Grad school has its own pressures, but I can do most of the things I need to do on my own time. I've literally never had a good or consistent sleep schedule in my life, and I just seem to be incapable of getting up consistently before 10 AM. I'm also a person that requires a LOT of downtime in order to function, and 8-9 hours a day seems insurmountable. I've worked jobs like that in the past and I can't fathom doing them for the rest of my life. I understand that a job is probably going to be orders of magnitude less demanding than grad school and I don't have to take any work home with me, but I don't know how much that's going to mitigate my stress. Has anyone else been in a similar situation?

K1 is easily my favorite Yakuza game so far (0, 3, and both Kiwamis). It's just such a slick experience compared to 0. The bosses are obviously pretty terrible, although Yakuza has never had good bosses anyway.

I do not care about the specifics of this because that's not what the topic is about. This is a completely different subject. The 9-1-1 topic PROMPTED this one; that doesn't mean this one is also about 9-1-1 or anything discussed in the topic because, again, I have not read it and I do not care about it. There's a high power group that wants to limit the number of queer characters because of bigotry and they are often successfully able to point at international marketing to to justify their bigotry as a business decision. This pressures a lot of creators to change their story from intended purposes and hide that a character is queer. The people on twitter are sick of that and complain. You are taking aim at those complaints.

If you actually want it normalized, representation is a huge factor in normalizing it. A character just being queer without it being a plot point or a joke just as they could be British without it being a plot point or a joke is normalization.

I agree that representation is good and I have never said otherwise. That being said, good representation and normalization also includes making these depictions (or at least a lot of them) mundane and without attention called to them, and as I've already stated, there is a non-trivial amount of pressure on creators and actual real life people to do the opposite. In addition, there are plenty of people that are "openly" gay or trans or whatever, but tend not to explicitly state it to everyone they know because it simply isn't relevant 90% of the time.

Here is the context:

The character didn't go on some soapbox to announce they're bisexual. They didn't announce they're bisexual at all. They just happened to have a scene where they kissed a fellow man.

Do you think this is "announcing" their sexuality? Please explain.

I'll preface this by stating that this has no relevance to anything I've said previously. Objectively, this is revealing new information to the audience that they didn't know before, so it is, in some sense, "announcing" it to the audience, but nowhere close to getting on a soapbox and delivering a speech to the world. It's also much better writing, obviously; a bi person tends to give more kisses to the same sex than announcements that they're bi to the world. As I've been discussing it, though, I wouldn't consider it an announcement. Unpacking (the game) has some really excellent diegetic storytelling to show that the main character is bi, and I love it for that.

Please, find me a single instance of me talking disparagingly not just of this instance of a character's sexuality being revealed, but of ANYONE's sexuality being revealed in this topic. That's really fucking dense. If someone gets attacked for going to a play, do you say "people shouldn't have to go to the play if they don't want to" or do you say "don't fucking attacking people." I'm not saying only talk about the world's biggest issue. I'm saying within a issue prioritize. Like how we had to stop lynchings before we talked about housing redlining. Redlining is absolutely a huge fucking problem but lynchings had to be stopped first. There are a lot of people that feel afraid to express their sexuality, that feel afraid to write a character as they want to. That needs to be stopped first.

Yes, lynchings are obviously bad. That doesn't mean I'm not allowed to discuss redlining in any capacity until all lynchings stop, or that I need to make 7 topics about lynchings for every 1 topic I make about redlining.

Lets first work on society not getting upset when it is announced. How is that not the bigger issue?

If you're so concerned about bigger issues, why isn't literally everything you post about concerning climate change or nuclear proliferation or world hunger or malaria? An issue being "bigger" doesn't mean I'm not allowed to talk about smaller issues, and I think it should be implicit in everything that I've said that people that get upset about people openly expressing and embracing their identities are bad.

Okay, so you're just making shit up that I didn't say. Cool! Let me make it very clear for you, then: There is absolutely nothing wrong with announcing your identity to the world. Go for it if that's what you want to do. By the same coin, however, there should be zero pressure on you to do so because that's what you do when you're gay or trans or any other number of things. I don't like to pull out my identity in topics like this because my arguments are equally correct regardless of who makes them, but I'm openly pan and I crossdress and my partner is openly non-binary. You need to stop reading the worst possible intentions into what I say for no reason whatsoever.
