Oh, the logistics of holding an election under quarantine are fine. That's completely doable. The issue is that managing and recovering from this pandemic is going to be a complicated process at pretty much every level of government, and changing presidents in the midst of it all could make it even more so. As you say, though, the election's 7 months out (almost 9 for the actual change of administration), by which point everything should be at least on the road to recovery. Disrupting the government at that point should be alright.
I don't see the harm in passing a bill to fund mass mail in ballots and prepare for that, just in case things aren't better by then. If it's not needed...just don't spend the bulk of the money set aside for the operation.... I know not spending money is hard for a politician, but still.
Even if it is better, people may be afraid to be in lines near people and want to mail in anyway, so to avoid much lower turn out, having the apparatus in place would be smart.

And while changing administrations makes it tougher to deal w/ a crisis...Trump's handling it so poorly that I honestly think it'd make no difference during the transition, then get much better soon after.

Originally it was full state amount + $600.
Then I saw something about half the state amount + $600 (not sure if that was credible, and it honestly makes no sense to do it that way)

I don't know why the topic ended up being about California specifically.

But well before this crisis, and it will remain true long after it....
It has been pretty obvious that the coastal CA cities' housing prices are wildly unsustainable, and trying to design a social safety net or minimum wage around what it costs to live in those places is just not even remotely feasible.
CA government should be...and should have been....implementing drastic measures to try and curb the insane real estate costs. The most obvious would be banning or HEAVILY taxing property ownership by international buyers, since Chinese using the Pacific coastal cities as a way to store their money is a significant contributor to the rising prices.
Florida I know has a homestead law where the costs go up massively for anything beyond your home of residence. Add that in, too!
Mandate that some housing units cannot be rented out and must be residences for the owners.
Fund more apartments and affordable housing.

Just...fucking shoot a bazooka of stuff at the problem. Cause it is a major problem, that will eventually cripple the state and ravage those cities. Housing should be prioritizing for people to live in. Not as an investment.

Honestly, as much as the situation would be handled better by pretty much anyone but Trump, I think there might actually be a case to be made for postponing the election to avoid the turmoil of changing administrations mid-emergency. I don't think it's necessarily the most valid case, given that the current administration is just kind of twiddling their thumbs and changing that up won't impair much of anything, but it could nonetheless be made.
No FUCK THAT

There's 7 whole months until election day and they can throw around trillions of dollars for mega corporations in just a few days.

That's exactly what I did. Its better to not have taxes taken out of unemployment and pay it later come April because if youre getting a refund youll likely just see a smaller refund. Logically if youre living off of unemployment you need that money immediately.

On top of that, in California and some other States, unemployment is not taxed by the State but it IS taxed Federally so its going to be a reduced amount that I just dont know the approximate percentage for.
Oh, I see. You were pointing out how the comparison between $15/hr wage work and this crazy UI bill is even more stacked in favor of the UI than a simple dollar to dollar comparison.

$15 per hour is $600 gross but with approximately 25% of it taken out for taxes youre literally only making around $450 per week, which is only $50-ish extra per week and $200 extra per month over the current minimum wage.

Also maximum unemployment benefits in California is $450 per week, paid every 2 weeks. And the maximum food stamps is $194 per month for 1 person, or approximately $48.50 per week if you want to use the weekly amount in any of your calculations. Food stamps go up at a seemingly arbitrary interval for each additional member in the household.
Wait, why are you only taking taxes out of one item in the comparison and not the other?
Thought w/ UI, at least in my experience, you can opt to not have taxes deducted and just pay it at tax time the next year, while as with a wage job...you generally can't do that.

Even the much-vaunted $15/hr minimum wage that liberal groups rally for is only $600 a week for a 40 hour work week.
The proposed UI boost would be (if the base $400/week is what CA gets currently) 167% what a $15/hour minimum wage would earn.

