i actually thought it wasn't very cool the first time i saw it, but i also saw it after the hype and cultural impact so my expectations were stupidhigh.

however, i thought it was cooler with each subsequent watch. now i admire how well it was crafted.

I rewatched them all late last year. The first one holds up in a lot of ways but yea the action seems quaint and the soundtrack too imo.

the second movie Ive seen a million times and imo its a huge mess and completely dropped the ball on a lot of the more intriguing aspects of the first. The third is a little better than 2 as a movie but has the unfortunate task of trying to end everything the first two set up and the result is not very satisfying

It's still a great movie.
I think its just that it doesnt seem as deep as it did when I was younger.

The fight scenes are still good, but seem overdone now (although they were pretty groundbreaking then).

Its still a good movie, that said.

I think its the fashion. Trench coats and leather everywhere is the most dated thing about it. Imagine if they were wearing baller ass suits the entire time instead and use rap instead of nu metal. Baller.

I rewatched the original trilogy recently and loved the first, thought the 2nd was worse than I remembered, and thought the 3rd was better than I remembered. Haven't seen 4, but I'm not hearing good things.

That said, the 1st is an all time great movie and didn't feel dated to me.
