I never really get this complaint because it acts like people being murdered by police is a particularly common event. Each police interaction is its own thing, and the grand majority of people of all races make it out of police encounters alive. We can say out of police murdering citizens that a disproportionate amount are black and likely links to a racist bias, but this is just being outraged for the sake of being outraged.
TopicWhy do some cisgender people hate the term cisgender?
nemu
02/02/21 5:58:45 PM

Cis is just ugly as a prefix. Generally, it's kind of redundant to use as well. If it's a case where the status of a trans person doesn't matter, then "men/women" would suffice. If the status of a trans person does matter, "men/women and trans men/women" would suffice. I cannot think of a discussion where it's particularly necessary to use to understand context.

There is an issue of dismissing developmental issues like bullying or harassing girls because "that's just what boys do," but it's just one of those things people with no actual argument like to harp on. Though it's quite the dead horse, the Gillette commercial in particular was really stupid because it displayed normal roughhousing as if two children play fighting is inherently bad. Action and consequences depend on the context.

Yeah, man. That's why we should house them first, and then work on their addiction. You literally cannot convince an addict up front to stop. But it's cheaper in the long run to house people with supportive services on site than to let them just kill themselves in the streets.

I'm not saying it's easy, but the solution isn't complicated so much as political. If we funded this stuff through pubic revenue directly, through higher taxes if necessary, that would work best.
I don't think it's really possible to house an active addict who has lost control to the point of homelessness unless they're being forced to detox or have sought help themselves. You're at best creating a situation where they're going to wreck a viable living environment for someone who actually wants the help, or worst case just creating a possible crime scene (other than the existence of the drugs).

In fast food, they require you to cover your tattoos, irregardless of your personality, or your tats in general. (I got none)

They also require you to be clean shaven, but the GMs did not need to do that at all.
Idealistically, this help would come with free classes dealing in resources on obtaining work, workshops to form connections with prospective businesses who can take the time to train these people on the government's dime, etc. Ultimately, such measures cannot have a 100% success rate, but a major push for something like that would definitely be a lot better than the current situation.

Will you hire someone to stay with them 24/7 to make sure the keep up on their meds? There are definitely people out there who can likely bounce back if they're given the help we're currently not giving them, but there are those who will not respond to that help. We can do much better than we're currently doing in terms of the number of shelters, resources for addiction, resources for mental health, and resources for housing, education, and jobs, but there are lost causes out there.

While we can definitely do a much better job providing assistance to the homeless, there will always be a chunk that can truly not be helped, whether due to mental illness, substance abuse, violence, or whatever else. Unless you want to forcibly round them up and force them into institutions, they'll sadly always exist.

If someone asks you if you like men or women sexually, you have a preference for one over the other. It doesn't matter if you have a 0% chance of being interested. It's still a preference. That some people use the word "preference" in a snide, derisive way against gay people doesn't change that. You're being overly pedantic for the purpose of seeming virtuous.

Do people actually watch these 5-10 hour videos start to end? I dont get why people make one behemoth of a video instead of just spreading it out into more easily consumable 20 minute chunks. While someone can simply just watch pieces of a large video at a time, youre going to have a much better time with viewer retention by having them come back daily rather than hope that they eventually finish the video.

Once the cop was in that specific situation, you can't really blame him, but there should be better systems in place so the cop isn't in that situation. Why is a single officer responding? Why don't they come equipped with something for restraining someone who is mentally ill but otherwise unarmed? It's fine to be prepared for the worst in case it's someone who wants to go suicide by cop, but otherwise they should be equipped and prepared to restrain someone who is going to physically resist and lacks the mental capacity to respond to commands.

It's slightly hypocritical going by that Enclave thing, but I think the difference is one is a single action of evil while the Enclave is full mustache twirling evil in which you'd need to write dozens of evil missions.
