If you were Julia what would you honestly do?

Julia Yonkowski from Largo, Florida withdrew $20 from the ATM only to discover she's suddenly a BILLIONAIRE and now she's struggling to RETURN the cash to its "rightful owner"!!

She noticed the massive error after she checked her balance only to find the massive war chest in her chequing account

This would make her the 615th richest person in America although the "honest" Floridian says she's desperate to renounce it as soon as possible

She reached out to her local Chase Bank but so far NOBODY from the organization has returned her calls and she doesn't want to touch the money

She said "Oh my god. i was horrified. I know most people would htink they won the lottery but i was horrified. When i put in for the $20, the machine came back and sid we'll give you the $20 but that'll cause an overdraft and you will be charged and is aid, oh just forget it"

It was only then she realized she saw the 9 figure daily double sum

Julia said "I know i've read stories about people that took the money or took out money, and then they had to repay it and i wouldn't do that anyway because it's not my money. It kind of scares me becasue you know with cyber threats. You know i don't know what to think. But i just can't get through with the bank. I get tied up with their automated system and i can't get a person.".

It's unclear what caused this but Yonkowski hopes the money will be removed as soon as possible just incase someone goes after her for the money...

What would you honestly do if you were Julia?

This is another example of a strange Floridian being strange.

I would try to fix it because there's no way that you're just going to be able to keep that much money. You could write off a small error, but you wouldn't even be able to get away with one that doubles your bank account, let one that's likely at least ten-thousand times larger than what she had.

Is this because she's white? Is this a race thing?

Depositing 1 billion dollars into a stranger's account is the stupidest, though.

Maybe after she done got on national news and all that would it be stupider - But heck, it looks like she already took 10-15k out of it from that receipt up top.

So what you do is, you take like ten or fifteen K first. Something this strange mysterious donor would see as realistic. Once you start taking arrogant amounts, right off the bat, that would be stupid.

But you're g-Wait a minute, VeeVees must be a rich kid or something like that, I'm not doing this one

That's cool/all fine and dandy, but I've had already started a business by then. Basically, what we are dealing with here, is a kind of processing fee for the donor for being such a dumbass. Because this is real life.

Now I have a business, and he has... someone that owes them 15-30k. OH NOES what ever will we do the mafia or some rich guy wow they are so scary

not

Some people are not very bright you know. Even people that work in banking have to pay it back if they make substantial errors, or intentionally move money around and get caught. In this case not only do you have to pay back every cent, the origins of that money could be nefarious too.

You're not entitled to that money and there's not a court in America (or most other countries) that would side with you. You can't invent imaginary fees, you'd be stuck paying back 100% of what you took.

It's basically like trying to bounce a check. It might work for a little while, but it'll blow up eventually.

Sorry but you're not one of those people. Rich people don't (usually) go to prison because they have armies of lawyers. You on the other hand who's a nobody and took money that's not yours is definitely going to prison. That's how life works. The source of the money WILL be found by auditors. There's always a trail for these things. Then you'll have to pay back every cent and if you don't, better hope another pile of money magically drops in your lap so you can afford top lawyers like the actual rich people.

You/y'all, on the other hand, are like mehh he took the money that was in HIS account

and I'm like lol duh who wouldn't have

It's not real money as in the bank will just delete it and whatever she take will reflect on her original balance.

Somebody with common sense. I worked in bank and $10k got misplaced in someone's account once. The auditors were immediately called in and spent hours scouring through everything with programs. It was found before the end of the day but if anybody had taken that money from the account was on they'd have to pay it back. And that's only 10k so I can't imagine the intense scrutiny from that bank over a billion. Whoever's responsible is in big trouble and it would be best to wash your hands of it.
