Oh, the logistics of holding an election under quarantine are fine. That's completely doable. The issue is that managing and recovering from this pandemic is going to be a complicated process at pretty much every level of government, and changing presidents in the midst of it all could make it even more so. As you say, though, the election's 7 months out (almost 9 for the actual change of administration), by which point everything should be at least on the road to recovery. Disrupting the government at that point should be alright.

Honestly, as much as the situation would be handled better by pretty much anyone but Trump, I think there might actually be a case to be made for postponing the election to avoid the turmoil of changing administrations mid-emergency. I don't think it's necessarily the most valid case, given that the current administration is just kind of twiddling their thumbs and changing that up won't impair much of anything, but it could nonetheless be made.

That's exactly what I did. Its better to not have taxes taken out of unemployment and pay it later come April because if youre getting a refund youll likely just see a smaller refund. Logically if youre living off of unemployment you need that money immediately.

On top of that, in California and some other States, unemployment is not taxed by the State but it IS taxed Federally so its going to be a reduced amount that I just dont know the approximate percentage for.

Why make a system where people are forced to additionally apply for food stamps? The 2 programs should be linked by default.

$15 per hour is $600 gross but with approximately 25% of it taken out for taxes youre literally only making around $450 per week, which is only $50-ish extra per week and $200 extra per month over the current minimum wage.

Also maximum unemployment benefits in California is $450 per week, paid every 2 weeks. And the maximum food stamps is $194 per month for 1 person, or approximately $48.50 per week if you want to use the weekly amount in any of your calculations. Food stamps go up at a seemingly arbitrary interval for each additional member in the household.

When I got out of the army I went to ODU in Norfolk for 4 years and 220 a week would barley cover my bills. And thats from living sonewh4 blocks from campus and paying 650 a month.

The unemployment upper limit in Virginia is less than 400 dollars a week. Not enough to live on.
