I played Secret of Mana to completion a little over 10 years ago or so, and I couldn't tell you a thing about it. The characters, the plot, the locations, it's all a total blank.

I also played and finished Seiken Densetsu 3 soon after, and that one didn't fare much better. All I have is a vague recollection of the early parts of Riesz's route.

The best way I've found to catch the gigas clams is to just sneak up on them the whole time. Slowly swim up to it until you're decently close (but not too close, or else your dive will scare it), dive, and then continue slowly swimming underwater until you reach it.

After several weeks of getting absolutely nothing out of my orange cosmos pairs, I get two black cosmos in the three days. Got my first green mum today too. Now it's just down to the blue roses to complete my flower breeding quest.

Saharah's visiting me today, and I noticed that she now lets you make another selection rather than just ending the conversation after you buy something, which is a nice change.

Initial swimming thoughts: being able to continue swimming while underwater is a huge improvement over how it was in New Leaf.

Got a couple Love Sources, so now I'm down to just that one item for the Collectopaedia. (I honestly can't remember even picking up the item I needed for the first trade; the second came from beating the Lv105 Unique on the Fallen Arm)
Colony 6 has given me at least one of seemingly every collectable from Agniratha but the one I'm looking for.

Two items away from completing the Collectopaedia, but one is something I missed in a now-inaccessible area, and doesn't seem to be available via trade. Now I can only hope that one of them shows up in Colony 6, I guess. (The other is the Love Source, of course)

Meanwhile, Colony 6 is completely rebuilt, repopulated, 5*, and there don't seem to be any more side quests available, so now I'm off to build affinities and hunt Uniques.

Haha, I pretty much just soloed the level 70 UM in the Factory with Riki (lv 69). I had a team of Riki/Shulk/Sharla. It used the flamethrower attack to start and the blaze damage killed Shulk/Sharla right away. I didn't have any blue bar to revive them, so I basically just sat there doing DoT attacks and using You Can Do It whenever it refreshed. Towards the end I got a burst affinity so I revived Sharla (I didn't know who I was reviving, I just hit B near a body), but Riki was plenty tanky enough that I think I still would've won without her. Bless the Heropon's monstrous HP.

Pretty sure I missed the level 57 fortress mechon on Sword Valley. He's easily the toughest enemy there. Super difficult to best the first time you're in that area, and I don't think I ever went back for him.
Yeah, I ended up passing on him too. I barely eked out a victory against the Lv53 Reinforcement Mechon, then that guy marched out to take its place and I just said "nope" and got out of there.

I didn't get the one that was near the Bionis Wound area either. And I also skipped that Lv70 one that shows up in the Factory later on.

I've only been able to get one hybrid red rose from the basic method so far. My patch of seed whites has been pretty stubborn about producing purples, so I haven't had much to work with. Only three, compared with 9 or 10 oranges. And two of them had to be shifted over to work with my alternate method.

If it's a game that I'm enjoying and the requirements aren't excessively tedious, then sure.

For example, I got all of them in FFX except for the lightning dodging one (after a run where I messed up at around 182 dodges, I couldn't take it anymore).

Meanwhile, FFXIII's ultimate weapons required you to farm incredibly rare materials to craft them, and after several days of trying, I could barely get any of those, so I gave up on it entirely. I never managed to finish the last handful of sidequests, either. Thankfully the sequels weren't nearly as brutal.

there's some fairly emotionally effective to me moments in this that are nice and the chords are way cooler than I remember, though i think the melody line itself is extremely boring and that brings this down a ton. I VERY strongly prefer Hamauzu/Nakano (and basically every non-uematsu composer involved in final fantasy series...sakimoto...M.Suzuki, mizuta..Noriko Matsueda, hayato matsuo.....COMPOSERS) over Uematsu, and one of the reasons is usually "everyone else uses 'cool chords' and uematsu doesn't" but this track actually kinda feels like he's imitating Hamauzu's "cool chords" style now that I think about it? there's a few moments with this big cool string chord blocks like what comes in at :44, feels very hamauzu. Interesting!
That's because it (partly) is Hamauzu. This piece was arranged by him.
