i got access to 2 same time i got access to 3, and after getting to the hub, i was just... meh'd out. so i went to 3 and didn't stop until i'd fully beaten it, DLC and all (I still have never actually beaten dark souls 1 despite doing like 5 playthroughs past the halfway point)

3's intro segment was a lot better imo. gundyr was a hella first boss for someone like me who's lower than average skill at souls games

if its the same premium deal as jp, it gives you priority access to blocks (normal users can't enter a block once it's past like 90% full or something), 30 days of my room and my shop access (good for first month, but once you get going you'll be able to keep them up as long as you want without much effort), access to better drinks that can give better effects (largest atk or HP boosts for main effect usually best, and the secondary effect can include rare drop rate or exp up), more fun points, max of 40 CO's accepted at once instead of 20 (probably one of the biggest effects of premium), pso2 day bonuses (once a month, but i forget what they are), player to player trading, and more login stamps

if its that battle pass shit i have no clue cuz thats new to na

as for if premium was worth it, first month absolutely if you know you'll be playing a lot (but buy 50 inventory slots and maybe another mag first, they're still more important). afterwards, I'd get it if i was feeling super in the mood for pso2. sometimes you just wanna log in for one urgent quest a day; premium is nice there but might not be worth the investment.

premium used to be god tier before we got multi block matching and people would camp out certain high population blocks a full hour before an urgent quest, but that's not an issue anymore and block access is just icing

i'm really annoyed that PSO2 doesn't have universally accessible ships like PSO did but oh well

it is pretty unfortunate; the eng community on jp servers was small enough to where all of us could fit on ship 2, and we all tried to come back to ship 2 for eng, and.... it's not going well. unfortunately it's just a matter of difference of characters being saved locally vs mmo server systems. pso was a lot more friendly about playing with everyone, but it was also incredibly easy to hack

they're almost always accountbound, so you can slap em into storage. the most common example of these rewards are All Skill Tree Reset Passes; they actually gave out one to every character right as PC launched, so xbox users got one on all their characters

not ALL rewards are character-based, but quite a few are. skill reset passes are handed out every time they tweak any skills whatsoever, because every character could use it. I have like 100 of them sitting around unused in jp lmao

nope! you can mass send stuff to storage from mid-mission so it's doable but it's still super obnoxious

lock all the gear you want to keep then mass select everything in the weapons and units tab and send them to storage. i think it's via holding down shift on pc? i have it bound to holding down r2 on controller

Cool, thanks Ages, I have been feeding my mag monomates and it boosts both melee damage and defense. I'll try and find something that just boosts damage then.only gone up like 2 points so far so no biggie.

alternate between feeding them monomates and melee weapons, they cancel each other out but give melee power in the end

slightly faster way is just feeding them specific furniture rarities that gives melee power

Far as I've been able to tell, there's basically no reason to do anything with a Mag other than get it up to 200 in your ideal offensive stat

you can also install skills onto them, like 10-15s of invulnerability whenever you get full PB, or healing via certain triggers. eventually you can increase the number of skill slots to like 10, too

and you can change their photon blast; by far the best two are ketos proi (pp regen field for you and nearby allies; also recharges REALLY fast) and julius nifta (persistent suction effect for grouping up enemy mobs)

Also, there's no way to get more mags without either buying a microtransaction or the one you get for free with a new character, so if you've screwed it up too badly, it may be worth looking into how to fix that now, before it gets worse (my impression is that it's easy to adjust a few levels here and there, but not to make major changes).

you won't be able to fix it right away because it requires excubes, just gotta keep from screwing it up any further and fix it bit by bit when it's level 200. used to cost 50 excubes per point, now it's like 5 or something. definitely a high priority to spend extra excubes on

(excubes are gotten primarily through trading in 10*-11* weapons in at the recycle shop. most urgent quests drop maybe 10-20 on XH and a couple more on UH, with some specific urgent quests dropping metric tons of em. more recent urgent quests have just been cutting out the middleman and dropping excubes directly)

also yeah I missed that original message but do NOT raise any defenses on your mag like at all. defenses in this game are negligible. healing (usually) scales to your max HP, and max HP does a way better job of making you not die than defenses do. it's such a big trap due to how damage formulas work in this game that i'm honestly not sure why it's there as an option to begin with, other than to make you mess up your mag and encourage you to spend more money

I really like the katana though, so I may have to main braver and sub hunter. It's gonna be a hard choice tbh. I really like the whip for general killing, but the katana looks like it's gonna be much better vs bosses, and well it just looks so cool. I have not gotten to try the bow yet (didn't wanna spend the cash to buy it, they are expensive) so I'm gonna try and find the trainer guys you mentioned.

katana br/hu is probably the most solid class combo in the entire game in terms of damage, survivability, and ease of play, yeah. high single target damage, respectable brainless aoe, no conditional modifiers but still two stances, a gigantic number of safety nets...

bow is technically designed to be better for boss killing (and it used to be utterly broken for boss killing if set up properly; I remember a video early on of someone oneshotting XH Loser with it), but most people agree it feels less good in general, and only use it during the active ability, if at all, before switching back to katana

fyi you can find multi-class weapons out there that will allow you to play with hunter weapons while playing braver/hunter. it's definitely suboptimal but if you're outgearing the content or find that weapon performs better in that situation anyways, go for it. this goes for all weapon types; there's some all-class jet boots that allow every class out there to cast shifta and deband too! (jet boots automatically cast support spells after certain PAs)

So I JUST found out about skill points and also you can change your class at will, so you can level up any class you want, you don't have to use multiple characters!!! That is soo freaking awesome.

