Not to be a debbie downer, but there is a lot more wrong with the US healthcare system than just a lack of insurance. Quality of care has gone off a cliff since COVID: you'd be lucky to get anyone to take any unusual symptoms seriously. Or if you had insurance and an interested team of doctors, the insurance would fight against the tests, surgeries, drugs, or any durable medical equipment you might need. Even trying to get a refill of meds I already take gives me hives, because it seems like the doctors who prescribed the stuff I take is never around and the rando they ask might want to try and schedule an appointment to discuss why I need the medication (as I'm running out; also, just read the goddamn records!). I don't know if they are still doing it, but for a while my doctor's office was employing people with no specialized knowledge of any kind to go through messages you sent to see if the doctor needed to read them. --- Cuteness is justice!
