Anagram 09/15/17 12:53:02 PM #258 | 49. Mabel http://www.marriotttheatre.com/img/rentals/Pirates%20of%20Penzance/mabel.jpg Origin: Pirates of Penzance Nominator: Raka_Putra (2/5 Remaining) Looks: 59 Personality: 65 Projected Wife Capacity: 70 Overall Score: 64.7 Mabel is the daughter of a modern major general (who has interests animal, vegetable, and mineral) and the love interest of the main character. My favorite part of researching her was learning that Gilbert and Sullivan’s plays got ripped off in America a lot due to weirdly worded copyright laws, so they had the first run of this play be in America to avoid them and thus be copyrighted correctly to make more money. For her Looks ranking, I decided to just use the hottest version of Mabel I could find online, since it’s a play and there’ve been literally hundreds (thousands?) of Mabels. She’s held back a little by the fact that I hate Victorian-era fashion and aesthetics (mostly because I hate steampunk), but I can’t reasonably hold it against her since she was written by people actually from the Victorian era. Speaking of which, is Mabel the only waifu on this list? Anyway, in the end this random actress is still pretty good-looking. For her Personality, Mabel is devoted, kind, and a decent singer (depending on the actress). Works for me! Most of Mabel’s high PWC comes from a single event: her lover realizes that he’s technically indebted to pirates for sixty years and needs to leave, and she’s willing to just wait for him. Now that’s dedication. Overall, Mabel is a little more boring than most of the waifus on this list, but she’s also one of the most capable of being a normal person, so again, everything here works out well. --- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig. Lenalee Lee https://myanimelist.cdn-dena.com/images/characters/5/309562.jpg Origin: D.Gray-man Nominator: cyan1001 (0/5 Remaining) Looks: 65 Personality: 58 Projected Wife Capacity: 70 Overall Score: 64.3 Cyan1001’s last waifu is Lenalee Lee, is a girl whose parents thought it would be funny to give her a silly name… and also an exorcist who doesn’t like being part of the weird exorcism order. We’ve already established my dislike of twintails, and Lenalee was helped quite a bit by a picture of her I could find where she had normal hair. Most of them had silly twintails, I’ll never understand Japan. That said, she’s on the high end of generic anime cuteness, which could probably already tell. Personality-wise, Lenalee is polite, generous, makes good coffee (I hate coffee sadly), and is generally forgiving. All of that sounds okay to me. Unfortunately, she’s also kind of emotionally scarred and internally sad, which does not sound okay to me. What pushes her into the top 50 is her PWC, which, as you can see, is quite high. This is because Lenalee’s Wiki makes repeatedly clear that her whole world is her friends, for whom she’d do anything and is completely devoted. That’s probably bad for you psychologically (I’m no psychologist, that’s just speculation), but it sounds like it’s going to be easy to be compatible with her. Overall, Lena Leelee sounds like a character on a show for four year-olds, but Lenalee Lee sounds like a waifu who will do everything to make a relationship work, including fighting weird Japanese demons. --- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig. Japan is weird sometimes. Looks-wise, it took some effort to find a picture of her looking girly, but since I technically succeeded and since it’s technically a valid picture, she scores points based on it and not her reverse-trap mode. I’ll just be blunt: even by anime standards, those eyes are going too far. Personality-wise, she’s blunt, practical, responsible, and immune to the charms of good-looking guys. That’s a positive attribute because I’m not a good-looking guy. She’s also scared of thunder. Eh, whatever. Thunder is rare in LA. I remember going to Chicago once and hearing it in summer, and saying that’s weird, and everyone was like “Dude thunder in summer is common everywhere except California.” I never bothered confirming whether or not that’s true. PWC-wise, eh, whatever. She’s smart and nice, I’m sure it’ll work out. I just hope she’s willing to not pretend to be a boy while it does. Overall, Haruhi seems like a good potential waifu and a subpar reverse-trap. Even in boy mode she’s still a little androgynous-looking. --- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig. She’s an alien/robot thing created by a superpowerful alien organism thing to spy on a human girl with reality warping powers, and she has for herself weaker reality warping powers. Simple! Looks-wise, Yuki is a little more… childish? I guess… than most of the other waifus, which is weird because she’s about the same age as the other high school-era waifus people nominated. Still judging on her on that, she’s okay. She’s nothing special, though. Like if I didn’t know she was a main character, I could easily believe she’s a background character who has like one like per three episodes. Personality-wise, Yuki is quiet, reserved, and has difficulty processing emotions, which is weird because we meet another Yuki-like being who has no problems with that but eh. You might think this would be a problem for me, but a quiet girl who just likes to read a lot? I see no issues. As for her PWC, which I already sort of went into in the Personality paragraph, she’s great. Who wouldn’t want a waifu with effectively magic powers? I guess Bewitched was about why this is a bad idea, but whatever. Worst case scenario I ask for too much money and get replaced by another actor. Topic | So I watched Seth Macfarlane's new show The Orville (spoilers) |
