First one ever in the ten years I've been driving. 120 bucks. I was driving 54 in a 35. It was kinda in a lame spot since I was driving on the high way which has a speed limit of 55, then it changes to 35 mph for a stretch of like a quarter mile. The cop tagged me then.

Kinda. The town was a little ways away still, and there were just exits to hop on and off the highway.

Don't know if I described that well.

Yeah I got one like that a while back. There was a half-mile stretch on the highway where the speed limit slows by like 30 mph. Spots like that are just perfect for cops to set up speed traps.

There was a car trying to dodge the cops by slipping through the rest area I work at last night. They shot through the parking lot, probably going 90, and then slowed way down at the exit. Then a state trooper came racing in and caught up with them just as they tried speeding off again. I watched for a minute, but it looked like he had everything settled and they weren't trying to get away after he caught up. They likely got a hefty ticket.

Also, they can ticket you and fine you $500 just for parking wrong here.

Well that makes sense. I was going to get points if I just paid the fine so I went to court. The judge at least took the points off and dropped the fine to $100. I was going 54 in a 30 even though I later found out the speed limit was 35. when I mentioned that the judge didn't give a fuck even though in Maryland the difference completely changes the penalties.

120 dollars. Lol that's childs play. Over where I live below 300 dollars for any speeding ticket is unheard of. And one big long stretch of road is a 6 lane highway with a speed limit oscillating between 35 and 45 mph to try and speed trap you. The city actually got in trouble for fucking people over and generating too much revenue off of speeding tickets based on the population of the town

I got a speeding ticket because I was the last person in a string of 4 people driving the same speed down a road near my college campus. When the cop asked me If I knew why he pulled me over, I said, "Because I was the easiest one to pull over?" He just walked back to his car and came back with a ticket. Guy was a dick.

I got out of my last ticket by following the advice of another poster here. Don't remember who it was but they said claiming they are about to shit their pants usually works. I put on a good act, told the officer I was sorry but I was just trying to make it to a restroom before I crapped my pants. He let me go. He was still behind me when the next off ramp came up so I took it. He kept going so I got back on and went about my business.

When I got my ticket, my only option was to mail it in pleading guilty or not guilty. I of course wanted to explain myself and would hope that the judge would let me off or reduce my fine since it was my first time, but I also didn't want to plead not guilty when I very clearly was.

That's common with traffic tickets. There's nothing wrong with pleading "not guilty" in order to request a court appearance, even when you know you're guilty. They won't hold it against you, it's how traffic court is set up.

Most judges and magistrates understand that the defendant is trying to catch a break, and that probably upwards of 90% are as guilty as the day is long. But you won't get a court date without pleading "not guilty"

I've been pulled over for speeding 4 times in rural areas as a younger driver and never gotten a ticket. I feel it's because I was honest and courteous to the police officer. I told them yes I knew I was speeding. How much I was speeding. Why I was speeding (I was in farm land just on my way to work, didn't think it was a big deal to be honest.) And they all told me it's dangerous to speed, let me off with a warning and told me to slow down.

After all of that I've never been pulled over for speeding since.

I was stopped for speeding once going 70 in a 55. The police officer was nice and asked me if I realized how fast I was going. I told him I didn't and had a lot on my mind but that I needed to start paying attention better. He said we all have times like that but that we need to be aware of what we are doing. No ticket for me. Oh and it was on one of those long stretches out in the country. Funny thing is I saw him a couple weeks later and waved at him. Don't know if he remembered me or not.

I know that every cop is different and that every situation is different, but I was very polite, not rude at all.

I remember getting pulled over when I was like 16 or 17 for experience tabs. Like, yeah, they were expired, but it was one of those things that just slipped my mind as a 16 year old. I got a ticket for having the tabs expired, but I've heard so many stories of people getting just a warning for having expired tabs.

But like I said, every situation is different.
