Had a customer pay with 2 movie $20 bills before. It wasn't intentional. She was a nanny for a couple and had just gotten paid that night. Turns out the dad works on movie sets and had accidentally mixed up the prop money. She was mortified, but my coworker and I thought it was hilarious. XD Told her she could take the stuff and pay for it next time cause she was a regular in the mornings.

Genuinely expected this to be the first post. It's what I came in to say.

I'd had the dude tagged for quite a while and he repeatedly lived up to the tag. His recent topics continued the trend. I get posters having a gimmick, it can be entertaining at times. But that's a really fucking weird one to take on.

I'll just say I'm not surprised and leave it at that.

If the human body is too hot, it sweats. And it's one of the most effective/efficient cooling systems in the animal kingdom. You can replace the lost water by simply drinking more.

If the human body is too cold, it cuts off blood circulation to the extremities and literally sacrifices pieces of itself to keep the major organs slightly warmer for a very limited time.

Give me heat 10000000% of the time with no exceptions. Being cold is miserable. There's no comparison.

There was one in college that was literally a 5 minute walk from my freshman dorm. My buddies and I ate there constantly. It was so damn good. But I haven't had them in probably 10 years.

Strength = you deal damage by overpowering or forcing your way through their defenses.
Dexterity = you deal damage by hitting weaknesses in their defenses with precision

They both make perfect sense and are not remotely the same thing.

Matt Mercer is probably best known for being the dungeon master for Critical Role (by far the biggest D&D actual play show on the internet). But the dude's list of credits would stretch half way around the goddamn globe. He's an incredible voice acter and he's in everything. Seriously, just go to his IMDB and start scrolling. You've heard his voice before, I guarantee it. And he does seem to be a genuinely great dude as far as I'm aware.

With USB-C becoming the standard, it's not as useful anymore. But I always liked the ability to plug in a USB the right way on the first try every time.

I'll definitely be up watching it live. I just hope we get an exciting race at least once this year.

Fencing requires very little space and the equipment is relatively cheap.

It's not so much that it's cheap, as swords, masks, and scoring systems can be fairly pricey. It's that it's literally designed for sword fighting, so it's super durable and rarely needs replacing. It's a one-time investment.

Baseball, indoor soccer, and bowling as a kid. But those were never affiliated with school. Baseball was your typical youth sports league. Indoor soccer was similar, but we had to drive 45 minutes to the next town because ours didn't have a facility or league. Don't fully remember how I ended up starting that in the first place, but it was really awesome. And bowling leagues are kind of a family tradition. My parents met in a bowling league, and my brother and I have both been bowling competitively in leagues and tournaments for decades.

And then there's the one I always get shit for whenever I mention it. I was a fencer for my high school and competed in the state tournament twice. And everyone always immediately assumes "privileged rich asshole" but I swear it was just a normal public school. We just got really really lucky. There was a student who happened to be born and raised in our town who, on his own time with his family, had been training with aspirations to become an Olympic fencer. He was one of the top ranked youth fencers in the entire country. The kid was an absolutely insanely good fencer. He just happened to attend the same public high school, and his junior year just because he thought it would be fun, he asked the school if they would sponsor a fencing club and he and his parents, who clearly had plenty of experience, offered to coach for free. They also had plenty of spare equipment like swords and masks with his Olympic training connections, so people could try it out before dropping hundreds of dollars on an admittedly expensive school sport. It was so much fun, and getting to watch him basically troll everybody in every match against other schools was wild. XD

Trash-tier game that ruined what was, up to that point, my favorite series of all time. Fucking garbage game that was more interested in chasing shitty CoD trends than improving Halo. Loadouts, reticle bloom, and armor abilities ruined Halo.

At least the single player campaign was good. But we all know you bought Halo for multiplayer, and Reach multiplayer was a drastic and embarrassing downgrade for absolutely no reason. And it straight-up destroyed Halo esports.

The game killed Halo. Bungie didn't even want to make it, and it showed. But they were forced to in order to get their independence from Microsoft (along with ODST). Bungie wanted Halo 3 to be the end of the franchise. But M$ refused to let them stop making their cash cow. So they basically just used it as practice for the game they really wanted to make (Destiny, with more extensive loadout customization and more extensive abilities).

I will never understand why so many people love the game that ruined one of the greatest franchises of all time.

The really sad thing is that Republicans could have easily passed the bill and then spent the rest of the election season bragging about how they had solved the problem. You know, like a normal government should function.

But they're not interested in governing. They're only interested in oppressing. And hate works better for that.

They want to appear macho/strong. But they also want to make sure they themselves are not in danger. Feyd-Rautha was actually excited when he realized one of the Atreides prisoners wasn't drugged, and that it was a test from his father the Baron.

He wasn't trying to destroy the army with the nukes. He used them to blow a hole in the mountain-wall surrounding the city in order to get in with the sand worms.

How come majority of these soldiers seem to not have any of those shields up, and the fremen are tearing through them so easily? The first movie made it very clear you have to attack in a specific fast-but-slow method to pierce those shields; its very clear the fremen are not fighting like this, nor were there any scenes that showed them being trained to fight like this.

