I'm aware. Like I said, 3.X/PF is the worst edition for caster balance. If you want better balance, you're better off playing another edition of D&D or a different game or sticking to lower levels.

Or maybe some of us like that casters and noncasters are distinct and don't feel so similar like in later editions? The rules can be tweaked to be more fair, but no one is willing to do so, or in Paizo's case, they're too incompetent to do so.

Touch AC is just AC minus your armor, shield and deflection bonus, so that doesn't really make sense. The other stuff is fine, but only really addresses some combat issues, it doesn't really address the way spell-casters can break the game by simply using spells to bypass a lot of encounters or obstacles.

Actually deflection applies to touch AC.
Armor, shield, and natural armor do not. Most monsters have crap Dexterity, no deflection bonus, and obscene amounts of natural armor. So they'll have something like AC 30, but Touch AC 8. So...I reduce the natural armor and add buffs via templates or whatever to improve stuff that affects touch AC, and improve Dex scores in general. End result is slightly lower total AC and much higher Touch AC.

And yeah, some spells do need nerfs or even need to be banned. But not that many. And a lot of the "encounter-breaker" stuff is way more DM-dependent than online posters let on. Like most of the divination magic is heavily limited to how the DM interprets what answers it provides the caster. When it's left up to my interpretation whether a spell is very useful or not very useful, guess which way I'll always lean?
Other campaign-breakers have built-in hard counters that just don't get used enough. I'm quite a fan of the Anticipate Teleportation spell line, that causes those teleporting into the area (such as to perform "scry and die"...if the scry part even works out to begin with) to get frozen there for a few rounds, complete sitting ducks for those already there to attack. I do houserule it to only apply when teleporting in from a long distance away b/c otherwise it shuts down short-range "tactical teleportation" stuff that's not problematic (and buff it a bit to compensate :) ).

Incredibly stupid and he'd destroy our economy doing so.

But as usual w/ his China policy....his aims are understandable, the problem is he's a fucking moron and doesn't know how to enact those ideas.

Here's a simple one that would hurt China and help Americans: Levy a high tax/tariff on property/real estate purchases by foreign entities (or specifically China, but making it apply to all doesn't draw their immediate ire despite having basically the same effect).
Chinese buy up a shit ton of property in the U.S., both as a foothold to get their kids here so they can get into American universities, and as a form of "banking", since they don't trust their own currency or property markets (with good reason), so they see it as a safe was to store and preserve their wealth.
That in turn jacks up prices sky high, especially along the coastal cities, making homes unaffordable to actual U.S. citizens.

But Trump's both too dumb to consider that, and too corrupt to ever do it, since that'd deflate the real estate bubble his own business prospects rely on.

That doesn't really have anything to do with this topic though.

I mean, the problem is that on nearly every level/aspect, the rules are basically stacked against noncasters. Once you recognize this though, you can as a DM work around it. I managed to run a campaign to level 20 with nearly all sources allowed and the noncasters never felt useless or inferior. It'd be nice if someone implemented such changes in the rules themselves instead of leaving it to the DM to figure it out, though.

Like, a lot of monsters only have melee attacks and far too many have "spike damage" (retaliatory stuff if you hit them in melee) or "aura of death" around them (like Iron Golem's free action 5 ft radius poison gas) and have sky-high AC but pathetic touch AC and saves.
So...I revamped them to have more ranged attack options, more touch AC but less total AC, higher saves, far more creatures w/ spell resistance, etc....

Another example: travel is biased against non-casters since you normally only have 1-2 encounters any given day. So I stack all of them over the course of the entire trip into a single day (the rest go by uneventfully), so the casters can't just go crazy w/ unleashing their most powerful spells.

Also reduced the costs to upgrade weapons and gear, and generally allowed them to find and buy what they needed (seems like most DMs hate the idea of "Magic Mart", and don't realize casters can replicate magic item effects w/ spells or just craft themselves, so their stance just harms the noncasters).

And so on...

In the D&D 3rd edition rules, it says that you should add together all of the character's ability bonuses and penalties before applying racial or other such modifiers, and if the total comes out to +0 or less, the stat rolls are considered too low and the player is entitled to reroll all of them again.

Notably Pathfinder removed this rule, one of many sinister and subtle ways they nerfed the non-casters (who rely on having more ability scores with bonuses than casters, who often can get by w/ just one high stat and a decent Constitution) that were glazed over by the sheep claiming PF was somehow "more balanced" than 3E.

I ended up hate-watching a good chunk of the first season. Didn't like nearly all of the characters, even the ones that I'm pretty sure you're supposed to sympathize with, because they were either too dumb to live or hypocritical preachy bastards or both.
In particular I remember the odd feminist messaging and how the purge night is supposedly especially dangerous for women....when the movies and tv show are like 90% men getting horribly maimed and killed.

Completely forgot there even was a season 2.

Saw the first episode of Treadstone. It was a strange convoluted mess that kept jumping around to different characters and locations (and time periods) and just had no interest in watching more of it.

It's a shame what happened to USA Network. A decade ago they were like the best tv channel and had a bunch of decent scripted programming. Especially when Burn Notice was running, loved that show.

