The other worry is that Biden wins by a ton but because he takes mail-in voting by a huge margin the "day of" numbers will appear close and trump will cry foul as the counted numbers continue to get worse for trump and better for biden.

But even if the rules don't work that way, then we should just assume that the dog was taken away from her and given to a shelter due to her abuse by throwing it at someone else. And then he came along and adopted the same dog from the shelter.

That is the vibe I get.

The correct answer is "Yes, that is a good thing, and we I support fixing that problem for those people. Also, in addition to that, we should go a step further and address a similar problem for these other people."

But it needs to be noted that you are still completely blind to the fact that wealth carries over from one generation to the next. And no, not everybody is born with a silver spoon in their mouth, but even your typical "middle class family" with their regular ass spoons will still typically see some amount of carryover from one generation to another. Just the fact that my parents are not in debt and both own their own house means that I can expect to see a modest gain of wealth when they pass away even after you factor in estate taxes.

Meanwhile their is an entire group of people who were not allowed to own land or amass wealth for a significant amount of time and you can see that very tangible way it has affected the ability of their community to compete on this not-equal-playing field.

Which is why it worked and (imo) was not done in an offensive way.

It's also why I didn't think the dark elf "blackface" in the D&D episode of community was offensive, but they had characters in the show acknowledging the negativity of it.

Like when there is an episode of a sit com that demonstrates how terrible drunk driving is and downright demonizes it, I wouldn't expect there to be a backlash from people saying "That show HAD drunk driving it it, therefor they are supporting the existence of drunk driving".

But outside of those two cases (Tropic Thunder and the D&D Community episode) I am hard pressed to think of any other examples of non offensive blackface usage.

#DevinWontDebate is trending on twitter which is promising. Devin Nunes has been in congress for 20~ years and has a history of not holding public forums or debating with his political opponents. He's simply coasting on living in a republican bubble in Central California and I really hope this is the end of it for him. I'm so excited to live in his district so I get to vote against Devin Nunes. I'll be dropping off my vote against him in the next week or so. I'm still researching some of the California Props before I make all my decisions final.

I think there are situations where voting anonymously might be good.

Saying "Yeah I was one of the votes that killed X, and he was definitely an impostor" but not being able to *prove* it can add an interesting dynamic.

Takes a while for it to click, but once it does the whole thing works.

They introduce some mechanics that they never really go back to, so I wasn't crazy about that, but there was still a nice progression between explaining "how things work" and then making things more complicated so it was still a good time trying to keep up with the added complexity.

I can get behind this. I legitimately enjoy Titan AE. I also saw it in theaters to a relatively small crowd.

The only other one i've seen is The Spirits Within when it was new and I wasn't crazy about it at the time, but I've been meaning to give it another shot.

Lincoln didn't win because of the electoral college boundary lines. He had the most votes of any candidate and that (correctly) translated to the most electoral votes.

Douglas - 29.5%
Breckinridge - 18.1%
Bell - 12.6%

Lincoln won by over 10% of the popular vote compared to the next closest candidate. Lincoln had the MOST votes of any candidate that year.

Do you see how providing full information is more accurate than saying "Lincoln won with 39%" as a response to a hypothetical situation where trump receives 10 million LESS votes than an opponent. Because I know you didn't say it, but your implication there is that his opponent received MORE than 39% when in reality your example bears no resemblance to the situation we've posited.

There was a 3 million vote differential in 2016 and it's not unreasonable to think the vote differential will be even higher this year regardless of who wins, and that's a scary thought.

Firebat retired from Competitive Hearthstone.

That isn't to say he wont continue to stream Hearthstone as a source of income.

And it was not accompanied with any kind of statement that indicated he retired "doesn't like competitive hearthstone because it is not a skill based game" as UltimaterializerX seemed to indicate.

In fact it was nearly the opposite with Firebat making comments to the effect of him not putting in enough time to continue to compete at the highest levels after he was relegated from Grandmasters.

I don't even see how this IS disrespectful.

He isn't saying that he hopes Trump's status is worse than is currently being alleged. He is saying that he is hoping Trump's response was different.

And so if Trump were going to portray himself in the larger than life way that he likes to do, it's conceivable he would have upsold how awful COVID is to make himself seem stronger for having overcome* it.

*This assumes trump has in fact completely recovered from COVID in less than a week.

That's about as dumb as arguing that republicans have budged 1.7 trillion from their 300 billion skinny proposal and the democrats only 1.2 trillion lower.

Timeline:

March 27th: CARES Act is passed
April: CARES Act rolls out, a majority have their stimulus by mid-may, though there are exceptions.
May: House (democrats) pass HEROES Act (3.4 trillion)
May: Republicans propose nothing.
June: Republicans propose nothing.
Most of July: Republicans propose nothing.
July 27th: Republicans propose HEALS act (1 trillion)
August 18th: Republicans propose a reduced package of 500 billion.
Late August: Democrats indicate willingness to reduce to 2.2 trillion.
September: Republicans indicate willingness to increase to 1.6 trillion.

Please explain to me how the senate and white house are negotiating in good faith. The skinny proposal was after a larger proposal.
Just so they can say "look, we're willing to go from 0.5T to 1.6T (which I believe is the current offer) to make it seem like they are budging a lot, which it's actually not very far from their actual original position.

But the real bottom line is that MORE help is needed than the republicans are offering. When Disney has to lay-off nearly 30,000 employees, and other large companies are on the verge of insolvency (with more to follow) the fact is that it would be better to provide MORE help than the republicans feel is necessary rather than provide LESS help than the democrats feel is the bare minimum.

Yeah, a damn shame that the democrats budged nearly a trillion dollars from their original proposal. The proposal they passed in MAY. But the senate/whitehouse has basically not moved at all.

Meanwhile I'm bombarded by calls all day from people asking when they are getting their second stimulus and I have to explain that the second stimulus doesn't exist yet and the IRS wont have any information to provide on it until it exists. People who are struggling and who's help has run out. I've heard more people crying in the past 4 months of working from home than I would care to. I think I preferred it when people yelled at me because their tax refund was 3 weeks late.
