True, but there's also the dramatic increase in the need for contextual reasoning to prevent permanent gridlock because 2 autonomous cars at an intersection can't "agree" on who has the right of way. If both believe they don't, and both are coded to never ever violate the law, then that intersection is permanently bricked until manual intervention, which in a fully autonomous world may mean asking someone who's never had to actually drive their own car to take control.

I picked Flint Marco because it's such a perfect encapsulation of the character. You get everything you need to know about who he is as a person and his primary motivations from just that one, wordless scene.

Heck, around where I live, the speed limit on the main road is 100, and seeing people go 120, only to get overtaken by going by someone even faster, is a daily occurence. If you went 100 around here (and there wasn't a cop around) you'd probably end up with someone trying to run you off the road.

Exactly. Once they're ubiquitous it will be far less of a problem, but during that in between period where it's a blend of self-driving and regular cars it's going to cause problems.

Hell, for some people with hour long commutes, asking them to go the speed limit the entire time is forcing them to suck up in some cases 30 plus minutes of additional commute, every day. Sure, they could use that time to read a book or browse the web on their phone, but it's a very real cost people are going to have to be comfortable with.

I'm also not saying it's a good thing that people blatantly ignore the rules of the road, but its still how things currently operate in the real world.

The simple reality here is that a self-driving car that 100% follows the rules of the road will piss off an entire generation of drivers, both in the car and around it. It may be legally necessary, but try driving the speed limit and letting literally anyone who wants to merge cut you off and after a week you'll be demanding Tesla put their asshole mode back in.

I always found it weird because Jepson was nearly 30 when it came out but it was written like it was meant to be performed by a Disney channel teen pop star. It's the same kind of cognitive dissonance I get when an old punk bank releases a new album that's still talking about pranking their girlfriend's parents or something.

This is like one of those "I trained an AI on 10,000 internet rumors and had it generate a new one" memes, except even an AI would know better than to generate a release date for Winds of Winter.

Probably not. Square is on a list of companies protected by the Japanese government that can't be bought by foreign companies. Sony is more likely to continue to go after Western studios since those Japanese companies aren't on the table for Microsoft anyway.

Don't get me wrong, I think it's rather amazing that Sony has managed to hold on to the position they have given who they're up against. And devs like Naughty Dog and Insomniac are a cut above anything MS has. But they have got to become more competitive with "services" like GamePass.

FYI in case you didn't see it yet there was a leak about a 3-tier version of PS+ to compete with GamePass.

Sony took the exact opposite approach of Microsoft when it comes to owning developers. Fewer studios, but higher quality titles. I'm not even quite sure which is better, because Microsoft has had some pretty good releases lately.

Sony is like a tenth the size of Microsoft, so it makes sense. Sony itself is only worth like twice the amount of the Activision deal, so they have to be a lot more precise with their purchases. They literally can't afford to buy big publishers.

Don't get me wrong, I actually really like destiny and they are excellent developers.

If Sony is trying to create a new IP to compete with Halo, this might be more about acquiring developer expertise and less acquiring existing IPs.

I'm sure there's a legitimate business reason for them to pick this company, but it feels more motivated by spite than anything else given that all Bungie really has right now is destiny. You would think Sony would be much more interested in securing their major franchises by buying somebody like FROM software.

I'll take it a step further: it should have a map, but it should just be a map. As in, no quest markers, no GPS position for your character's current location... just a literal top-down topographical map of the region. The kind a character might bring with them if they were actually venturing into a new land. See something cool? Orient yourself relative to a landmark on the map and then make your trek from there.

But yeah, it could be one or two years more. Hes spending more time over here with the Squadron 42 team and with our other developers, but itll be this year when he moves over for longer periods of time. I haven't played any of these, but Record of Lodoss War Wonder Labyrinth was a great one I played recently, reminded me of SotN and Bloodstained. Check it out if you see it.

IIRC that just went up on gamepass which is mainly why it isn't on the list, too.

I've got 3 metroidvanias on my steam wishlist that are on sale, but I don't know anything about them other than they popped up as a recommendation at one point and the pictures looked nice. The 3 titles are:

• Minoria - All I saw was "from the creators of Momodora: reverie under the moonlight" and I added it because Momodora was a great game
• Lost Ruins - The art style and boss size also reminded me of Momodora
• Grime - It gave me "uglier 3d version of Blasphemous" vibes

Honestly? It might be pretty hard. Microsoft's bread and butter is cloud storage and server maintenance at scale. Sony may legitimately not have developers with the skill set to build something like a Game pass, nor might they have the spare server capacity to do it without everything running like garbage.

Sony also has traditionally relied on exclusivity by third-party developers, so their contracting and licensing model might make it really hard for them to build up a large enough Initial library compared to Microsoft that can throw up a ton of stuff because they're all first party now.

I second this recommendation. While strive is newer, Rev 2 has an incredibly deep tutorial mode that no other fighting game on the market comes close to matching. It's the best environment for learning the basics.

The souls games have a pretty terrible track record of PC ports, and while I love FROM software I would never buy a PC release of theirs on day one.
