I had a golden Elistra for a chunk there, but then I had a window with 3 Soul Devourer's in it so I couldn't pass up +9/+9 on my demon so I replaced it with the backup Elistra i'd been holding onto. Not pictured here is the 7 ghouls (2 golden 1 regular) that I had in hand because I purchased as many as I saw to keep them out of the pool for everyone else. And even if they had a ghoul there is a reasonable chance my Macaw would take it's second swing after popping the ghoul so I'd still end up with 4 active divine shield.

Checked Lord Barov off the list after a very tense Big Elemental game that went some 18 rounds. That was my first time playing him and he's very stressful because you have to not only manage your own board, but be paying enough attention to everyone else's to make smart bets, and even when you are hitting the bets that is just making your turn more complicated due to coin management.

Finally picked up a crown with C'Thun. Now still dozens remain, but that's one less!

Another crown with Dinotamer Brann followed by another with Edwin VanCleef. I stabilized in both games with under 5 HP and went on to win. Still soooooo many heroes to go. I basically didn't play battlegrounds at all between when they added the achievements and just recently.

Depending on your job it can be really hard to line up an employer beforehand. But I think the vouching system could be handled better. Make it more like co-signing for a house. If you are vouching for someone to come to this country so either they will be able to support themselves shortly after arrival or you will support them until they can.

If the next 4 years are not awful I will be surprised if Harris is not at the top if the ticket in 2024.

And honestly I'm hoping 2-3 years in Biden will step down for "health reasons" or whatever convenient excuse presents itself so she can run as the 1-2 year incumbent rather than the VP, I'm guessing that will move the needle at least a bit. So she would then be the first female president and then later become the first female elected to be president.

But that's putting the cart in front of the horse so we'll take it one non-dumpster-fire day at a time for now.

You have to take the same approach you take with poker.

you are going to get some bad beats, but if you play your best game you will generate enough of a difference to have the % work out in your favor.

If you can use your skill to win 54% of your games at a high level of play then you are very very good. But you are also still losing nearly half of your games. You just have to be okay with that, because a 54% edge in something like poker would make you a bajillionaire.

The analogy I really liked about this involves a game of monopoly between two players.

Player 1 gets to take 100 turns while player 2 sits on start.

So for 100 turns player 1 is accumulating wealth and property. After this player 1 probably owns most of the board.

Then player 2 is allowed to start, and the two players take turns as normal.

And they play, taking turns, for 100 more turns. But this only widens the disparity between the two players because player 1 was holding most the cards by the time player 2 was allowed to participate. So for most of the turns player 2 is just landing on player 1's property and paying rent.

Player 2 complains this is unfair.

Player 1 says "of course it's fair, we've both been following the same rules for 100 turns now"

Even if we assume black people are being treated completely fairly now relative to white people (which is not a given) the disparity in their starting positions has still created systemic inequalities. The analogy is a bit over simplified, but it should be easy enough for all but the most obtuse to understand.

I don't think tony realizes how recently the $600 was passed and issued and seems to think there were these months-like conversations about $2000 after the $600.

It was passed on December 27th.
It started being direct deposit on January 4th.

It was being discussed for MONTHs prior to those dates, with one side saying $2000 and the other side saying $0 and then eventually the compromise of $600 was reached.
And the side saying $2000 made attempts to amended the $600 amount to $2000 prior to it's release.

So where on earth does this "democrats keep talking about $2000 after the $600 like it's a brand new thing" come from?

Basically Tony doesn't have a proper perception of the passage of time.

But yeah your situation sounds fairly unique. I've only seen a handful of cases where there wasn't some situation that directly and clearly explains the delay. Usually from people who didn't file taxes that they thought they did, so we didn't have information on file for the right years to generate a stimulus. Or someone who didn't realize they were being claimed as a dependent by someone else. But it seems like you might actually fall into the "if all else fails and nothing makes sense, just claim it on 2020" bucket.

This part specifically is why EIP#2 should have been thrown forward to the 2021 taxes, because there simply isn't enough time to sort out lingering issues before people are going to be filing for 2020.

It was fine for EIP#1 to be part of 2020, because it was issued back in April/May for most people and that that allowed like 7 months for us to troubleshoot and resolve systemic problems that prevented people from receiving it. But to issue payments on January 4th/6th for most people and then have a TWO WEEK* window to resolve issues? It's madness. If they had just punted it into 2021 taxes it would give us all year to amended EIP#2 to increase the funds, or to troubleshoot problems with people receiving it. But just because it was passed/signed the last week of 2020 here we are.

But i'm also getting sick of the damn stimulus because that's all I get calls about for 8 hours a day right now. Who on earth thought it would be a good idea to put the IRS in charge of issuing these payments, and who thought it would be a good idea to have the second stimulus ALSO be part of the 2020 taxes when we are going to start accepting 2020 returns in less than a month so it gives us actually no time at all to resolve EIP#2 issues before they become superseded by the 2020 returns coming in, some of which will contain claims for unreceived stimulus issues.

It's a F***ing nightmare.
