Netflix saw BH's success and assumed that as long as something else had Lisa Hanawalt's involvement, it'd reach the same levels of success. Nobody had any ideas and ended up settling for a loose adaptation of an old webcomic Hanawalt created. They gave her way too much pull on the project, without the talented writers/directors of BH. Kind of like how Netflix assumed anything with the Matt Groening branding would become a massive success while completely forgetting that you need good writers. |
