Eagle/sami is THE classic broken combo for sure.

My favorite tag though was andy/hawke, 7 HP heals and 2 HP damage to every enemy. Plus hawke having such a big meter made it perfect because you could just be him most of the time to rack it up and him filling faster made it sync really well with andy's average meter, timing wise, and he made up for andy's lack of a passive skill.

In a way, last week was the purest form of American football. The better team almost always won (including some nailbiters), and there were TONS of injuries, many important ones too. Through it all though, foxhead84 and DoomTheGyarados (gfaqs own't let me ping for some reason) took the honors with 15 wins! DtG lost their perfect bid pretty early on with Indy, while foxhead84 took it to the very end only to lose with the Saints. Tough breaks. As for upsets, IND and LV were the only underdogs that won, with 11 and 8 picks respectively. Good job to those who called it!

Chain battle definitely had promise, I think it was just freaking obtuse in how it explained it. It also had the same kind of issue that a lot of EZA's have where it's like "You cannot do this unless you have one of a select few units"

I totally get feeling like that, but I'm the opposite I think, the new hardest content makes me want to conquer it. I'm more the type to go through natural phases of "okay I'm just bored of this for a while" and pick back up later, independent of what the new content may be. Like if I get to the point where I 100% ESBR and that's teh hardest thing, that's probably the end of my current cycle. But yeah I totally get why just ramping up difficulty to be beyond fair (Kinda like lunatic+ in fire emblem games) won't hold appeal with some people.

The angel goku on that run is interesting, were you able to get his def stacked high enough? Or was it more about the heals he gives?

To be fair, "degree of right" does matter in some cases. Like if someone goes "I wouldn't be surprised if x team wins this game"and they win, I wouldn't give that person credit because they essentially straddled the line, intentionally or otherwise, to where they'd "Technically" be right either way, but they didn't go out and actually make a prediction. Covering your bases, essentially.

In regards to david's initial post, obv he didn't intend it to be this way but I do think it was vague enough that it might have come off as the above situation. It's a little murkier with spreads usually, but a lot of people see "implying" as basically just a half-assed pick rather than going all in and actually making a pick (which in theory opens yourself up to meaningless shame and/or ridicule but greater 'reward' if you get it right)

Some minor housekeeping I forgot to mention the first go round, the playoffs are going to be top 12 + ties at the end of the season, unless there are serious objections. It was just top 12 before with a tiebreaker but I think it kinda sucks for someone to do just as well as someone else and miss out on a chance to win it all based on some random tiebreaker.

Also, as I've been doing it, if you miss 3 weeks of picks in a row I will be assuming you have lost interest and you'll be removed from the standings. Just less work for me that way.

However, there were no ties at the end last year, so only 12 made it, but that's how it will likely be is top 12 plus ties.

I'd like to propose something, I was talking with Wickle and I don't really think the deadline on picks makes sense personally. P much everything else has a "that game" deadline on it (IE you can make picks for 4 PM before then, same for 8 PM etc), how would people feel about that being changed? Wickle said it was just a holdover from the previous ruleset.

Not trying to cause trouble, I kinda figure most people will just be like "Eh, whatever" but it's just something that makes more sense to me so I wanted to maybe get the ball rolling on it some.
