FF7 Remake has all the complexity of the regular FF7 battle system with materia combinations, ATB meters, and an emphasis on buffs/debuffs, but then it actually makes the weapons a significant part of your strategy rather than a straight upgrade like in most other games, adds freedom of movement and positional weaknesses, counters are now more relevant than ever, and having to decide when to save up for an item vs a guard break move vs a damage move vs a summon keeps you on your toes.

Tactics, but once you post that tactics doesn't count I'm going to say FF7 Remake.

I remember you from my original nier topic last year (or maybe the year before). I'm giving it another go. The fact that it now runs flawlessly on my PC means I'm enjoying it a lot more than last time

Hopefully it clicks this time around. At the very least, some familiarity with the first half should streamline gameplay a bit.

JL cartoon rules seemingly required that every super powered individual capable of flight fly directly into every oncoming projectile and get knocked back, no matter what. Doesn't matter what the projectile is or how durable the character on the receiving end is... they will get hit, and they will get knocked back.

IMO it's one of that show's biggest weaknesses.

A month ago Xbox had "no games" but halo. Now they have all the games Activision did + one. Which apparently is all the games. If that's the case, I'd rather Microsoft have all the games than activision.

The character does appear to have an important role in the story though. And it looks like you can choose to fully dedicate yourself to any of the Chaos Gods or remain Undivided. The customization options are all essentially items though, so the best ones may not be the most aesthetically pleasing. But since you have a lot of freedom in what Chaos god you're most aligned with, you can probably work around it so the parts you like are the ones you'll use.

Oh I was confusing daemon prince and chaos gods for a second there. I mistakenly assumed the princes were born from the same process that the gods are.

When you have near universal consensus among all parties involved in the case regardless of political affiliation it might be because the guy has a point and not because they're all "disgusting, dimwitted people just entirely ignore separation of church and state and think our entire nation needs to be bible thumpers."

We will eventually run out of rare earth metals for making computer parts and the return on investment will eventually make it too expensive to harvest them out of landfills, so yes it will eventually stagnate.

The New Republic was just established after the fall of the Empire. Why would they be ok with an organization rising up to overthrow them?

Also Snoke started the First Order which means Palpatine started the First Order. There is a 30 year time gap between the RotJ and TFA. We know that the First Order kidnaps children to bolster their forces. Finn is 23 in the TFA. So that means the First Order has been in around at the very least 20+ years and the New Republic did nothing about them. They literally let them build Starkiller base, you know the planet sized Death Star.

Another thing is that Anakin failed to balance the Force because Palpatine never died.

To be fair, the Empire didn't seem to be able to properly enforce the outer rim either, what with the Huts basically maintaining their own mini empire. A recently fractured government trying to reform itself after the senate had been dissolved and converting back from an empire isn't going to be able to police the entire galaxy if even the Empire couldn't. The biggest unbelievable piece of all this is the First Order having enough funds and raw materials to build Starkiller base in the first place, but the idea that they were able to do so in secret isn't THAT big of a stretch when you factor in Palpatine's influence combined with the New Republic probably spending 10 of those 20 years just trying to figure out how elections will work.

also what's up with news outlets saying activision brands include Tony Hawk Pro Skater. what year is it? yeah they have that remake but it's barely a revival of the franchise. all those dudes are making other games now.

People are saying maybe Microsoft buying Activision means they'll be forced to make their games a bit less trash, but nobody is calling them groundbreaking.

Also, them having Tony Hawk isn't about creating some new next-gen AAA game. It's about putting all the Tony Hawk games on gamepass and increasing the value of their main subscription service. That should have been painfully obvious.

The big risk in all this is game companies will start pursuing F2P monetization models under the assumption that people are just going to get in on gamepass anyway. MMOs already have a subscription so they're somewhat immune to this problem, but I expect some companies to push out grindier games with a bigger emphasis on DLC, cash shops, and battle passes because their main source of revenue will be in-game purchases over box copy sales.

Shamelessly, I did this for the first half of the Witcher 3. I like the game, but early game when random enemies can chunk your health and gold is at an absolute premium, the fact that your health only replenishes when you rest on easy is a big deal.

I don't think enough people realize or appreciate the fact that Microsoft's net worth is literally almost 20 times larger than Sony.

Sony's entire net worth is about twice what Microsoft paid to buy Activision. They don't have the kind of money to throw around on acquisitions like Microsoft does, which is why they seem to have been focusing more on timed exclusivity and smaller deals that they can afford.

The sequel trilogy is better than the prequel trilogy, so yes.

Sony still has a strong exclusive lineup. They'll announce a new GoW and Bloodborne 2 and everyone will forget that the third party market is looking worse and worse for Sony. Even then, though, Nintendo has coasted on their IPs for decades without much multiplatform support, so it's not like it isn't possible.

The nice thing about Game pass is that if it gets too expensive you can always go back to just buying the individual games.
