What's on your mind, everyone? I'm frustrated with work right now since I'm quitting my current job, but they're introducing a new clock-in/pay website thingy which will only be relevant for me for two weeks and the only day I can be trained on it was on a day and time I had planned to get dinner with my friends.

working on a SECRET PROJECT right now. since my last major writing project ended not too long ago I have a bit more free time on my hands and I feel more motivated to put energy toward other pursuits.

also I'm going to be moving in a few months which is pretty exciting. I feel like I've stagnated quite a bit where I am right now. a nice change of scenery, and the opportunity to be around new and different people, plus the challenge of adapting to a new setting. all of that stuff is difficult but it can also be rewarding.

Sounds like you're having a good time! I still plan to get you something on your Steam wishlist for Christmas, too. :P I hope your SECRET PROJECT turns out well. If there's anything I can do to help/participate, let me know! I sometimes miss topics and don't see them until a million other people have posted.

I've only moved once (moving out of my grandparents' house), but that was still within the same city. All my friends live here though, so I couldn't imagine leaving this town. But hey, if a change of scenery is what you need, then hopefully it works out.

Oh hell yeah. Me too. I struggle something fierce getting up in the morning. This semester I had to be in at 10am. I live about an hour away, so I had to leave at 9. I struggle getting up and it takes me about an hour to get ready to go. So yeah, it was kind of a pain. But it's better than Night Classes. Had those last Semester and I hate driving in the dark.

Well I hate driving any time, but I think I prefer night time when there aren't as many assholes on the road. Actually, I live in a regular-ish sized city and the university I went to is in a small town about 30 minutes away on the freeway. But there was a nice bus route that would take students from the bus plaza in my city to the student building. For the last two years of university, I lived a block away from that bus stop so I'd just walk there and take the bus. Sometimes I would study or do homework while on the bus.

I'm in the point where all my classes are enjoyable. Got all my general educations out of the way first so I could focus in on the important classes. Really good choice, because I enjoy what I'm doing. Well, until I put all my work off until a week before my finals.

Yeees, that's when university is good. When it's all fun classes that are in the major your chose. I took my sweet time finding what I wanted. My first two years were worthless. I took general education classes and some other stupid stuff just to get a taste of what I wanted to do. I also took two years of Japanese just because I was a weeb. >_> I didn't know I wanted to go into biology until I took it my third year lol.

A: I hope its an actual trial. Or at least as close to a real trial as Umineko can get. Kangaroo court, more like.

The game talks about how on the gates of hell, it says you must abandon all hope. But in Purgatory, you have hope and that is a worse torture than anything else in hell. This really seems to resonate with Arria, I think because shes been watching another show about heaven/hell/purgatory recently.

We get to THE TRIAL
A: I have a question and I fear I wont like the answer. If this is a trial: who is the judge?
K: Who do you think?
A: Nobody Im going to be okay with
K: Clearly the game master.
A: I was afraid of that. But shes also fucking the prosecution. You dont see a problem with this?

And then Hideyoshi is killed and Eva loses it.
A: So Ive been thinking that in this game, Eva, Hideyoshi, and George are all in it together. If we go with the theory there, hes not dead. Hes faking it for frame Natsuhi. Also, Eva has been acting a little more differently in this episode. Shes always freaked out when her family dies, but shes not usually howling at the moon in sorrow. Shes more of alright, time to fuck you, too, bitch. I know, I know, you could chalk it up as Lambda is controlling her.
K: Thats true, but I think you have a point. I think Eva is acting a bit differently in this episode compared to others.
We then discuss another aspect of Eva that has been subconscious in both of us and we just now found the words to explain it. Theres something about her that she has a lot of presence. Like, when either of us think Umineko Eva is one of the first to come to mind, and were not sure why. Shes far from being the most important or prominent character. But she just sticks out in your mind.

A: This has been an informative session and my brain is still reeling.

A: I dont know about you, but if I were in a murder mystery, I wouldnt be taking a nap without checking ALL the closets.
A: Games like this make me paranoid

Battler made a suggestion and then Erika was like no, I already checked that. It doesnt work.

