Still in a damn slump, tried hard to stay into Dying Light but couldn't. Hades just came out on Game Pass and it's awesome, so hoping it holds my attention. Lot of people talked this game up when it first came out on Switch.
Hades is incredible. The gameplay loop is so satisfying which keeps it from feeling too repetitive. Plus with everything to unlock and upgrade, it always feels like you're working towards something each run. I beat the main story but still need to max out everyone's relationships.

Why upside down?
Anyway I guess it would not drip on the mother board in that case? Idk either way the clock caps in the OG xbox were cheap and it's been 20 years. They are all leaking at this point. It's a quick enough job to get access to the cap then wiggle it until it snaps off the board.

Yeah you need to get on that. You'll also need to clean that area of the board with a q-tip and alcohol cause it's a guarantee that cap has started leaking already.

I'd have to look up how to do that. I probably don't even have the proper tools.

Thankfully all my games are on a 2TB external hard drive. But I'm not sure if my save files on that or the internal HD.
You pop off the top left shiny section of the ps4 then take out the one screw holding the hard drive in with a Phillips head.

I'm pretty sure it's the HDMI port that's broke. I tried cleaning it with alcohol and a q-tip, but I still can't get it to work.

I'm pissed because I was right in the middle of a game that I was really enjoying. Also, all the games that I was planning on playing for the foreseeable future were on my PS4.

I still got other consoles to play, but it still sucks.
At least if you decide to get a new ps4, it's easy enough to move the hard drive to the new one.

I hear that a lot, i'm probably in the minority but I thought the tower defense RTS segments were a cool spin, not a lot of games change genre like that. Granted it was far from perfect, but I still liked it. I think I wound up getting all the collectibles just because I kept wanting to drive around and listen to the music, awesome soundtrack for sure.
Yeah I mean I didn't hate the RTS elements. They weren't bad but they were the weakest part of the game.

You have sysadmin, information security, data base admin, all the cloud stuff, etc. Yes a lot of the low level stuff is being off shored or automated out of existence but the skilled jobs are still there and will be for a long time. Who do you think are the people automating the lower jobs out of existence? Lol

My wife has a saying. Never order something the place doesn't specialize in cause it's never good. You don't order a pizza at a mexican place, you don't order a taco at a seafood place, and you probably shouldn't order curry at a chinese place. Just because it's not the menu doesn't mean you should order it.

I'm gonna pass out watching Jaws tonight. Haven't seen it in forever and I wanna renew my fear of sharks.
I need a ton of liquor at this point to get sleepy. Finished off the rum and switched to tequila. Just laid down with one of my dogs and hoping for the best.

Other time I felt sick in the middle of a work from home day. Laid in the bed with another of our dogs and he started licking the back of my legs under the blankets. Felt like he was licking the flesh from my legs. Got a text to restart a server so I had to throw myself out of bed onto the floor. Then crawl to the other room cause I couldn't walk to where my laptop was so I could log in and restart the server.

Off the booze for a bit and this past week i've been sleeping like 8 to 10 hours straight, falling asleep right away at night. Cocked over my work schedule a bit so I gotta catch up this weekend before Monday, I slept through a lot of my work time but damn it's nice to wake up reasonably rested.
I actually looked this up recently cause I've had sleep issues for years. Alcohol is only a depressant for X amount of hours then it reverses. It's a downer and an upper. So it may help you go to sleep but it'll eventually decide to jump start your ass up before you're ready.

In many cases, multiple career fields. Large orgs wont typically have just one security guy for instance who does everything, they will have a security team with specialists for network security, windows, Linux, physical etc
some orgs will have network engineers who specialise in routing, switching, wifi etc.
software development is its own beast
I mean yeah, I got my point across but if you want to get technical, there's even more variety within the specializations I mentioned.

Most IT start in a shallow, jack of all trades role. Then they start specilizing and moving onto better jobs. All the things you mentioned (database, network, security, etc) are deep enough to warrant their own career field. The term IT is extremely broad and doesn't accurately describe the responsibilities that everyone has.

They don't need a controller. I have two in my house and they work great. They come with their own PoE switch/cable. I have one wired into my router and my second one meshed(wirelessly connected) to the first one.

You can get a ubiquity router controller thing for them but that's for more advanced monitoring and features. If you just want something to power on and provide internet then they'll work.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm or trying to get a rise outta the IT people itt. Either way, most people think IT just means helpdesk techs.

People don't understand that unless you a massive company, there aren't dedicated helpdesk techs. Most IT people have to handle the entire infrastructure of their company. Server uptime, configuring monitoring/alerts, making sure backups are successful, working on upgrade projects the business wants, handling the budget, printers, telephone system, end user computer equipment, etc. Helpdesk is just a small part of the responsibilities required and someone who has project deadlines to hit don't have as much time for helpdesk tickets.

TBF, a lot of IT guys are snobs, though. Lots of them act holier than thou just because they hold the keys to the infrastructure kingdom.
That true. In my experience those types are slowing being phased out thankfully. They are a chore to deal with even as an IT person.
