WASHINGTON POST - Tammy Duckworth will be the Senate's first new mom, but she already has a record of blazing trails

Duckworth was the first female double amputee in the war, HuffPost reported.

But that grim distinction did nothing to slow Duckworth down as she shifted from a career in the military to stateside public service. Rather, Duckworth has achieved one milestone after the next.

This didnt change who I am, she explained to Stars and Stripes a year after her injuries. Im not about to let some guy who got lucky with an RPG decide how to live my life.

She would go on to be the first female amputee elected to the U.S. Congress; the first Asian American to represent Illinois in Washington; the first member of Congress born in Thailand. And this week, Duckworth announced she and her husband, Bryan Bowlsbey, were expecting their second child in April. That will make Duckworth the first U.S. senator to give birth while in office.

Shortly after President Trump fired his FBI director in May, he summoned to the Oval Office the bureau's acting director for a get-to-know-you meeting.

I'm over 15GB again and it's getting real tiresome trying to find a bunch of emails easily deletable every other month. I also just cleared half a gig from Drive, but it won't recognize my deletion as a gain. Grrrrr.

New realization: she didn't acknowledge the discomfort I talked about. I understood she didn't "get it," but she went back to a previous thing I felt instead of acknowledging what I actually am feeling now that I'm done with her.

Sigh. I've been guilty of that before and I've felt bad about it in hindsight, with someone I knew for years if that matters. She may or may not feel bad too, but I don't know her like that and I'm not waiting.

I don't think she was confessing to acting like a stalker, she just didn't want to be treated like one...which, I mean, sure, stalker-treatment's not preferable for anybody.

That said, I think Maniac's got it: she doesn't see the problem.

It's sparked a memory: when I told her I liked her but needed some space from her, she said something like "I'm glad you talked to me about this. I've had people just up and leave without talking before. Please talk to me if you feel like that again." I don't think anybody should be judged by having one or two people decide not to talk with them anymore...but also, as somebody not wanting to deal with her like that anymore and having given her a second chance, I think that comment stands out to me more now. =/

Like I've told her twice now, I didn't know how to tell her no without hurting her feelings. I finally did, and yeah she's miffed. I'm glad she didn't lash out like some people would have, but no doubt she's mad and thought on this awhile (like me before I texted her for the last time).

Not sure how much being softer or nicer would have paid off, or not sending my last message at all...but I believe it's done now and that's what I wanted.

Then again, I thought it was done yesterday. Whoops -- life's something, ain't it.

That first paragraph was addressed in some stuff I originally cut out -- I think Seabass was right to say try not to allow room for the argument to get in-depth with her anymore, just saying.

That's a good line about resolve though, maybe I'll remember that and maybe I won't need that.

Her stalker-comment just tells me she wasn't getting how intrusive it was feeling. Our talks here about her being outside of my window's light-hearted enough, nothing serious there. That said, if I don't want to tell her where I live and she keeps asking and trying to deduce it -- and that fits a broader pattern where she's making me feel trapped, or attacked for distancing myself more -- that is serious and I'm allowed to be tired of these conversations taking my time. I don't know that she's a stalker -- probably not, non-zero chance though -- but she repeatedly wouldn't get my boundaries.

And fine about the shows either way I guess.

Not responding to her. Oh well, sincerely wish her (and her boyfriend she should have told me about much sooner like when I first said I liked her) well.

People can be anti-war and still want somebody better for Commander In Chief.

Hillary was calling out Russia for interfering in our election through social media and hacking. Donald was calling for Hillary's emails they hacked to be leaked and defended Putin in practically every opportunity. There were even conversations about having Russia work with our cyber-security as a team, right after these attacks.

Hillary pressed for the timing of the strike that killed Osama bin Laden. Donald didn't understand what the nuclear triad was.

Hillary's had a lifetime of service that has largely been near the military service and the difficult decisions that come with that. Donald, even in his private life as a business owner, was still being resistant and scummy to veteran donations he'd claim to give until he was called out for them.

I got a lot of issues with Hillary including how she voted in times of war, but I trust she knows a ton more than Donald and it's not like Donald's proven to be any more of a pacifist (unless you mean being a muddy welcome mat for Putin to stomp and walk over). I don't want war, but I trust Hillary to say we need to fight more than Donald.

If Donald felt war was so immoral when he would have been a pawn, it's very hard to tell now that he's a (4D.....) Chess player who campaigned on knowing more than the military generals. He immediately one-upped Ted Cruz's half-measure on waterboarding by saying waterboarding isn't torture and would do "a hell of a lot worse." He felt like you have to kill terrorists' families even if they're innocent, too.

The disrespect he gave the Khan family and John McCain doesn't help his case, either. Hell, McCain was captured in Vietnam and sacrificed his well-being for the lives of others in this war Donald skipped, and now Donald's turned his party against a hero because "I like people who weren't captured." If Donald felt like the draft was immoral, right on, but he's never said that and has instead tried to ruin the career of an actual hero from that era.

So moral, so brave. I see you pardoning Donald's behavior.
