It takes such sophistry and willful ignorance to declare that the Supreme Court is non-partisan "because they said so!" The material reality is that a seat once held by a notoriously liberal justice is going to be transfered to an extremely conservative justice, and this will materially affect the fundamental rights that women and minorities in America enjoy. The Republicans blocked Obama's nomination and are rushing this nomination because they know the partiality of the Supreme Court and how important it is in enacting their regressive agenda. Anybody who blows steam about the non-partisanship of the judiciary needs to sit down and shut up. --- |
