Just an fyi, Security+ is essentially a combination of A+ and Networking+. Make sure you don't reup the A+ cert when it expires if that's something you plan to do.

Also regarding the job hunt. Make accounts on LinkedIn, Dice, and Indeed. They aren't just useful as job search engines. Recruiters search these sites to place people in jobs. I don't even have to search for jobs anymore as I have recruiters emailing me opportunities instead. Work smarter, not harder.

Honestly you won't know what you'll want to specialize in until you've been in IT for years and had a chance to get your hands on things. Spend at least your first 5 years or so being a jack of all trades. Not only will you get the hands on experience but you'll have a better understanding of how different areas work together.

Cloud is a given these days but like on prem, there's a lot of different stuff in cloud. You could be the guy managing the networking and infrastructure or running automation scripts to redeploy apps/servers. Small company you'd be doing it all, larger companies you'd be silo'ed into a particular set of responsibilities.

Make sure you learn how hybrid infrastructure works and not all cloud. Most companies have finally realized it's not cost effective to run everything in the cloud so they're pulling back and running the appropriate workloads in the cloud and on prem.

Also yeah AD is fun cause it's powerful and easy to use.

It is. The IT field values experience and self learning. While degrees and certs won't hurt, experience will outweigh them.

Yep, they had a bunch back then. I had the foil stamped 9 card danger room set and back then comic stores would pay $80 now it's not worth a dollar. I watch that Comic Book Men and the guy on the show was talking about how everyone thought that stuff would retain value, but he recently sold a box of a thousand cards for $2 because no one wants the stuff anymore.

I used to collect cards for the fun of it. Honestly now I'm just like it's a piece of cardboard with an image printed on it. Why would it be worth anything? Hell it's probably easy enough these days to find a printer that can print a replica card.

I had like 20 Goosebump books also, and a ton of Marvel cards that are virtually worthless now. You can buy a full series of X-Men cards for like $4 nowadays.

You mean those xmen card from the early 90s? I had a good few of them. Also had the entire original goosebumps collection. All...70 or something books. Sold them to a friend years ago for like $60. I don't think they have any collectors value these days.

I was a bit ahead of my age in terms of "grade" (we call it "year level" here) at that time, and we don't have America's obsession with puritanism here, or at least, not to the same extent. I haven't actually read Maus at any age where I recall its content, though, so I can only speak in general.

I definitely did hear about the Holocaust in general (though not too much detail - though I did hear of the gas showers) at around that age, though from family, not from school. I never made the connection between it and the book I spoke of, though, until much much later.

It was more that I'd be shocked if a school had their students read it. If you read it on your own that would be different.

I have a vague feeling I might've read it in school? I recall reading something that involved people having to wear stars, and at the time - to put this in context I would've been like 5 or 6? - I didn't really think much of it or even realise it was about something historical rather than just another fairytale book, and it was only much later in hindsight that I realised "oh shit that book was probably about the holocaust" (I say "probably" because by that time my memory of it was extremely unclear so don't want to claim certianty) but by this point I didn't really remember anything about it.

I'd be very disturbed if you read Maus in 1st grade. It's a graphic novel about the writer's father's time in concentration camps. Each nation's people are drawn as animals. Jewish are mice, German are cats, Polish are pigs, French are frogs, etc. The drawings can be pretty graphic.

It's really great. I haven't read it since college though.

Dry herb vaporizers use the actual bud instead of oil, so they're not only better for you than smoking it, but any herb that gets vaped can be reused for edibles since the weed gets cooked and not burned.

This. I bought my wife one last year and it's been great. Tastes better to her and it doesn't bother me since there's no smoke. Reusing the herb is also a big plus and saves money.

Yes. Taking it in and out of the dock has been known to scratch the screen. I don't take mine anywhere but I have one on it just in case.

Yeah the chocolate song is very "We're a Japanese idol band with a metal gimmick". The other couple songs I heard from them are death metal like you mentioned. Not something I'll listen to on the regular but it was fun what I listened to.

Japanese idol band with a metal gimmick. Got real big outside of Japan for a couple years around 2015. They were all over music news sites for a bit cause it's these three young Japanese girls singing cute with a solid backing band. They got a lot of support from big names like Rob Halford and Zombie.

That Babymetal topic made me wonder. What's everyone's opinion of them in the Drunk General?

I've only listened to a handful of their songs and their earlier stuff seemed like fun metal inspired j-pop to listen to on occasion. They seem more like a musical act than a band similar to the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Listened to a couple of songs from their later albums and they seem to have really leaned into the metal elements and away from the j-pop elements. That lead singer has some fucking pipes on her.

Only child. Wife has been raising her two younger sisters and one brother since she was a kid. The brother just turned 13 and has lived with us for two years. The two sisters are 19-21. All of that is the reason we've been on the fence about having kids for a while.

Yeah the tiger drop is a massive game breaker if you can hit it successfully. After learning it in YK1, I spent the rest of the game only using that move.

It is one. Even on Normal difficulty, the bosses just block and block and block. It makes the fights much longer than they should be.

Also some people dislike that Y3's main story doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things. I didn't have that issue. The story was still great and the new location was fun to walk around.

Yeah you're mixing up your street fighter with MK. MK has had a dedicated block button for most/all of its games.

Oh no. She could do it but it would take too much time. She gets some packs of ramen form the local Asian market, tosses the seasoning packs, and makes the base herself. This time it was a chili oil, coconut milk, lemongrass,chicken broth base with onion and bok choy.

Fixed a work ticket I've been dealing with for a couple months so cracked open a bottle of wine. Wife is making homemade ramen. Tonight's gonna be a good night.
