I had signed up the be a library assistant during my study hall period in high school. Which sounds stupidly nerdy, but the real reason was because the library had a small computer room with internet access that assistants were allowed to use when we weren't helping find/put away books. The entire school basically just stopped and everyone sorta went and found their friends and watched the TV for the rest of the day. My friend and I were in the computer room when it happened, and he had an account on here, so we pretty much spent the rest of the school day talking on CE and LUE about what was going on. When I got home that night, I made my own account to keep talking.

And before anybody says it, because I know people will check, I signed up the day of 9/11. For some reason the "member since..." date on this account has changed. Twice. I do not know how. But I noticed at one point that it had changed from the 11th to the 12th, and I have mentioned that in the past on here. And checking just now, I found it has changed yet again to another day later. But I can say with 100% certainty that I made this account on 9/11 because joining the discussion about what was happening was the literal reason for making it. It's kind of a difficult anniversary to forget, y'know?

I presume it has something to do with daylight savings/time zone shenanigans.

It wouldn't have been as effective if he'd done it sooner. This is going to have an effect at the polls specifically because it's fresh. If he'd done this 6 months ago, people would have already forgotten about it or gotten used to it by the time they had to cast their votes.

You don't just need to rally your voterbase. You need to rally them at the right time. If you're running a marathon and you kick too early, you'll burn out before you reach the finish line. Whether you think this timing has been planned or accidental doesn't really matter. The fact that it's happening right now is perfect.

I am still absolutely astounded every time someone reveals that they have their settings on anything OTHER than 50 posts per page. It's just dumbfounding.

After a couple refused to accept for reasons I can't figure out (dalmatians just wouldn't accept, even after literally googling to be sure of the spelling and copy/pasting that), and then one accepted before I even finished typing it, I realized just how shitty that site and the quiz was and stopped wasting my time with it.

I'd always wanted to try it, and when I learned there was a skydiving club called "The Dropouts" at my college I decided to give it a go. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had. And so far it's the only thing I've ever found where people describe it by saying "you just have to experience it yourself to understand" and they're not just bullshitting. I've still never been able to truly put words to it.

I've only ever done the 1 jump, sadly. I really wanted to go through the full licensing course and get certified, but it was fairly expensive and money was a little tight at the time so I had to put it on hold. Never was able to get back to it. Now I'm in my late 30's and although I could afford it at this point, I don't have that same "invincible" feeling as I did when I was younger. And although I would genuinely love to go at least a couple more times, half the fun is having someone with you to share the experience with. Which is understandably harder and harder to find as I get older. Maybe one day...

I fully recommend it to anybody who's even slightly curious. Just make sure you do your due diligence and look into the reputation and history of whatever club or school you're going to use. There's always going to be a few sketchy motherfuckers in every industry, but this one has your life in their hands in a far more literal and immediate way than most, so take your time choosing. But also don't be paralyzed by the possibility of something bad happening. Skydiving with a proper instructor and well respected school/club is incredibly safe specifically because they know how dangerous it can be and they go the extra mile to quintuple-check everything before even getting on the plane.

Basically Destiny 2, but everything turned up to 11. Bigger open areas to explore, more raids, tons of secret quests and collectibles, unlimited inventory/vault space to store everything, and even more crazy exotic weapons and armor.

Except the crucible. That would be stripped back to as barebones as possible, or just removed entirely aside from casual fun game modes like team scorched and mayhem.

Either way, the answer is yes. I'm just curious.

I'm hoping for Bomberman, tbh. Preferably as close as possible to Bomberman 64 in terms of the gameplay. The story mode on its own was a ton of fun back in the day, and I don't feel like I've ever really gotten another Bomberman (or even knockoff) game that quite captured that style again.

And I can't even count the number of hours my friends and I spent staying up all night at sleepovers getting more and more furious with each others' bullshit in versus. XD We went hard on that game.

It's rare, but happens to me occasionally. Maybe like once a week or so, if even that. Ctrl + F5 refresh gets it working 100% of the time.

I mean...the toppings are my favorite part of a pizza. I don't think that's a strange thing. Sometimes I'll eat most of a pizza and I'll want more, but I'm getting full and don't want another full slice. So I'll just pull the toppings off the slice and eat that. It's delicious.

....this "Papa Bowl" is not that. That bowl of greasy slop looks atrocious. Without any dough to soak up some of the grease, it's just stewing in the stuff like the most disgusting soup in history. Nasty.

100% guaranteed, this came about because someone in some meeting said "hey, there's a big market for people who don't eat bread, why don't we just put the toppings in a bowl?" And nobody at any step of the process actually stopped and looked at what they were making.

I genuinely hope he kicks our asses week 1. He deserves it. He got screwed over so fucking hard here. He's easily the best quarterback we've had since returning and we absolutely wasted his talent.

Unfortunately, I think he's going to struggle a lot this year. Panthers need to fix a lot, I just hope they keep him long enough to build up the team around him.

Don't worry, they will. And once Watson gets back, he'll also suck because he hasn't played in 2 years. So he's gonna look like trash for the last 6 games, and then the fanbase will do a 180 like they always do and turn on him. But he's guaranteed all that money so the Browns will just blame Stefanski for trading for him, replace him with yet another head coach and force him to stick with a QB he didn't pick. And after another year of Watson not being very good because they're never on the same page, they'll be safe to pin everything on Watson and dump him. And we'll continue repeating the everlasting cycle of alternately scapegoating the QB and the Head Coach, only to never make any actual progress.

Fucking Haslam should've been driven out of town years ago. We'll suck as long as he owns them.

To be fair, for lots of young people it literally is the worst pain they've ever experienced so far.

Looks like a reflection to me. Like you're actually looking at the surface of a really calm lake on a cloudy day, with a small island hill in the middle being reflected in the water. The plane is flying above the photograph, so we only see its reflection and it appears to be "below" the island.

I always try to take the lane that ends up on the outside of the turn when dealing with large intersections specifically for that reason. People are fucking terrible drivers in general.

Yes, but a lot of the time the person you interview with is not someone you will interact with in your job. So it doesn't even serve that purpose very well.

Dunno, but as there isn't a rash of murders, kidnappings, or blackmails of lottery winners (that I'm aware of), the risk to lotto winners seems to be overblown.

If you win more than $10 million, you have something like a 50/50 chance of being either dead, destitute, or in jail within a few years. The risk to big lottery winners is actually quite huge. The problems just tend to not be so obvious. Families torn apart fighting over who gets how much money, suing each other over their supposed manipulation of the winner. It may not often come to physical attacks, but it certainly happens. And there are lots of other problems that come up because of suddenly having a ton of money to handle.

Depression and suicide are extremely high for lottery winners. And a lot of that comes from people constantly harassing them for donations and favors. Lotto winners should always have the option of anonymity, imo.

The saddest thing about the state of the world right now, in my eyes, is the fact that we have this ridiculously easy access to just about the sum total of human knowledge...and people literally refuse to use it for themselves.

Like it would have taken this guy all of 30 seconds to just go to NYT, or even just Google, and done a quick search to find no links on the website and know the image was fake. But that thought probably never even crossed their mind. It was just "someone claimed something, better go bitch about it on Twitter!"

It's got its problems, but yeah, it's overall a pretty great series.
