An A+ certification will qualify you for pretty much any entry-level position.

You can start at an entry level position, likely helpdesk. Most corporate helpdesk jobs will train you on what you need to know.

You get better gigs by earning certifications. It would help if you have some basic understanding of technology or at the very least the willingness to learn.

Speaking from experience, I worked 2 years in helpdesk. Even with 2 years of experience, I was unable to find any IT related jobs, outside of other help desk positions, because no one called me back or I would get rejected without an interview. While helpdesk experience is nice, it's not as useful as people might think. A lot of jobs are really looking for that piece of paper.

Seriously tho

Its not 'dying' but it is one of the first things to be offshored since it is relatively low skill and considered a cost center

Eh there is a threshold of skill where anyone in india who is good enough for the job will want to come to the US anyways

But i think the era of coding bootcamp grads getting high paying jobs will come to an end soonish

I was gonna say that same thing. People have been talking about the "impending" outsourcing death of the software development field since the 90's. Not only has that still not happened, but people are still coming to the US for development jobs and some companies that have outsourced in the past are coming back to the US because they found it too much of a hassle to deal with an overseas team.

Granted, I'm speaking specifically of software development since you brought it up. I know OP is talking about IT which encompasses many other types of jobs that are probably at a higher risk of outsourcing.

Not really. IT as a field is massive. It's not just helpdesk. You have sysadmin, information security, data base admin, all the cloud stuff, etc. Yes a lot of the low level stuff is being off shored or automated out of existence but the skilled jobs are still there and will be for a long time. Who do you think are the people automating the lower jobs out of existence? Lol
