That's awful to hear. I've only called adult protective services one time, and it went nowhere. I was reporting suspected abuse of a high school senior, but because they were 18, CPS said they couldn't help, and directed me to adult protective services. Adult protective services they said that they only intervene in cases where it's elder abuse, or the victim has a severe disability. They advised that I call the sheriff, which I did, and the sheriff checked things out, but that amounted to nothing as well.

That being said, I see no downside to calling and, at the very least, seeing if this is something that they may be able to intervene in. I wish you the best with your situation.

A few years of World of Warcraft added up, I'm sure.

This post hit really hard, lmao. Incidentally, my computer crashed randomly today and when I booted it up, Chrome forcibly installed an update I'd been avoiding, thus killing my adblocker. As a result, I immediately made the jump to Firefox and it actually wasn't hard at all despite my misgivings. I imagine there will be some growing pains to figure out, but I've been wanting to make the jump for some time and I can breathe a little easier now that I have.

Anyway, thank you for giving me that push, @K-driver. I refuse to be the equivalent of an Explorer fossil.

I dont feel like I am, but people compliment me on my intelligence frequently enough that maybe I should listen to them. Whats more likely, everyone is just flattering me, or maybe I do have some smarts?

Not a customer per se since I work in a high school, but theres this parent I dealt with who perpetually has a stick up her ass. In special ed eligibility meetings, I like to start by sharing a fun anecdote about the kid so that we arent just talking about what the kid struggles with. For this one student who has Down syndrome, I said As someone whose first language is sarcasm, it was a delight evaluating your daughter. When I told her that shes a good helper, she said Yeah yeah, blah blah blah, and I immediately knew wed get along.

Everyone else in the meeting laughed, while Mom just sat there with this bitter stare and flatly responded, We consider sarcasm to be rude and we are working on extinguishing that behavior, so we would like you not to encourage it.

When I got to Mexico in RDR, something or other put me off the game and I didnt go back to it for a few years. Im glad I did though; it was a great game.

Not sure if this counts as a story-based game, but Super Mario Land took me even longer. I first played it as a second grader but it was too hard for me at the time, and it wasnt until late high school that I finally went back and beat it.
