It is sad, however, that the only way to play the classic old Windows 95,98/XP games is to essentially run a friggin virtual machine that runs the old Windows.

That's one reason I wanna stick with Windows 7. So far, all the modern PC games I want to play can still work with Windows 7.

The person offering the PC said they can reformat it with Windows 11, but I've still got a Windows 7 disc I can use. I've heard a lot of negative things about Windows 11, like apparent spyware, and it not being very user-friendly... Should I make the upgrade, or stick with my old OS?

This. Everything would be totally different. And on the subject of preventing 9/11, this means the US government would know where certain key players like Osama Bin Laden already are and probably make a move as soon as possible. It's possible he and everyone else involved would know anticipate this though, and go on the run to a new hideout as soon as possible, too. And even horrible events on a globally smaller scale, like the Columbine shooting for example, might try to be prevented. We'd have people "brought back" to life who now have memories of the event, as well as loved ones who lost them. There'd probably be some swift vigilante justice against the shooters well before they're even in high school.

It really would be chaos. All of history would end up different. I wonder though, would technology end up progressing more quickly than before? Would Jobs end up trying to create an iPhone in the mid-90s?

This bullshit is EXACTLY what happened with someone I know. He was the oldest sibling out of 5 or so. After he graduated high school, his asshole dad pulled the rest of his younger siblings out of school and started homeschooling them because he didn't want them "brainwashed".

The most impressive thing about it is that he can kill normally unkillable things with it, like Boos, and fucking THWOMPS.

Damage System
By far the biggest change between versions. In the Japanese version, getting hit while powered-up causes the player to shrink to Small Mario just like in the first two SuperMario Bros. games. Apparently this was deemed too hard for overseas players, so it was changed: Anything above Super Mario reverts only to Super Mario when hit, then to Small Mario. While Super Mario World went back to the Japanese system, this revised system became a series standard following New Super Mario Bros., and it was also retained in All-Stars. This change makes the short demo that plays on the title screen that explains the general physics of the game "incorrect" in the international versions as Mario is clearly shown being reduced to Small Mario when being hit by a shell when he is Raccoon Mario, something that, bizarrely enough, was not fixed for either All-Stars or Advance 4.

All my Dark Souls and New Vegas characters have idiotic names. If spending all that time on an old video game is dumb I might as well lean into it and have some fun right?

I was watching a friend of mine play one of the Dark Souls games, and he needed some co-op help for a boss, so he summoned another player. I still remember the sigh he gave when he saw "Biggus Dickus" come to his aid. Together, they stormed the boss, and he actually defeated it with the other player's help. He's still grateful for the help of the unlikely hero Biggus Dickus.

And the seller had pics of the game in a GBA SP, powered on to prove that it's working, and I saw this...

Agreed. There was a lot of interesting, out-of-the-box ideas there. I think Emerald had some of the best ideas. It'd be nice if they brought back the Battle Frontier and more gameplay, but instead we get giant Pokmon.

No, you don't die. If you misspell someone's name 3 times, they become immune to the Death Note.

So if you wanted to use the Death Note to kill yourself, give someone a piece of paper from it and ask them to write your name on it. It might be handy to write in a quick and painless cause of death afterwards, because I imagine dying by heart attack probably isn't pleasant.

And if you want immunity from the Death Note, give someone a piece of paper from it and ask them to write your name 3 times, hoping that your name has something about it that would cause them to get your name wrong, like being "Mat" with one "T", or "Philip" with one "L", or something like Sean/Shaun/Shawn, or Sara/Sarah.

I thought you were gonna mention how the games basically made it canon that the other "versions" and remakes of Pokmon games are actually alternate universes.

A version of Hoenn where Mega Evolution is unknown? Sounds like the original games. And it also sounds like the creators basically put this here to say that all the versions and remakes of the games are canon, they're just AU.

One detail I thought was kinda cool is that using this, Pokmon Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon are connected to Pokmon Emerald. In Pokmon Emerald's Battle Frontier, Anabel is the Frontier Brain of the Battle Tower. She shows up in Sun/Moon/Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon's story having no memory of who she was, except that she came from Hoenn, protected a tower, and was a powerful trainer. She ends up joining the International Police and actually surpassing Looker's position and becoming his boss. I just thought it was neat that this one-off character from Emerald ended up getting an actual part in a main story, while further confirming that the different versions are AUs.

Not really comparable to piracy at all...