In all Warriors games, morale is actually super important. Not only does it make fights easier/harder for you, but it massively affects how off-screen fighting is handled between NPC allies and enemies.
While there's a squad/unit/regional morale and an overall army morale, the latter at least used to be represented by a bar on screen so you could have a rough idea of how well your allies would be faring.
I hate that they removed that from the user interface in later games, it was actually super helpful to see.

You do at least get visual indication when units are extremely high morale in HW (the yellow vertical "heat" lines) and supposedly low morale also shows as some sort of sheen though I can never notice it myself. Still of no use for stuff away from where you currently are. Sometimes 4 captains are in the allied base and I don't notice for a solid minute and it's barely been damaged (cause I guess they're low morale). Other times i see one dude wander in, figure I have time to deal w/ it a bit later and then suddenly 30 seconds later the base is in danger of falling, and when I arrive I see the high morale. No clue till I actually lay eyes on the enemies if they're buffed or not.

A problem I have with Hyrule Warriors and similar non-Dynasty games is that your AI allies can't do ANYTHING.

I understand that the player has to be the driving force... but when you are controlling a massive army it's incredibly asinine that you are the ONLY force.

In older DW and SW games, there were fewer enemies and getting 1000 KOs was a rare and special achievement. There were only a few unique characters among the enemy officers and they were individually much harder (on the flip side, you could take 5 or 10 min to defeat them if needed, there wasn't a ton of shit avalanching on your head if you didn't defeat everything blazing fast).

As the consoles have gotten powerful enough to put many foes on screen at once and rosters have expanded such that every army has tons of unique officers, that has changed a lot. I do kind of prefer the older style, though the ideal would be something in between.

I will say though, as I've been pumping hundreds of hours into Hyrule Warriors DE lately... allies have actually contributed a bit. Much more than I recall on Wii U. It's actually gotten kind of annoying, where I take off 2/3 of an enemy character's health, then have to run off to save my HQ or get rid of Manhandla stalks or something, and before I can go back to finish what I started, some scrub ally finishes off the enemy captain and then I don't get the xp or drops. It's happened A LOT...
I've noticed that if I don't interact with and deplete the named enemies, my allies are worthless speed bumps that drop like flies w/o harming him/her at all. But if I put a decent dent in, suddenly they're really competent while I'm on the other side of the map.

Even as badly as SYG laws are written, it was always going to be a tough sell that he felt the need to defend himself from an unarmed dude walking away from him that he then shot in the back.

So yeah, there's at least some very low standard in place. The law was still fuzzy enough to lead him to think he could get away with doing it and left the victim dead, so it's not much of a silver lining.

Well yeah, that's basically the situation that SYG creates, allowing one to instigate a violent situation and then kill the other person instead of backing down.
If the jogger had wrested the gun from them and shot them dead, he could reasonably claim that he felt threatened and in fear for his life.

It's so weird in these situations how only the initial agressor w/ the gun is thought to have a right to defend himself w/o backing down. While as the Trayvon Martins and Ahmaud Arberys don't also have that right somehow, even though they're the ones who really should be fearing for their lives.

The core of the gameplay and open world design in BotW is from Xenoblade, since Monolith soft helped make it.

Sounds like the police should've found some stolen items on the body when they investigated the scene, then. Yet I've not seen any mention of them finding anything suspect on the victim. Hmm....

This is the sort of incident that absolutely deserves the death penalty. The person that does something like this over being told they need to wear a mask is irredeemable garbage and does not deserve a second chance. Get rid of them. The entire family that was involved. When the father and son are found, don't arrest them. Just gun them down. There's video footage of them doing it, there's no doubt that it was them. No need for a trial.

Cases like this where they're so clearly evil and the evidence is obvious, not only should there be the death penalty, but the process should be expedited, no 10+ years of appeals. That makes sense when there's some sort of doubt or if the death penalty may have been too harsh. This case is neither of those things. These fuckers, Dylan Roof, that Cruz guy that shot up the high school a few years ago.... All of them could be shot tomorrow and it'd be just fine.

The VA is already govt ran healthcare and it's crap.

My grandfather was in a private managed care institution for a few years, and it was horrible. Complete mismanagement, overdosing of pills, people who seemed fine one day dead the next... And it was costing $120K per year to stay there. Then we found out as a WW2 vet, he could go to the state's veteran's home. He'd have to pay 80% of his social security income (ie, not much money) but otherwise it was free and his life savings would no longer be getting torched. Much cleaner and better facility, the people there were nicer, too. He loved it there.

One of my co-workers is a reservist, and he loves his VA care and how cheap everything is. Never has had a problem with it.

I've known several other people who've used VA services, and all of them loved it, too. Just b/c there's some bad examples across the entire nation doesn't mean VA is bad, and there's tons of horror stories with private care to match any from the VA.

I spend probably $100-$125 a week on groceries, for the two of us.
We also almost never eat out / get take out. The people who somehow get by on $300 per month for a family of 4 w/ groceries, I don't know how they do it, unless it's b/c they're getting restaurant / fast food a few times a week on top of that.
