Just had the god luck with a late game demon build in battlegrounds.

Top 3 was:

My Demons (gold mal'ganis, 2x imp mama, gold voidlord, juggler, other crap)
Late game Mackerel
Late game Deathrattle/Cleave

And I felt absurdly unfavored.
Because the numbers on the screen told me that I was absurdly unfavored. I won a 17% round to stay alive against the cleave comp. (dealt minimal damage because only a single token survived). Then I hit a sub 30% tie to stay alive against the mackerel comp. (it was still a divine shield/mech comp, it became mackerel the following fight). Then I hit the 13% win against the cleave comp but the imp mamas did major work and so I got the kill. Then I hit the about 20% win against the mackerel comp to take 1st.

Taken as a set my chance to not-die was around 1.3%.

Granted I was feeling pretty miserable as it was progressing because I kept seeing the low% chances AND it NEVER LET ME FIGHT THE GHOST. We were on 3 players for awhile and they were just taking turns against the ghost while I had to alternate fighting each of them. Consequently they both took the first opportunity to go to 6 and I was stuck rolling on 5 because I never got a reprieve.

Regarding Noz vs Rafaam though, I will take Rafaam if i'm offered both.

I think I'm more likely to take 1st with Rafaam, but I'm more likely to top 4 with Rafaam. Noz is fantastic for consistency because seeing more rolls is going to help you, but you are still limited to buying the same power level things as everyone else. Rafaam is providing you 1 gold minions starting on turn 2 and those minions are going to help you finish triples, especially triples of either spawn or common taunts. So you end up getting 7 on board the fastest and just generally being in a position where it would be very difficult to bottom 4.

I think I take KT over Noz these days as well for a similar reason. KT's 5, 7 and 8 gold turns are just super nutty unless you super low roll your windows.

Noz can level on 7 gold and potentially get a 3 drop earlier than everyone else. Same with 9 gold and 4 drops.

Elise says "hi"

Also she can Discover the 3 and 4 drop which increases it's likelihood to be a premium minion of that tier.

Noz is better than elise overall because his hero power is valued at like 10+ gold over the course of the game, but Elise is strong for that same reason.

I ended up taking second that game to a guy who had the absolute nuts at a VERY early turn.

He had double mackerel with 4 other murlocs. All had divine shield and poisonous and the mackerel were taunted so they got the DS resets after every hit.

I tried to transition after that loss but ran out of time. I should have tried the thing where I exited the game and rejoined to get more time. Either that or stuck with beasts and hard rolled for a ghoul and a second cleave.

Hindsight!

Her family was a lot of "have patience, keep trying", but that's difficult to hear because we're both 34 and we know that from a purely biological standpoint we're on the precipice of the stark dropoff in pregnancy viability. There's really no "right" way to react to the news though I guess.

the gold works out perfectly to level on 6 gold and 7 gold and your chance of hitting a triple on a 1 star unit is fairly high at that point. Throw in the fact that you will almost certainly NOT drop a round during that stretch and you are in great shape. I am very hard pressed to want to level on 4gold when you consider all that.

I have not encountered anyone else doing it in my games yet. But I think as long as you are offered 1 on turn 1 or 2 it's fine to force it, there are few enough minions on 1 that it would take extraordinary levels of bad luck to not find at least one contributing minion each turn.

Just had another strong Tier1 Saurolisk game! It turned into a marathon of a game where I only got second because the last guy was able to full pivot from divine shield mechs to poison mackerel over a single turn. It forced a tie on the turn I would have killed him, and then the following turn he had added a SECOND poison mackerel so it was over for me.

I ended up tiering up to 2 as soon as I had 2 gold saurolisk and 1 gold wrathweaver, and then eventually tiered up to 3 when it cost 0 gold. The game ran 21 turns because I typically only dealt 2-4 damage when I won lol, but I basically didn't lose from turn 3 to 18 so it was just a matter of waiting until everyone else killed each other. At one point on two I discovered a zerus from a triple which gave me Foe-Reaper so I had a cleave to lead off for awhile, but eventually I had to trade it so I could tech ghoul and give myself a chance to beat the last guy.

This just feels like the legitimate safest way to play and top 4 with certain heroes. And because the games run so long I think Noz can definitely be one of those heroes. My hero power ended up being worth 20 gold by the end of the game.

I've done it 6x now and I've gained MMR all but 1 time. I think it's a legit strategy, particularly with some heroes.

1) While you are doing this you can ALSO get a golden wrathweaver. In these situations the 2/1 demon will buff your saurolisks AND give your wrathweaver +4/+4.

2) Once you are receiving +4/+4 for every deathrattle (either 2 golden saurolisks or 1 golden and 2 regular) it is definitely correct to level up. Especially combined with the wrathweaver stuff because that gives you plenty of extra demons to take, AND it gives you another demon WITH deathrattle.

3) I thought this strat would be good with millhouse because I thought I would just buy out every window and keep crap in my hand to remove things from the pool, but it's not. Don't do it with millhouse.

4) ALWAYS do this strat with George. I just had a round where I would have gotten first if someone hadn't highrolled double mackerel poison divine shield. It wasn't just that they got the complete late game murloc build, it was how EARLY they landed on it. The starting divine shields + the re-shields from the likely gold selfless hero are just amazing.

Maiev does indeed lock a spot in the shop (you can reroll but the dormant minion stays and occupies a slot). It'll take some time for people to learn how to play this right--the one streamer I saw was hero powering into the lategame, and I'm pretty sure that's just the wrong play. You want to hero power early when you want more buys, and not hero power late when you want more rolls.

I feel like there are some turns where this will just naturally make sense to do.

Turn 5 without a token can be a solid buy/reroll/dormant turn and turns where you are expecting to level the following turn you can squeeze in the 1 mana buy and know that you weren't going to reroll much (if at all) on the following turn so you mitigate the number of rerolled units you are passing on seeing.

Turn 8 comes to mind for this as well bedcause turn 9 is such a common Upgrade for 6 and Buy 1 thing turn.

Or if you see a pair and you aren't sure you can justify throwing 3 gold at a unit that you might not ever triple it can be a good investment there as well and so the buffed copy might just sit in your hand all game but you only paid 1 gold for it and you'll end up hitting more triples overall?

Just some thoughts.

I'm excited to get into BGs later and play around with them.