A: that would be an interesting idea for a story, though. Where if the murderer is found, all his victims come back to life.

The game tells us Natsuhi has some experience with a naginata

A: Also not really a weapon you can, yknow hide. Doubt it would come in handy here!

Natsuhi goes to put herself in the closet per the mans orders. She wonders if she should lock the door, then decides its better not to do anything unnecessary.

Back to Erika on the island and she just loses it and keeps talking to Bern. Im not a failure or a disappointment! And everyone is like who the fuck is this girl talking to?
K: Its like when you have out of character moments in role-play. Now Bern is asking Lambdadelta to pretend that OoC moment never happened, and Lambda was nice enough to agree to it.

Beatrice from Natsuhis imagination goes to the underside of the gameboard where the dead sacrifices are. She meets Virgilia her.
Virgilia: Oh, youre here, too? Youre in high spirits!
Beatrice: High spirits and a captivating body! Add in my charming disposition, and youve got my only strong points!
A: *laughs* Shes not wrong, either

They mention the Voyager witches and I think Arria forgot that terminology because she had to ask about it
K: It refers to Lambda and Bern. Witches who read stories. They travel from one story to the next.

Bern and Erika try to solve the mystery of the letter vs. Lambdadelta
A: This is like watching a fencing match.

I noticed Lambdadelta said Shannon and Kanon who were pushing the cart and now I cant help notice the silliness in having two people push the cart. Of course, Arria didnt question it. Shes too distracted by the mystery of the letter and the knock itself.
A: Well this is annoying!

A: Oh! Lambda just made a loophole. Theyve been continuously saying at midnight this happened. Or at midnight all you people were in the dining room. However, here she says they heard the knock at the same time as the 24:00 bell. What if the clock was wrong? What if it was 20 minutes off? Then it works!
K: Has it been saying midnight? Or 24:00?
A: Oh you may be right.

K: Ill be honest, I dont know the solution either. This is something that kinda gets swept under the rug later. (I know it has something to do with it never happened but I dont remember why, and with all this red text going around, it made me rethink that it DID happen)
If anyone else knows the solution to the mystery of the knock, I'd love to hear it!

Arria noticed that Dlanor doesnt all-caps the names of people at the end of sentences. She pointed out Cornelias name, and then mentioned she saw Battlers name as normal in the previous scene.
K: I think its because a lot of the non-Japanese names are already in katakana, and for those that are written in Kanji, using katakana would imply they are witches. I dont know what she does in Japanese, but Ryukishi probably deliberately left names as normal so they wouldnt be misinterpreted as witch-names, and I suspect the translators did the same thing.
(At that point, Shannon and Kanon were on the screen)
A: Ah, I get it. Or else every time she said a persons name, it would suggest that person is a witch. (imitating Oprah) Battler is a witch! Shannon is a witch! Kanon is a witch! Everyone is a witch!

Oh yeah, those are some newer VAs than what I'm used to. I know and enjoy the first two. The third is a familiar name, but off hand I don't know who he's voiced, and I don't know the last two.

We start with Dlanor saying I dont UNDERSTAND. All of a sudden, in that instant, use of that trump card became FORBIDDEN. Once we lost that, your victory was GUARANTEED.

Battler: That battle was a farce in Lambdadeltas hand
A: Yes! And?
Dlanor: I do not like IT

K; Or maybe shes talking about the clown movie
A: So many meanings of capitalized-IT

Dlanor: However, my heart is always NEUTRAL
A: This reminds me of a Futurama episode where they go to a planet of neutral people. And then a guy is dying and hes like if I dont survive, tell my wife hello.

I agree! Do you have any favorite English voice actors? I admit I haven't watched much dubbed stuff recently so I'm not familiar with a lot of the new voice actors. Arria and I both have voice-crushes on Liam O'Brien though I haven't heard him in a while. Same with Laura Bailey. More recently I've been hearing Patrick Seitz (in Octopath Traveler and the Radiata Stories remake) and daaamn his voice is pretty as well.
