I don't really play their games, but the hype for Elden Ring has seemed larger than any other release by FromSoftware and my friends haven't complained about the game other than the silly amount of deaths which is kinda their company trademark.

They also have a horse that double-jumps, and that alone is worth my vote against some games.

Knuckles is my dude, I got love for him, I expect a boost from his movie and spin-off series, and I would never wish a first or second round loss on him like if he had to face Sheik.

Sheik would leave Knuckles stuck to the wall in a new way after a forward-smash. Ness would turn the bat on himself before wanting any part of Operation Oust. Pac-Man better hope he's eating pain-pills.

ELIGIBILITY:

We're all going to be concerned about Sheik's eligibility, so let's talk.

We do run the risk of SBAllen deciding later that only Zelda is eligible, yes. However, the revolution will not be denied by fear alone!

Here's our ultimate point about that risk: say it to our nominations after we out-nominate Zelda! If we can only have one of these two characters, then make SBAllen boot Zelda instead of Sheik. When we out-nominate Zelda, what other reason would there be to prevent Sheik's debut?

That said, we recognize were fighting against the odds -- not just to get Sheik in, but also to win in our position that Sheik should be allowed on top of Zeldas inclusion too. To understand our position, you should understand what we believe is a long-standing fallacy.

BOARD 8S FALLACY:

The common thought process here is Sheik cannot enter a contest because Sheik is Zelda and Zelda is already here, meaning Zelda represents Sheik.

That thought process doesnt satisfy us. Heres why: SBAllens history.

First, SBAllen never put Sheik in one of Zelda's Character Battle pictures before we messaged him about Sheiks eligibility. Sheik's appearance against Cloud in a Zelda-match was confusing since Sheik and Zelda have separated since SSB4. As someone who personally voted against Zelda in all of the second half of her 2018-run, I would have voted for Sheik in every single match Zelda had that contest...so it was weird to have one of my favorite characters represent a character I didn't care much for. Sheik and Zelda mean different things to other gamers too -- check any Smash-stream -- so allowing Sheik in as her own entrant will solve this confusion.

Before we messaged SBAllen about Sheik's eligibility though, she only got background cameos for Zelda once from the CJayC era. We wanted that level of representation to change by giving Sheik her own place in the bracket, and SBAllen's immediate response was to add Sheik in a Zelda match despite us saying beforehand that is not what we are asking for. Let us be clear: two rotating background shots for Zelda one day wasn't representation for Sheik then in 2006, and one rotating foreground shot for Zelda one day in 2018 isn't representation for Sheik either. Now that SBAllen went on to do what we said we hoped he wouldn't do, it's on us to let him know Zelda-matches are not a satisfying place for Smash-fans to see Sheik represented. Give her a poll, not a picture!

Let's also look at SBAllens actions regarding another series: Mega Man. SBAllen featured both Mega Man and Mega Man X in the same contests since 2008's Character Battle, which is an extension of CJayC separating Mega Man and Mega Man X since the Best Series Ever contest of 2006.

Let's compare these two pairs. Mega Man X is a form of Mega Man = Sheik is a form of Zelda. Mega Man X's play-style is significantly different from Mega Man's = Sheik's play-style is significantly different from Zelda's. SBAllen allowed Mega Man and Mega Man X to represent themselves as separate characters, and thats all we want for Sheik.

We could nitpick their differences...but really, SBAllen has proven lenient. One of his first major contest decisions was allowing a tetromino in as a character. More recently, he shared he would relax on his usual nomination rules during 2018's Character Battle regarding eligibility. This relaxation allowed Geralt to enter the contest despite the risk of opening the doors up to other fictional characters like Supermanand guess what, Superman isn't in a contest. Sheik's situation is more like Mega Man X's similarities with Mega Man than Superman's similarities with Geralt...so, respectfully, SBAllen should only care about Sheik's final nomination count like he did for Mega Man and Mega Man X. We see Sheik can be let in without opening the doors to Red Yoshi, Black Yoshi, Blue Yoshi, and Pink Yoshi.

Board 8 has jumped the gun on convincing itself Sheik is ineligible. This bad logic happened because Board 8 never considered two things: Sheik out-nominating Zelda, and Mega Man setting a different standard. SBAllen sees there is room to think about this discussion now and it's time this board does too.

Zelda. Doesn't. Represent. Sheik. Ask any Smash-tournament how different they are.

If we can have Mega Man and Mega Man X in multiple contests together across multiple types of contests, theres no reason we cant have Sheik somewhere!

