I like the Brohan lynch because of what we stand to learn from it, especially if it's a scum flip, but that's much worse reasoning than your initial vote.

Also things like pronouns and keeping dead names straight can be difficult. I try to use they/them neutral pronouns when I'm not sure, but then two games ago I got yelled at by BCT for not assuming and using he/him. Unless lea is someone that Brohan has interacted with extensively I wouldn't call what just happened egregious, personally.

I'm not sure if I'm sold on Brohan as scum. But he's not confirmed town either and if he weren't scum I'd feel pretty town confident on dumey, ulti and lea for getting the ball rolling at points where it easily didn't have to be.

Alternatively the repositioning of votes could be a result of a scum Ulti being the current leader heading into this afternoon?

Last game (sorry Brohan) we had 3 town leading the very low votals and things stagnated until the final 30 minutes, but today it feels like things have been shifting more.

I might be giving Ulti too much stock for being the first to say his Feline Grace trait name, and having Sultan back it up. I have no idea if scum would have the info needed to do something like that. I think that's the main hurdle in the way of me changing my opinion of Ulti. Probably dumb to let a meta thing like that cloud my view.

Scum would certainly have a list of town traits and with the fact that traits don't have to be unique to s single person then it's very possible he could make that play as scum.

The bigger point in his favor is claiming to literally be a cat I think? Even though I provided the specific flavor name (which in hindsight I should not have done) it's something he had more or less locked himself into early on.

I remember Corrik voted ashe and then issued a couple more times, but I don't remember them being substantive.

He came back on page 9 of topic 1 to do his standard 'i haven't read anything, ask me questions' schtick.

Then on page 2 of topic 2 (shortly before FD/Crescent flavor chat) he posted some 'reads' (T2P74) but didn't give any justification so it felt more like vibes and pot stirring than Corrik actually rolling up his sleeves and doing work.

But maybe I'm not giving him enough credit for those posts.

Corrik probably gets a pass because he tends to self resolve. He's usually trying to be unhelpful town to hide as power to make scum less likely to shoot him and he usually ups his game after day 1. Consequently he usually gets shot and it's usually the correct play by scum. And if he never dies we can sus him, but its not a day 1 concern.

Brohan doesn't get the same latitude and I'd be really inclined to join the pressure there if Ulti hadn't jumped onto it so fast. It's probably still fine, but he followed dumey (the person he called scum) so fast that it gives me pause.

I'm having trouble reconciling your reaction to that whole saga. You came around to him being town, but not before taking a hard line and insisting he could NOT be functionally vanilla.

At that point I was operating under the assumption that Crescent's confusion was stemming from the fact that she had one or multiple traits with 0 total powers (a "functional vanilla"). Basically the same type of confusion that it turned out ulti had today instead.

But I was trying to use leading questions to make sure that she understood the game mechanics and was no longer being tripped up by the pm formatting.

Instead it turns out her confusion was the opposite and instead the result of a single trait with a well defined power.

In the case of ulti all can I discern from flavor research is that there is an actual cat in the game that can be rescued by survivors. So he might be be Jones the cat? But there is also a Halloween update this year where some of the killers have cat-themed variants. Though in that case they don't appear to literally be cats?

So I'd assume Jones, but that cat doesn't really work with the survivors? It seems more like an optional objective to save the cat if you have the car carrier?

Either way it's hard to imagine the role PM is written so poorly as to be unable to be parsed. Or for it to lead someone to believe the have two powers that aren't specifically spelled out. Very hard to see it as anything other than a fake claim

Any word or words that follow 'solo queue' will have been defined.

If those definitions do not detail any passive or active powers then you do not have any passive or active powers.

If one of your traits is defined as being unlynchable then that would be a passive power. I'm on board with testing that.

Considering I just woke up and was posting all of my thoughts at once.

