Now, the bold is obviously a typo, but I legit can't tell if the typo is that there's a missing "s" between "a" and "k" or if "m" is supposed to be a "n"

Never ever let someone on the religious right try and lecture to you about morality again or complain about a Democratic politician's supposed moral failings.
If s/he tries, shout him or her down and call him/her a hypocrite. Their views on the matter are invalid. Repeatedly remind them they voted for Trump. They have no right to fucking complain about moral failings ever again. They sold that right away in exchange for getting a Supreme Court that will outlaw abortion, excusing every single one of Trump's endless moral failings in order to get there.

I'm happy you understand.
Yes. A low possibility.
Everything in life carries risk. Obviously this more than some other things. But stop acting like this was the probable outcome.

Yeah he definitely didn't expect retaliation.
I said at the cost of his life. You seem to think any retaliation at all = killing
Most theives don't want a murder charge. Much as they don't want to go to prison at all, a robbery charge is way better than a murder charge. Sure, you could die. But you're making it sound like it's highly likely. It's not. Victim was just really unlucky in this case.

Anyway....once again, for me personally, diving into their car would be beyond my risk boundary.

It's common sense. Granted it wasn't my property that was stolen but we were told to NEVER purse a thief when working in retail and the same applies here. The cop isn't wrong. Your life can't be replaced materialistic things can be in most cases.
You're told not to pursue a thief in retail b/c the store doesn't want to be liable for any injuries or worse you sustain or inadvertently cause to others. The merchandise stolen is for sure going to be less costly to replace and is probably insured anyway.

And I really doubt the victim ran off planning to stop the thieves at the cost of his life. He got thrown from the car and landed in the worst way possible. They were thieves, not murderers. He didn't think they'd try to kill him over it (nor did they try to, though if felony murder* is on the table, it'd actually be a fair use of it here, IMO)

* https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Felony_murder_rule
The rule of felony murder is a legal doctrine in some common law jurisdictions that broadens the crime of murder: when an offender kills (regardless of intent to kill) in the commission of a dangerous or enumerated crime (called a felony in some jurisdictions), the offender, and also the offender's accomplices or co-conspirators, may be found guilty of murder.

honestly soda is disgusting. people are gonna look back at it like they do smoking in the future.
I loved soda as a kid. I also had a ton of cavities. Easily over a dozen by the time I was like 14. Around that time, I decided to quit soda.
Mind you, I still drank and continue to drink sugar-loaded iced teas and fruit juices. And I've always had a big sweet tooth. Eat chocolate pretty much every day in some form, ice cream most days, etc...
Also have pretty terrible dental habits. Brush once a day only, never floss, never use mouth wash...

And yet...since I stopped drinking soda, I've never had a new cavity. Never. It's almost surreal.... It was an instant change from the moment I quit, and has stayed that way. Merely ditching soda had such an immediate and seismic change on my dental health.

TL;DR: Yeah, soda is fucking nasty

All the victim blaming by the witnesses and even police is rather unsettling.

As for the question, generally yes but with some limits. Diving into a car trying to speed off would be further than I'm willing to go, especially if it has a license plate I can see and then report to police. But if what was on the laptop was important enough to the victim, then I won't judge him for taking that risk.

It doesn't matter if they killed it or not.

A wild animal that has tasted human blood is super dangerous.
A mountain lion is super dangerous, period. It's their habitat. If a human ventures into it, s/he would do well to be very careful and keep a distance.

Could take it gradually.
Definitely ditch soda, but maybe switch to iced tea and fruit juices. Still have a lot of sugar, but it's better than soda. If you can, eventually transition more into sparkling water.
One thing I've been trying to do is "sandwich" my sugary drink consumption. If I want to have a glass of apple juice, I have to down a glass of water first, and then after the juice the next glass is also water.

Drinks seem to be by far the biggest culprit of added sugars, any time I compare the nutrition labels. Like, even candy bar servings seem to be way less than them. If you can ditch soda, drink only a little of other sugary drinks each day, and enjoy candy/desert in moderation, you'd probably be fine.

The worst parts IMO are that the volunteer fire fighters aren't getting paid unemployment b/c they're too busy fighting the fires to do the weekly job searches mandated by the PM's party and the part where another politician from the PM's party joked about two people who died that based on where they lived "probably voted Green" (another party)
