lower quality materials like plastic

You're literally saying it's bad because of small amounts of plastic on the ends you'll barely touch when its specs are equal or better than the competition at a cheaper price.

I think you may need to work on that reading.

I have not once called it bad, in fact I have said multiple times it is GOOD for the price point. Just not the best quality available

http://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?&sSearch1=&sSearch2=XZ1+premium&idPhone2=8593&idPhone1=8523

According to this Sony has better CPU, GPU, screen, camera and network.

What does Samsung have, a higher bit rate analog audio jack?

Don't make shit up to defend your choice.

Firstly I am a cheap sod when it comes to phones, my last phone was a Microsoft 520, I now have iPhone SE, purely because I know it will do me a good 4 years.

You however are projecting.

Like I said all along. The XZ Premium is a good phone, specially for the price. There are areas though that both the iPhone x 10 and s8+ and note 8 do better. However quality wise I would say because of the use of lower quality materials like plastic the XZ does come as the best quality out there, that is all.

The Z1 had a metal frame but they decided against it in future, plastic absorbs shock better. They also offered NFC when the competition weren't, had a camera that was only beaten by the now dead lumia thats whole gimmick was the camera. iPhones and many other companies use Sony image sensors. Sony was also first to offer 3.0 quick charging. The XZ premium has a full 4K display destroying the competition while the rest uses HD as above is almost completely redundant and just dick waving and Sony also offers 3D scanning and 960fps slow-motion ahead of the competition. All this and Sonys are futureproofed well and last forever.

Did you actually read my post? Yes it is a good phone, but factually The iPhone X and Samsung phones have a higher spec, have pretty much all the same tech for things like face rec and and mobile/quick charging and use OLED screens to give more screen estate also plastic doesn't really have a place on a "Premium" phone.

It is a good phone, and a really good price point. I just wouldn't call it the highest quality available is all.

Have you had any top-end Xperia phone? they're the highest quality available.

Cannot say I have, Though looking at reviews an spec, it is pretty much the same spec as the iPhone x, Note 8 and Galaxy s8+ though with a lower resolution and LCD screen instead of OLED, also for a "premium" smart phone using plastic? The others go for Aluminium and Glass that has a much nicer look and feel for a premium phone, plastic shouldn't be on a "premium" model.

Looks decent, don't get me wrong and spec for price is pretty good. Wouldn't call it the top quality though.

No. I suspect those components originally existed to help balance the magic-using classes (i.e. reduce their overpoweredness at high levels), but, in my experience, all they do is slow down play and add one more element to track.

The basic spell comps are included in a bag that is deemed to restock. Just certain spells require a more advanced comp, like a 100g gem for Identify. They are the only ones you need to worry about.

Another aspect worth noting about European armour at the time is that middle-ages metallurgy was kind of shit compared to what we know today. Their steel was of awful quality, so it tended to be weak and brittle - much easier to puncture with an arrow than the steel of today.

Actually, initially the Europeans struggled against the Mongols as they were using light armour and cavalry, being the 1200s this was chain, armour not well suited to protecting against arrows.

However when they changed tact and utilised Heavy cavalry the Mongol invasion was pretty much halted. they did not get that far into Europe though remember, they got as far as Poland (Still respectable though!)

Quick question:

You know how the usual defining trait of a berserker is "being really pissed off", and D&D basically treats "berserker" as the defining characteristic of the Barbarian class?

I was thinking the other day about keeping all the rules the same, but changing the flavor of the berserking. Like, instead of a character who is frothing-at-the-mouth burning with raw, screaming rage, having a more "cold", focused fury. Where the warrior isn't screaming and hacking and going full-bore crazypants, but has more of a dead calm, tunnel-vision, inhuman killing machine sort of feel (so if one was after you, they'd look less Tasmanian Devil and more Terminator).

I was trying to think of real-world cultural stuff to see if I could come up with a name to describe that sort of combat trance, but all I could think of was the various takes on rage/berserking (like the "warp spasm" of Celtic stories or the bear/wolf/boar-serkers of the Norse). I was wondering if anyone here might be able to think of something I missed.

I know they kind of thing you mean. Great thing with DnD, if that is the kind of chara your chara is, great. Not all Barbs need to be a frothing at the mouth screamer.

Lightning Bolt posted...
"Phalanx" sounds pretty nifty, and has a sense of settling into a focused battle form. Historically it's been an extremely cooperative thing, though, so hard to pull off alone.

Phalanx is a military manoeuvre rather than a warrior archetype, it also would more imply a more tactical approach to fighting, rather than the more reckless style a barb has.

There is the Spellsword in the Complete Warrior which lets you wear heavier armor faster than the Duskblade will do normally.

There is also the Eldritch Knight if you want get into a prestige class late, which is pretty boring and straightforward, but works.

Also Runesmith if you want to be a Dwarf.

You sure? Duskblade gets light armour from level 1 as it is a base class, If I didn't go there I would be looking at either a mix Mage of some type/Fighter, also as a prestige class It would take time to get there, Eldritch knight I didn't like the look of as it seemed more melee focused with little on the spell side.

Not had a look at Runesmith though, what is that one like

In all honesty, only bad roleplayers need DM's to lie to them/ roll for them

If the only goal is to put on a show for like a podcast then sure. I can pretend I'm having fun so it looks realistic enough.
If you actually like mystery, intrigue, suspense, solving puzzles, or thinking at all, then sometimes it's nice to not have the solution given to you.