The Big Fix is a fascinating episode.

Clearly gaslighting us and the episode's got a lot of cringe, but this episode seems to be an instant hit and I would say rightfully so. I'm guessing the point about "Why would we name our son that?" sparked the larger conversation that led to the change this episode.

The doctor and the court case over the puppies got me.

Few season openers REALLY land for South Park, but like with that understanding this was still pretty good. Its storyline got forced but its moments along the way were funny.

That two-line exchange between Butters and Cartman on school shootings went from series-future-worrying cringe to remembering why I care about the show. Good job with the recovery South Park.

This means youve got two people who have out-seeded Zelda separately at the same time...now TEAMING UP TOGETHER to out-seed Zelda again, this time for Sheik. #DownB

Sheik stands out strength-wise here -- there arent many who can compete with her. Eight of the Noble Nine are already represented in SSBU, and after that we're not ready to pick nine other characters previously playable in a fighting game to beat her. By that metric, she beats 90% of the fighters we've ever seen before.

We also don't know another GameFAQs fighting game snub who would beat Sheik. After looking at Blade Strangers, BlazBlue, Brawlhalla, Castlevania Judgement, Clayfighter, Darkstalkers, Dead or Alive, Dissidia, DreamMix TV World Fighters, Dynasty Warriors, Ehrgeiz, Fatal Fury, Fraymakers, Guilty Gear, .hack//Versus, Indie Pogo, King of Fighters, Mortal Kombat, Persona, PlayStation All-Stars, Pokken Tournament, Power Battle, Skullgirls, Sonic Battle, Sonic the Fighters, Soul Calibur, Street Fighter, Street Fighter x Tekken, Super Smash Bros., Tales of VS., Tekken, Touhou fighters, Versus Capcom, Virtua Fighter, Ys vs. Sora no Kiseki...is there a game character we haven't seen from any of these series who you would take over Sheik? Or maybe another fighting game series we haven't seen represented here yet? Really doubt it.

Nominating Sheik likely means nominating our strongest fighting genre snub, one so strong she places in the top 10% of fighting genre characters we've ever seen featured in a GameFAQs match. That seems pretty worthwhile! We just have to get her in.

So lets get more specific about our previous Smash-entrants listed above.

Sheik was beaten to GameFAQs matches by the following individual NPCs perceived to be jokes that were seen in some capacity from the series:

*Paddle, which has been in a bonus match.
*? Block, which has been a proper entrant in one contest and beat a former contest champion in another contest's bonus poll.
*Sandbag, which has been in two contests and advanced to the second round before.
*Mudkip, which has been in two contests and advanced to the second round twice.
*Master Hand, which has been seen in two contests and won two matches.

Not one time? Not even in the Female Bracket? Or when we had two hundred forty-three spots available? Or when Smash-characters made up over a third of our bracket? Or when we have like eighteen characters who only debuted here because of Smash hype? Or when Smash took over a third of the most recent contest's roster?

Get out of here. This site loves Smash and that's not going away, so Its time to allow Sheik!

Is anybody rallying for Zero Suit Samus or Dark Samus over Samus? I don't think they'll work as well as our rally, and Sheik is beating either of them in a match anyway.

Is anybody rallying for Ivysaur or Greninja? Sheikll take them down alongside their bigger-named Pokemon too.

Is anybody rallying for Roy? We have plenty of other FE characters for Sheik to beat.

Is anybody rallying for Popo or Captain Alph after seeing Nana and Captain Olimar? Don't even waste your time.

Is anybody rallying for Inkling? Step on up if so -- itll be fun to see a Bouncing Fish make Squid Games out of a squid.

Is anybody rallying for R.O.B.? Id actually welcome that, but let's not act like he'll be strong either.

Is anybody rallying for Wii Fit Trainer? Put 'em in a match with Sheik -- see who gets the work-out.

Is anybody rallying for Duck? The Duck Hunt Dog already stunk and it had joke-votes.

Is anybody rallying for Min Min? Sound the aram if Arms characters face Sheik -- she'll leave any of them looking like stretched-out Slinkies.

These are the snubs that at one time or another have outranked Sheik or ranked on her level. Who else here even has an argument against Sheik in a GameFAQs match? Dr. Mario maaaaaybe, but probably not...and again, you wont see rallies to get him in over Mario anyway. Meanwhile, we have something real with Sheik > Zelda, and were not wasting time on those other wanna-bes until they present themselves as threats.

Sheik is the best character to still be snubbed despite topping out in two different Smash-games. She's the obvious next pick! #DownB