It was still a post referencing ashe after ashe had essentially said nothing and received two votes. The fact that you had enough of a thought that you felt it warranted inclusion in your post is still relevant.

That still makes it an 'ashe related post based on not much' even if you didn't have the context of a second vote.

But the bottom line is that I don't feel like I missed a bunch of ashe content posts so I stand by my catching up read from last night. There was the whole exchange with wallz but that came AFTER ashe was a topic of discussion and it only made me feel better about them.

Topic 1 re-read of Ashe posts:

-comment about solo queue being the real killer. (reference to actual dbd gaming culture?)

It was at this point ulti voted ashe for failing the vibe check and he clapped himself in the back for his track record of catching scum page 1 topic 1.

-(about a page later) vote on wallz for the inconsistency on his dumey posts
(which was later explained by wallz as not really stopping his teeth in before bed after the jags W,)

And that was the entirety of Ashe posts from topic 1. I still don't see what the fuss was about, especially now that I've reminded myself that it all started from an off the cuff ulti post. As far as I can tell ashe showed up, received two quick votes because of 'vibes' and ended up on some lists as someone worth considering. But the amount of Ashe discussion seemed inconsistent with the actual posts being made.

Which actually could be an interesting point. In a scenario where ulti's shot in the dark landed (broken clocks twice a day, etc) it COULD be a situation where Ashe's scummates wouldn't want to NOT mention ashe for fear of looking worse later?

Sultan, Brohan, Death, Crescent, Sultan were the fastest to include some ashe thoughts after the two votes from ulti and Corrik.

Sultan was the most interesting because he went from:
"don't mind Ulti he just loves to have everyone claim super fast for no reason lol"
to
"very meh null but on the scum end".

I'm not seeing any reason for him to have developed a scum lean on Ashe overnight.

It's the combination of the odd timing of voting an inactive person and then not reacting to my return in any way.

This is the same vibe I got from ulti last game and he was scum.
That could just be recency bias, but the only have I joined before that was hosted by ulti so I don't have access to any recent memories of him as town.

Ulti is very quick to tell you what ulti is or isn't. He called himself town 80 times last game during the first few days and then all but called himself scum 80 times on the final day. They were interesting bookends to be sure, but I'm not a fan of his assurances about himself.

That's where I'm at. I'm not happy with crescent but I don't think anything I'm unhappy with is a reason she is scum.

Nah the timing of ulti's vote was just awful.

You don't put pressure on the person who hasn't checked in after less than 24 hours. You put pressure on the person who HAS checked in but hasn't really said anything. What is the vote going to do to someone who hasn't even seen it?

I honestly liked the comment that Crescent's lack of understanding traits means she isn't likely to be on a scum team. I would be amazed if that were an act of some kind.

Let me be clear. I have at least two traits. One of my traits clearly states it's purpose in game, my "role" as Crescent would like to simplify it to. The other COULD just be flavor, or it could have an impact on the game, but doesn't tell me explicitly. This is part of why I asked if Red was actually just an XY Miller, or something like a Misunderstood YZ. To see if he had a non-explicit trait that he was inferring how he scans based off of it. Again, it is very possible that he could be something like Misunderstood Vanilla

Maybe I'm wrong, but my assumption after reading OP has been that our "roles" (if you want to call them that, but why would you because we don't have roles we have traits) would take the form of:

or

or

So if red has claimed to literally be given a role of "miller" rather than having a trait that made him functionally a miller I would believe he was lying. Which is what I thought you were going for but apparently not, lol.

By crescent's own admission she has a trait that corresponds with her action but it's 'renamed' from what would normally be expected of it's mafia role counterpart. So I would be surprised if anyone is called a "vanilla" anything even if they have 1-3 traits that don't provide any abilities. Unless Isquen was being cheeky and one of our characters has a 'vanilla personality' or something.

I'm really not trying to focus on trait meta though, I was just trying to make sure this game's functions were being understood correctly as they seemed to be described by the host.