Bluff is something I very rarely have the players roll themselves any more, after Father Donnagin. One of my favorite NPCs was a Cleric of good/healing who had a knack for always catching the (evil) PCs with their pants down. He led the investigation of the PCs' first murder and managed to counterbluff them, making it seem like he believed the PCs' lies (or at least left enough doubt that they didn't kill him before he could investigate, and trust me they wanted to). If the player had seen his roll on Bluff, he would have known that the Cleric didn't believe him, and then goodbye suspense!

Hell, even your own story would have been more interesting if the party didn't know ahead of time via public rolls that you were fooling them.
That said, I don't let PCs roll Bluff against PCs anyways. Diplomancers tend to override the party's will when allowed to use CHA skills on allies (so... exactly what happened but all the time).

Not disagreing with you, just saying public rolling to really good roleplayers won't change things up too much, though it does depend.

I agree on the rolling things like Bluff PC vs PC though this was a unique case and I did roleplay the bluff in a believable way, but since she had seen the attack rolls she new ooc that I had initiated combat hence the GM decided to go with a contested bluff roll

In theory, yes that's how it can work, but it's entirely dependent on the group of people who run it

To continually reemphasize my usual accusation that a lot of your perceptions are colored by playing in shitty groups, I've never actually had a 20 minute argument or complaint about how the rules work in any game I've ever played.

If anything, I think I've played with precisely one rules lawyer-y type player out of every group I've ever been in.

Simple rule to remeber about rules in any RPG. The GM is right.

PMarth2002 posted...
The DM doesn't have to tell you the odds. You've got a character sheet and will generally add a number to the die based on how skilled your character is. After you roll the die, the DM will tell you if you succeeded or not.

In some games, and for some rolls (like "Insight", "Sense Motive", "Perception", etc), they won't even give you that much - they'll roll for you where you can't see the number, and then give you information accordingly.

There are some rolls which are WAY too easy to metagame just from the result ("I rolled a 1, I'm totally not going to trust anything the GM tells me!"), where it can actually be way more fun if the GM rolls for you so you have no idea whether you rolled low or high, and if you roll low, they can actively lie to you.

"Yes, while you were initially suspicious of Mr. Sinastrov McEvilface, in retrospect you get the feeling that he's actually quite trustworthy, and is probably telling you the truth about the Definitely Not a Trap Inn, and how you should go there to meet with his contact, Bob Absolutelynotgoingtotryandkillyouson."

Some GMs may do the same thing if a bad guy is using spells like Charm Person or something similar, where rather than having you roll your saving throw (and thus knowing for sure something bad likely just happened if you roll low), they'll just roll for you and then subtly encourage you to like/trust an NPC by how they play them, or just slip you a note so YOU know what happened but the other players don't.

In all honesty, only bad roleplayers need DM's to lie to them/ roll for them. I have been in many a game where people who acted out the outcomes perfectly. Recently in a roll20 game I got "Commanded" by a evil item to kill my friends, being a sneaky bluffing rogue who used bluff in combat, I walked over to the leader, asked him to look at an item I found then back stabed him (I missed, Doh!), he slapped me so I bluffed the party that really the Paladin had gone crazy and was attacking for no reason, the turned on the pala and fun times ensued!

You should be upset with yourself, not the game or it's developers. Show some restraint next time.

In fairness (at least on the xbox store) it was not very clear at all that it was going to be free. I am sure quite a number bought and paid for it without knowing.

(I have not paid for it thankfully, a friend gave me a code)

Because Japan and South Korea could be in danger of missiles or even a atomic bomb nuke if N korea has them.

Japan and South Korea are our aliens and japan also makes Anime and is the country that creates the best games, it takes the whole west to make more good games than japan but no contry alone can match them.

Also China doesn't want to protect North Korea anymore. The only reason to not invade north Korea is because we cannot defeat China in Asia, but since China is tired of them now it is our chancew

The big problem with North Korea is Russia and China. Both are allies with NK and share a border, both do not want a US ally next door.

Now with China thankfully they are quite close with the US and I think they like the financial benefits of world wide trade than the trade they do with NK.

Russia however I am not so sure, and who knows what Putin will do if the US did invade NK.

The North Korea problem is not one so easily solved.

My issue with Fortnite is the fact you are literally paying, for a Closed Beta of a free to play game.....

This is not good business practice AT ALL. Come test our game for us, but you have to give us money to test our game for us! Oh by the way, when we release it, it will be free!

Makes Activision look good to be honest.

(Before anyone says but it is early access not a closed beta, when you load it up in big writing in a big yellow box in the corner is says CLOSED BETA)

So I'm in the military, and a good friend of mine and I are at a new unit. It's pretty lax in comparison to training, and he's been taking advantage of our new supervisors' trust by skipping work nearly every other day. Last week he told me he was scared to answer his door for fear of being charged with going AWOL after missing a mandatory briefing in which there just happened to be no accountability (role call). I realized at this point I could prank him good if i wanted.

I'm not sadistic person, so i havent gotten him yet. Thing is, they recently told us they're gonna start cracking down on all of us if one person skips and they find out, so I need to get him now, before they do, in which case we'll all suffer.

He's a good sport, so he won't overreact at anything extreme.

How can I teach him a lesson?

So get friends who are MP's. Have them turn up for being AWOL and treat him as if he has been found and charged.

Damn that's good. We're new though, and I don't know any yet :/

Ah, that makes it a bit harder. Though any you recon may be up for it?