Stylistic choice, I guess. I'm pretty sure the Sardaukar were all using shields in the book. Probably would have been one hell of a CG budget to add shields for every soldier during the fight scenes and likely wouldn't have looked very good. So they just ignored them for practical reasons. The point of the shields basically was just to force hand-to-hand combat, and they didn't really need an excuse for that in the movie.

They don't. The spacecrafts are all piloted by Guild Navigators. Since they are so infused with Spice, they will literally die if they lose their supply or are removed from their Spice-infused water tanks. As such, they follow whoever controls the Spice.

Rythmic sounds are what attract the worms. They walk like that on the sand because it obscures the sound of their footsteps, making it sound more like sand being blown by the wind than the footsteps of a creature, so the worms will ignore it. They don't do it all the time because there are many places where the worms can't reach due to rock near the surface or the sand being too shallow.

Since there's lots of places the worms can't reach (the capital Arrikeen being the biggest example, hence the nukes to blow a hole in the mountain to let them in), they wouldn't be much help in a proper full-scale war on the planet.

They didn't miss it, they were lying to the emperor when they told him they didn't know about the activity in the south. They knew about it, they just couldn't do anything because the storms were too extreme for them to get their ornithopters through and they were too arrogant to believe that the Fremen were enough of a threat to be worth the effort.

The Baron had designs on the imperial throne for himself (well, for his son Feyd-Rautha, as his puppet), and the Emperor knew it. His failures on Arrakis were all the excuse the Emperor needed to get rid of him, even if he didn't get the chance to finish it himself before Paul arrived.

I've been bowling for 30 years and I've never gotten to do it naked. That sounds like fun, tbh.

I thought it was fantastic, honestly. They made more diversions from the book than I think I expected going in, but they mostly made sense.

But I will say that the movie really doesn't explain things for you. If you weren't already familiar with the story of Dune, a lot of the movie just wouldn't make any sense. But if you already know the intricacies of the Dune universe and things like "what is the gom jabbar?" and "what is the Spice Agony and how do the Bene Gesserit survive it?" then the movie is amazing.

If you're just talking nudes and/or solo vids, then yeah probably. I'm an exhibitionist, and I used to send a ton of them. I'm sure at least a couple had to have gotten out there onto the wider internet at some point. Never come across one, though.

Yeah, a few of them. First big one was a clan in Warframe that found me right when I started playing. I was so lost and joining random games 'cause I had no idea what to do. One random dude noticed how confused I seemed and started explaining everything. Invited me to his clan because a good portion of the weapons can only be crafted via the clan hall and his clan had almost everything unlocked. I played the game for a little over a year and was one of the top clan members by the time I moved on.

Eventually started playing Destiny 2, and an IRL buddy of mine invited me to his clan. Met some genuinely great friends through that clan and even though a bunch of us have moved on from Destiny, we still have our clan discord server and play other games together all the time.

You don't expect them to send a truck just for your package, do you? If they give you a 10-day estimate, that means they expect it will take about 10 days for them to receive enough packages going in that direction to fill a truck and make it worthwhile.

As long as she didn't say New Vegas, I'm cool with it.

Ugh, I can't believe they missed the most obvious unique thing Dune could bring to the genre. I don't want to build a damn castle for the 1000th time, I want to carve out my own Sietch! The whole building system should be hollowing out caverns under the scattered rock outcroppings of the desert.

You're getting a different product/experience, so you're paying a different price. You're not getting the same experience sitting in the top row of a stadium as you are sitting close enough to talk to the players.

I've cast a pretty wide net, I guess. I think the stadium warehouse and my current data cabling jobs have been my favorite. They're the only two where I haven't hated either my bosses or the customers with a passion. I was pretty damn great in the warehouse and was on track for a management position in the next year, but their contract expired and they got outbid for the next season. The new company only kept like 3 people from the entire staff. I'm still salty about it.

One of them was the owner. Complete asshole who regularly screamed at employees in front of everyone for things everybody knew either weren't the person's fault or weren't wrong in the first place. But nobody had the balls to say or do anything about it. I put up with it for about a year and a half because I wasn't usually the target of his rage, but eventually even I'd had enough and quit. Ran into one of my coworkers randomly a couple months later and learned my leaving had opened the floodgates and nearly half the staff had followed me out the door since. Last I heard the business was barely staying afloat. Serves the prick right.

If I was ever handed a receipt like that, they would get $0 for the tip and the restaurant would lose a customer. Wouldn't bother going to a manager or anything that extreme 'cause there's no point and I'm not actively out for the person's job. And I'm sure any server obnoxious enough to pull that would be bitching loud enough for the rest of the night that the manager would find out anyway.

The fastest way to lose your tip is to act like you're entitled to it. But if you just give me good service and are polite, I'm usually a pretty generous tipper. The system is fucking stupid, but that's not the server's fault. And if a few extra bucks is going to make or break my finances I wouldn't be dining out in the first place.