Anagram 09/11/17 9:19:24 PM #1 | The only thing I've watched of his since like 2010 is Ted and Ted 2, which I hated. It's worth noting that his character on this show uses the exact same voice as Ted, which I assume is just Macfarlane's normal voice. The show was billed as a satire of Star Trek and a comedy, but it's really only like 15% comedy, and the jokes themselves almost all fall flat (and are the exact same kind of jokes you find in Ted, where all humor is derived from professional people acting unprofessionally). The show is actually a mostly straight space opera about a guy captaining a ship with his ex-wife with special effects that are juuuuuuust good enough that they aren't funny by themselves and not good enough to be serious. It's really weird when the show acts seriously because Macfarlane is still acting like a comedy character (his "normal modern guy in a weird situation" persona, like he does in Ted and I know he does in that western movie) surrounded by characters clearly intended for comedy (a racist robot, a Worf rip-off, a perky superhumanly strong girl, two idiot college Chad types, etc). I can't say it fails, but it doesn't quite come together the way I think he wanted it to. Anyone else watch it? --- Not changing this sig until I decide to change this sig. Started: July 6, 2005 |

I wonder how she’s been taking medical tests when doctors give her regular check-ups. Looks-wise, Hitagi is pretty hot. She’s on the very upper scale of generic anime cuteness. The Wiki says she’s supposed to be frail, but I never got that impression. Because there’s not much else I can say about that, I will instead complain about something trivial: anime hair colors. Why does anime constantly portray normal or normal-seeming people with crazy hair colors? The worst about this is Yugi from Yugioh, but it’s in nearly every anime I can think of. Personality-wise, Hitagi proudly calls herself a tsundere. I’ve known multiple people who called themselves things like that, not just tsundere but ‘otaku’ and similar things. Only one of them was cool, the rest were so geeky that even I, a guy who can talk to you about literally every single episode of Star Trek, couldn’t stand them. Anyway, the Wiki says she’s verbally abusive and short-tempered and threatens to stab her boyfriend’s eye with a pen when he’s friendly with another girl, so if anything I’ve overrated her here. PWC-wise, I know it seems strange to give her such a high score, but hear me out. She’s weightless, which means that I’ll be able to take so many pictures of myself lifting her over my head and looking strong and post that **** on Facebook. Overall, HItagi looks like she has serious personality problems, and I’m less than 100% confident that she won’t blow away in a strong wind. We’ve gone over generic anime cuteness before and my distaste for twintails, which I just do not find cute or anything. One thing to do to that is Noire’s extremely complicated clothing. The PS3 is like slick and simple, this chick wears, what, a nineteenth century aristocrat’s dinner jacket with its shoulders cut off? Pass. Personality-wise, Noire is polite and respectful and puts her all into anything she does, but rejects help unless she absolutely needs it, creating problems for herself and everyone around her. Eh, that’s not a dealbreaker to me. She sounds pretty good. PWC-wise, well, she’s a goddess. That’s got to count for something, right? And liking video games and other nerd stuff sounds good to me. She was originally a generic playable character in a spinoff who got a name and a more important role in another spinoff. Cissnei’s looks are rock solid. Normally I prefer straight hair, but wavy hair works on her, and I do like red. She manages a rare “girl with long hair and her ear peeking through the hair” look, and her clothing choice, while unimaginative, works in a professional “I’m more competent than my boyfriend” sort of way. Her personality is also good. She’s quiet, professional, motivated, and looks after everyone else. She feels some guilt about helping Evil Industries, but they do inadvertently sometimes makes other peoples’ lives better, so she works with them anyway. Her PWC could be higher. She has a solid job that’s secure unless crazy amnesiac blond guys with spiky hair attack the company, which is unlikely, but she’s also working for an evil corporation, which, I’ll just say it, does bother me a little. It’s likely to put a small damper on things. Overall, I can imagine something working with Cissnei. The truth is that I could probably overlook her bosses destroying the world.
