I don't think lebron meant to like, whap stewart in the face and make him bleed, but I do think he meant to hit him. So, no, it wasn't accidental.

expectations are like a 4-to-6-seed. we are 2-5 right now with multiple losses to the wizards and a 0-3 record at home. celtics have no realistic way to getting better now that they've paid everyone and tatum and brown are no longer on rookie contracts. tatum and brown are still young, but they can't get that much better at age 23-25. two superstars are simply supposed to be a lot better than this.
They have horford on a big 1 year deal (+1 nonguaranteed), could they possibly deal him and some of those young assets for a guy if such a person becomes available?

Okay so what I'm hearing is that there's no valid reason and it's just overreaction

Don't get me wrong, I definitely think a team with tatum and brown should be performing better than they are, but I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything. This doesn't really seem equivalent to a sixers situation for example, where you have to press hard to make the most of the window RIGHT NOW.

So, can someone explain why exactly the celtics not winning RIGHT NOW is such a big deal? I know things have looked kinda blah the past couple of years but you have both brown and tatum locked up for at least another couple years, brown is like 25 and tatum is 23, neither guy has even hinted publicly at any sort of serious dissatisfaction to the point the celtics should be worried they'll leave, you have a couple more young guys who are believed to be future contributors (robert williams, pritchard, nesmith)...why exactly is the panic button being pressed so hard? There's still plenty of time as of right now.

The NBA is doing it? Not some news source...the NBA itself? Is actively trying to oust one of its owners? That must be really bad

I guess. Just saying though, no one ever holds out with more than 1 year on their contract until ben simmons tried it.

What if a team tries to offer a 1-2 year deal just to screw with the suns? Could that happen?

If he doesn't get injured though, or have a bad season, he can just take the QO and be unrestricted next year, which maybe to him is worth it to get out of phoenix if they don't want to offer him the 5 years

I mean at that point, its' not like you have anything to lose. Everyone thinks he can get the default max on the market if the suns don't give him 5 years, so would you rather take 4 years with phoenix when you think you're worth 5, or 4 years with another place that wants you more than phoenix does? I'd take the latter.

A very interesting wrinkle to the ayton stuff that I just heard on windhorst's pod, it's quite possible that the reason the suns didn't want to offer ayton a 5 year deal specifically (It wasn't about the money, but the years. They wanted 4, ayton wanted 5) is because that would've made him a designated player, which would be their 2nd of 2. Which would mean they might have designs to acquire a designated player from elsewhere and wanted to have them, ayton, and booker all at once.

I mean, they aren't wrong imo. Ayton isn't a max caliber player, he's close to it.

But they still need to pay him the max anyway because that's just how sports work. Sometimes you have to overpay for talent or you end up with no talent.
