Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen for $9 is pretty damn good. Almost tempted to get it despite having it on PS3 already.

Not seeing much else of note with a good sale. I guess River City Girls is never dropping below $21, lol. Seems to only ever go on sale for that (20% off).

Just trying to search through all the games is a chore, though. Right now the only thing I'm really considering is Onechanbara Z2 Chaos for $10. Heard good things...
Also maybe the Pillars of Eternity games, but the sale doesn't seem that great especially for the first game, and I'm not sure which DE, expansion pass, bundle, etc.. is worth it and which overlap w/ each other...

Ok, to clarify: I never personally gave a shit about that chemical. They took it out of the bread once I heard about it, so going forward it wouldn't have mattered anyway, and just b/c it's used in a non-food product doesn't mean it's harmful in food.

I just saw people talking about a Subway bread scandal and thought THAT was the big one they had. Not some feud w/ the Irish over sugar levels. American bread is loaded w/ sugar in general, that's not shocking at all.

I thought the bread scandal w/ Subway was that they were using some chemical found in yoga mats, which they got rid of after it was brought to light...

And yeah, not sure if this study is legit given the full NYT article, makes the whole "scientific process" sound sketchy.
If it is fake tuna, they did a damn good job mimicking the taste and texture. Tuna's pretty fucking cheap and easy to come by compared to other meats they offer, so I don't know why they'd bother to use something else anyway. But then again I've been surprised by the penny wise pound foolish nature of giant corporations before, too (like that GM scandal that got like a dozen people killed b/c they skimped on putting a $1 part in their cars or something).

reading about it, apparently you can extract DNA from cooked meat, but it takes special techniques and there are papers on particular ways that you can go about it. the link you provided says that they can only distinguish between 12 specific different mammals.

so if they can't identify tuna, I would highly expect their test is insufficient and/or the amount of DNA is insufficient. not that the tuna is some unidentifiable substance that is something other than meat.

I don't think it was ever in question that it wasn't some sort of meat. Just possibly some cheaper fish than tuna, and possibly filled w/ cheap additives like taco bell meat is.

I like having my money actually for-sure accessible and know it won't just be drained by some hacker or was never actually there when I go to cash out.

I've also been watching some "old" (in that they happened in the last decade, rather than really recently) WWE matches and angles. It was weird seeing Adam Cole compete because what little I know of him has been as SD's GM. And Drew might be great in the ring, but he just has a crappy visual.

Uh... are you sure you're not confusing Adam Cole (NXT former champ, never been on the main roster thus far) and Adam Pierce (some wrestler from Impact or wherever that they brought in as an authority figure)?

Yup. It's a great side scrolling beat 'em up with a loot system reminiscent of Diablo II. You chain runs through the dungeon areas and the longer you can go, the better the loot and experience rewards get. Can get pretty addictive, and you can play with friends, too.

So no, not gonna convince you to stay when based on all your posts there doesn't seem to be much reason to do so.
This is a rare moment where employers are desperate to get people back working and you see higher wages offered for lots of positions plus way less competition for the jobs. If you're ever going to leave, now is the time.

Quit the job and go full time in job search mode. People often say its best to have another job lined up before you quit (good from a financial standpoint) but this can be near impossible if your current job reels you in from the moment you get up til the moment you get home. I use to get up at 730 shower/eat/drive to work and start at 9. from then id get off at 530 get home by 615. eat/do whatever house stuff there was and by the time i knew it had an hour or two left for me just personal unwinding (TV/Videogames/exercise).

True. When I was mired in the Great Recession, people told me to just get any job I could, even Walmart bottom level employee. And I refused, then I'd be too worn out and have too little free time to look for a job. Held out for at least a decent temp job.
But I was at least getting unemployment at the time.
Having no income at all is rough. Maybe TC can demand to work a lighter schedule, then he has more time and isn't too burned out to look? They shed a lot of employees so maybe he has some bargaining power. If not, then maybe it leads them to firing him over it and he can potentially get unemployment...

b) I could totally see being plausible. There's been mass extinction events in Earth's history and it wouldn't take anything nearly at that level to potentially wipe out a civilization. My entire experience in New Jersey was basically trying to get into a gas station on the left hand side of the road (where you couldn't turn left), and being told I couldn't pump my own gas once I got there.

