the second WTC attack planning, after the bombing in the nineties (had it been larger or in the right place, the entire complex would have come down then) they looked at the math and determined that a plane with most of its full reserves, flying into a sufficiently tall enough building, between 1/3 to a 1/4 of the way from the top, will cause enough structural damage to cause a catastrophic failure. There are several factors that led to the unprecedented pancake collapse of the complex, but it is likely that it is repeatable with the right buildings.