And if you aren't working at all, once again there is SNAP on top of that. Even if it's not much more, it's in addition to that still and probably pushes the unemployed person to nearly double the income of the employed person.

When I was on unemployment 10 years ago, I was getting $220 a week, and it was at least as high a cost of living area as Virginia.
It plus food stamps was enough to survive.... No healthcare, though. I could see kicking in like $100 or $200 more for that and make sure people have enough for rent. Plus $600 per week is crazy, though.

And it's not treating others like humans...plenty of low paying jobs are still going on, and those people are still making the same wages while risking getting infected. It's picking winners and losers based on what field you happened to be working in when this hit.

https://thehill.com/homenews/senate/489525-last-minute-complaints-threaten-2t-senate-coronavirus-emergency-aid

The unemployment provision includes four months of bolstered unemployment benefits, including increasing the maximum unemployment benefit by $600.
But the GOP senators say that the agreement, which they are calling a "drafting error," could prompt individuals who would make less working to leave their jobs, or not actively return to working.
"Unless this bill is fixed, there is a strong incentive for employees to be laid off instead of going to work. ... We must sadly oppose the fast-tracking of this bill until this text is addressed, or the Department of Labor issues regulatory guidance that no American would earn more by not working than by working," Graham, Sasse and Scott, of South Carolina, said in a joint statement.
The back-and-forth comes as senators are scrambling to learn the details of the mammoth package.

Graham said they learned the details of the deal during a 92-minute conference call Senate Republicans had on Wednesday morning. They are asking for a vote on an amendment that would cap unemployment benefits at 100 percent of a person's salary.

Their demand sparked immediate bipartisan pushback.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) tweeted: Let's not over-complicate this. Several Republican Senators are holding up the bipartisan Coronavirus emergency bill because they think the bill is too good for laid off Americans.

A Senate GOP aide pushed back against the four senators, underscoring the divisions within the caucus, saying that "nothing in this bill incentivizes businesses to lay off employees, in fact its just the opposite."
"Each state has a different UI program, so the drafters opted for a temporary across-the-board UI boost of $600, which can deliver needed aid in a timely manner rather than burning time to create a different administrative regime for each state. Its also important to remember that nobody who voluntarily leaves an available job is eligible for UI," the aide added.

Like...I'm actually with the Republicans on this one. That's fucking nuts! It's $600 per week in addition to the normal UI amounts, which are frankly enough to live on (I know from experience, having been unemployed....) So depending on state, that's like $800 - $1300 per week in unemployment! That's more money than a lot of jobs that people aren't being laid off from, like at the grocery store or Amazon warehouse, etc... are getting paid. The last bit from the unidentified "Senate GOP aide" that's arguing against them sounds cruel if anything...basically taunting people who have "essential" jobs that they have to keep working while making less money than people sitting at home.

The other parts regarding unemployment insurance -- extending how long someone can draw from it and allowing usually excluded groups like self-employed and independent contractors to make unemployment claims -- are great. Exactly what was needed. Keep that stuff.

But the "bleh, math is hard, fuck it, just give them an extra $600 per week, that should do it" part is fucking nuts and a slap in the face to many working people.

https://www.espn.com/olympics/story/_/id/28946033/tokyo-olympics-officially-postponed-2021

What felt like the last major sporting event untouched by the current strain of the coronavirus -- known formally as COVID-19 -- the 2020 Olympics served as a glimmer of hope for the entire globe. But on Tuesday, Japan Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach agreed to postpone the Tokyo 2020 Olympics by about one year.
The opening ceremony had been planned for July 24.
Despite the postponement, the Summer Olympics -- when they eventually happen -- will still be called the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. The Olympic flame will also remain stored and displayed in Fukushima.
"[T]he IOC president and the Prime Minister of Japan have concluded that the Games ... must be rescheduled to a date beyond 2020 but not later than summer 2021, to safeguard the health of the athletes, everybody involved in the Olympic Games and the international community," said a joint statement by the Tokyo 2020 organizing committee and the IOC.