Those 10 minutes in that state was enough to last me a lifetime. I never intend to go back.

Yeah, the no left turns was fucking horrible. Have to take a stupid fucking righthand detour around in a loop. My co-worker and I were on a work trip there and literally plotting where to go eat and checking which businesses had adjoining parking lots we could drive through just to avoid that shit.

I've been there either on a work trip or driving through a few times. Never had to go to the area near NYC thankfully, I could imagine that being pretty crappy. The western and southern parts of the state at least where it's more scenic / densely populated are actually pretty decent.

But I'm still laughing b/c NJ taxes people like fucking crazy even compared to most blue states (probably only California and Hawaii are worse? and people actually want to live in those states), so even if none of the jokes have merit and Jersey Shore was an elaborate hoax to sully the image of the state, there's still no way in hell it's the best state to live in, especially from the perspective of a company calling itself "WalletHub"

I used AIM from like 2003 up until the day Verizon murdered it.

I loved AIM, it was way better than the "replacements" like FB Messenger or Discord.

I've felt "disconnected" ever since it went away, the online friends I had on it all scattered to different platforms and mostly lost touch with them.

One of the best things about AIM was how little of a resource hog it was (opposite of Skype, for sure!). Numerous times, I had "no internet" with nothing else accessible and yet was still connected on AIM, IM'ing w/ my tech savvy friends on steps to try and repair my connection. If you had even the tiniest bit of a signal, you could connect to AIM.

It was made by the same people. The first season was basically, "what if they got divorced and the husband moved out?" as the premise. It was ok, but the show got way better season 2 onwards when they abandoned that premise and the show got its own identity. Basically became more and more like a "live action cartoon" with surreal plots, frequent 4th wall breaks, and more focus on Jack's talking stuffed bunny alter ego.

I mean looking at how much he spent looks like he went through the entire amount in a few months at most. $1 million dollars after taking the lump sum isn't much if you run out and buy a new car and build a new house then buy a bunch of shit to fill it.

What had initially drawn me to Dark was that it was just wrestling. They didn't even have any promos, although I'm fine with the occasional promo. However, so far this episode they had Matt Hardy meeting with TH2 (which, don't get me wrong, I actually enjoyed) and yet another shitty Jelly Nutella segment (no, Joey, I don't give a shit about "bad boy summer" and the whole "__ summer" meme is played out). And when they did have a promo -- which again, I'm often okay with -- it was this awkward thing with Dante Martin (jfc, put this kid back in wrestling school) where he was reading a script with zero passion or conviction. That and fucking Vicky Guerrero... Her sucking up time while announcing Nyla has gotten so annoying. It's supposed to be a big heel thing, but I imagine most people don't even watch it.

Pre-COVID, AEW Dark was usually 1 hour and hosted by Tony and Dasha (in studio, they'd "kick it to the announce team" to then show the pre-recorded match). There'd be like 3-5 matches total, and there'd be some short interview segments and other stuff (Cody had a segment weekly where he'd talk to a young or up and coming talent about their past and their motivations that was usually pretty good).
I loved those episodes, they breezed by and were entertaining. Reminded me of Sunday Night Heat and other old WWF weekend shows.

But ever since, it's been these insufferable 1.5 - 2.5 hour slogs full of so many matches and I just can't... Even watching at 2x speed, it's just way too much. I'm back at like November for Dark episodes, I want to try to catch them all, but the backlog just keeps growing...
I am mostly up to date on Elevation, just haven't seen this week's yet. But I'm sure that will soon slip, too.

This week's Dynamite was pretty good. Besides the Christian match, Miro match, and Young Bucks match (all good); the Nyla/Leyla match and main event were also good albeit I disagreed w/ the finish for them.

I also noticed that. It was her home camera footage. He didn't make her release it to the public. Her mom is the one that publicly embarrassed her.
And why'd she call the cops? What crime did he commit? It's a jerk thing to do it that way, but he delivered her payment to her.
Mom just looks really bad in this, and I can see it driving him to the edge after all those years.

He also pioneering the mudslinging dirty campaign ads we all know and love. Both he and his opponent used them, except Adams' scandalous charges (like AJ hooking up w/ his wife before her divorce was actually finalized) were mostly true while as Jackson's insults were mostly "alternative facts."

Oh, and he also lied in the campaign claiming his victory at New Orleans gave the U.S. better terms in the peace treaty, even though the battle occurred 2 weeks after the treaty was signed (trans-Atlantic communications pre-Morse Code, y'all).

Or the part where the Cherokee won in the Supreme Court that they have a right to stay, but Jackson genocided them anyway.

Andrew Johnson was one of the worst presidents of all time, but not sure I'd say he was evil. Lincoln stupidly chose an opposition politician as his VP for "unity" when all it really did was say, "hey, if you assassinate me, I set things up for every single policy I worked on to be reversed!"

I didn't know about this and have no desire to seek out the video of it, but I'm just curious how bad this was. Was only his top half visible and he was making funny faces/sounds, or...was everything on display?

Cause...yikes. Either way but especially the latter, I'd NEVER want to work in a highly visible job like that ever again, I'd want to just crawl into obscurity and hope people all forget about me.

Yes, $1M isnt enough to retire on, but its still a million lol. Why would I give up on that just because Im still probably just gonna have to work part time until Im 60 instead of full time until I die?

I feel it just puts you in an awkward spot where you still need to work but now you're the "rich person" that sticks out from the group. I make decent money now in a job I don't hate and a million at least until the bubble bursts, just buying a house would eat up a huge chunk of it.
Meanwhile, health is priceless (or if you live in the U.S. w/ our health care, it does have a price and you hope to never discover what it is) and strict dieting is really tough. If I can avoid all the health pitfalls of a non-perfect diet while getting the optimal nutrients w/ the freedom to eat anything that's tasty or cheap or quick and easy, that's amazing. That's just plain better than money, at least to a certain extent that's way above $1M.

Mo' money, mo' problems

$1M isn't enough to retire with early on and the sudden influx of wealth will just make you a target for beggars and thieves.

Meanwhile, the ability to eat cheap/quick food and/or "delicious but bad for you" food and get the same nutritional benefits / lack of drawbacks as someone starving themselves on expensive and/or unappealing "super foods"? Fuck yeah!
Only real downside is if you have a spouse/kids/family you live with. They still need to eat smart, and that's gonna be tough/awkward if you're trying to maximize the benefits for yourself.

So which of the following do you think is JUDO? and just to make it harder, each of them is something different cause one is karate, one is kung fu, one is taekwondo, one is hapkido and one is jujitsu.

1: Initial thought, Judo or Sambo. Given the options, probably jui-jitsu, maybe judo. Judo was created from jui-jitsu, so using takedowns/throws from each is just being intentionally deceptive.
2: I thought Aikido, but given the options, probably hapkido
3: Initial thought, "Either Taekwondo or pro wrestling, lol" Given 5, then it must be kung fu. Kung Fu has a massive variety in styles so it's tough to see just one move and assume it's that, but none of the other martial arts listed aside from maybe taekwondo have such crazy flashy maneuvers.
4: Most likely one to be judo
5: Initial thought, kickboxing, given the options...taekwondo is the only one that makes sense.
6: Definitely Karate. The body punching and uniform is a dead giveaway (generally only allow kicks to the head, not hand strikes).

EDIT: Also worth noting, Judo has no striking (hence the humor of Austin Power's "Judo Chop!"), so the ones w/ punching and kicking are automatically out. It's entirely based on throws/takedowns and control of momentum in the standing portion and grappling for the ground game. Jui-jitsu still has striking, that's one of the main differences between them. The founder of judo stripped those parts out to focus on the above mentioned aspects.