Understandable, but wow....first time it's ever been moved/canceled for a reason other than a world war. Trump could be the first president in decades to never go to an Olympics event while in office.
(I've long maintained that the Winter Olympics are not "real Olympics" and are just a novelty to shove some ice or snow gimmick into every event. Don't @ me)

Steal is either completely useless or the only way to get certain very useful items, the latter of which is an annoying mechanic because it means building your party to include stealing if you don't want to miss out on them. There's very little middle ground.
Pretty much.

It's always pretty dumb how you can steal stuff from an enemy, but they often/never will drop said item if you just kill them. It's like the item only exists if you steal it; it was never there if you don't.

The closest to a middle ground is something like FF Tactics, where it still has the weird Schrdinger's Bounty issue (unlikely/can't get the items off the corpse), but at least you're stealing their weapons/armor and they lose the use of said items once you swipe them, giving you an advantage in the fight.
(Of course, then you get into the logical query of "why don't they carry back up weapons?")

The virus wasn't treated seriously for over a month in China, spread to a ton of people, and a lot of people died in a short amount of time (way more than the number China's been providing). The virus burned through the population and was over quickly, at tremendous cost in lives. That's not the ideal to aspire to. Also worth noting that unlike here, once China did take it seriously, they truly SHUT DOWN for over a month.

The U.S. can't enforce as extreme a shut down as China, and is hoping to not have a massive spike in cases at any one point, which keeps the health care system from being overwhelmed, in return for stretching out the period of infection. So it will probably drag out here longer than it did in China.
And that's assuming it doesn't just come back in a 2nd wave or something.

Leftists using a pandemic to bash trump is what's actually disgusting. The way dems and lefties seem to be celebrating this is incredibly disturbing but also not surprising given they've shown the world they will politicize any tragedy and have even publicly wished for them because orange man bad
Trump asking states not to report jobless claims b/c it'll hurt the stock market, and constantly being concerned over how the pandemic is affecting stocks more than he is about containing it (such as trying to limit the amount of testing so it wouldn't sound as widespread) is what is politicizing it.
Pointing out that he's politicizing it is not.

Try to keep up.

Also not a leftist or a Dem, but facts don't matter to you, so this is all going to fall on deaf ears.

The day Trump was inaugurated the Dow closed at 19,827. March 20, 2020 it closed at 19,173.98.
So worth the trillion dollar deficit each year in order to give the rich massive tax cuts! Look at that stock market growth! Clearly it was worth it to condemn our kids and grandkids to eating canned dog food in order to survive.

Dude's literally pinned his entire presidency on the stock market. Not even just the economy in general, but specifically the stock market. It was bad enough when he was publicly pressuring the Federal Reserve to lower rates just to keep this sham of an "economic boom" from unraveling, but now...
The way he's repeatedly approached this pandemic from a goal of "what can I do to minimize damage to the stock market?" as his first priority is truly sickening and vile.

The Zero Escape (999, Virtue's Last Reward, Zero Time Dilemma) series sort of counts...
Considering the main plot event in the background is a terrorist releasing a disease that wipes out billions of people, and trying to stop that.

But that's in the background as far as what you're actually doing in the games.

I don't think any member of Congress, the President/VP, nor Supreme Court justices should be allowed to own stocks, beyond maybe index funds that cover a wide range of companies.

Makes it too ripe for abuse and insider trading.

Finding it really tough to feel bad for an 18 year old who makes $2000 a night normally now "only" making $300.

Also lmfao at them expecting to make money if they refuse to let patrons touch them.
You'd think being in very close proximity (ie, in order for it to be a "lap dance" at all), breathing the same airborne particles, would be far more of a risk than some dude touching their T&A

Stripper: Ok, you can touch me, but not the face
Customer: Was never planning to touch above the neck anyway...