ya, plus you get bonus stats for every class at 75 so there is a valid reason to level everything. you should still have alt characters made for when they hand out freebies to all characters, and you can use alt characters to have three characters with three mags to play all classes efficiently completely f2p, but i only had a fraction of my time spent on alts vs my main

oh yeah one other thing that may not be obvious at first: you can save class/subclass presets at the class change counter, and it preserves your equips, PA palettes, subpalette selection, etc to make it so you can swap classes more quickly

there's also a way to change via a chat command anywhere on the ship but i don't remember what it was

I know thats probably optimal but I want max i-frames on dodge and the 22% reversal healing. I'll make a more optimized skill tree set eventually but I really enjoy getting slapped and gaining HP for it. Especially nice with how often I'm going for just guards.

just make sure you don't give up any percentile damage modifiers for it, give up massive hunter or fury critical or something

it actually can't be overstated just how important getting the full 1.45x damage modifier from the hunter tree is and you can easily do it while remaining super duper safe

also you shouldn't really need to dodge very often when you have counter because it's straight up better and easier

both were used, along with writing haisha in kanji and presumably reading it loser. it DEFINITELY should be "Loser" for the fight itself at least. calling him "Dark Falz Luther" is a straight spoiler instead of probably-a-spoiler and I don't know why they did that, considering part of the coolness of the fight is the game telling you he's a loser, him acting arrogant throughout the fight claiming omniscience, before finally losing

I know your attack ends up pretty high but I think when I was playing some of the classes needed that extra couple points to hit the equip threshold of the strongest weapons. I could be misremembering though. Maybe it was to hit a specific threshold without a mag or something. I don't remember. Was probably 7 years ago.

maybe equipping a super high rarity weapon a few levels earlier or something but race will never ever actually lock you out of something at level cap

I was playing on my hunter btw, who i'm liking a bit more. I also found the practice quests lol (totally missed them before). Still seems like I can get random people in my quests even though I set a password and say friends and whatever the second one only is.

you restricted joining to just your party, not the whole room (MPA). you can put a password on the whole room but there's no real need to, i'm a big loner too but there's zero downside or expectations involved with just running into people. more people = more monsters and bosses spawn = more kills and loot for barely any more effort

I'm up to 15 now and startin to get back into the swing of things. Got the awesome katana art that shoots you forward like 50 feet so I can do that into the AoE one over and over and for boss damage I have the rising and the falling vertical slash arts that can be chained together super fast for lots of damage. I want to get that skill ring that heals me on perfect guard since I do that a lot to get focus.

once PA customization comes in, the bossing combo is cherry blossom finale type 0 -> lunar flourishing. as for right now, it's nocturnal blossom -> lunar flourishing (get the third normal attack off every now and then to regain pp; it has better damage than the first two hits). eviscerating bloom is situationally amazing (it can hit a large target with up to 5 hitboxes). also, flash of the lotus spam by itself is extremely good damage, and it's very fast movement if you can make it to the enemy in one skill use

one thing to keep in mind tho is that counter damage is ABSURD. if you get to a situation where you can chain counter over and over, it's literally more than 3x the damage of anything else you can do. it also puts you very slightly in the air so you can drop down with lunar flourishing. you get sick iframes out of it too so fish for counters as much as you can

I can't remember if I can even do that and have perfect stats. I'm also hoping the racial/gender stats won't fuck me out of a top tier weapon since I know sometimes the margins for equipping them are pretty small.

Race/gender are actually literally not worth worrying over at all. Your attack is in the thousands at level cap and race/gender is like single digit differences usually. Go for whatever aesthetics you want, but know that female stuff will be a lot more expensive, because the number of female player characters is WAY higher than male. And fashion from the gacha is gender (and usually cast-or-not) locked.

Skills are independent from a unit's stats. While stats DO change what they initially evolve into (and thus which photon blast you get), you can change these later on fairly easily. The invincibility one is pretty good, I always used it.

For dex mag raising, photon art skill discs is the easiest method, they only raise dex. Dex mags aren't quite as niche of an idea as they used to be since phantom class will be coming within the year and either as main or subclass converts dex to all attack types. It's a pretty universal good subclass too.

One thing I don't understand is the ranger vs hunter mechanic. The ranger seems to do more damage (from what I saw) AND can do it at range (so you don't need to get to the enemy), while also being able to dodge enemy attacks WAY easier.

Rangers actually have pretty terrible mobility in the midst of battle. The skills you want to spam leave you wide open.

Meanwhile, sword hunter's #1 DPS skill (which was just added with the PC update... it's called blaze parry or something) requires you to basically parry an attack with strict timing for massive damage potential, and they also gain free just guard frames at the start of every single PA with something from their skill tree. Hunters NEVER have to cease attacking when a fight is predictable enough, and when it isn't? Omnidirectional guard is another thing in their skill tree.

Also, automate halfline is almost a cheat. Get tanky enough to not get oneshot and you have an incredible safety net. Even if you do get oneshot, Iron Will has a very good chance to save you. And even if you DO die in a multiplayer setting.... people will trip over each other to revive you, cuz free fun points.

Edit: also, most bosses don't particularly care about distance, cuz they use attacks that hit certain segments of the arena.

it's a lot more comfortable when you get a bunch of nice pets to drop before you actually play the class, because pets don't have any requirements to use, even super high rarity pets

Techters are meant to be more support-oriented, so they are going to be a bit on the weaker side.

This probably isn't as true as you'd think. They're clunkier, but every class in pso2 is capable of outputting high damage because everyone is a different flavor of DPS class. Techer's mobbing abilities become absurd as soon as you get access to zondeel and wand explosion, which shouldn't take very long. Whenever simple compounds get added, Re Zandia will amplify this with basically ranged persistent zondeel that does damage.

They're slightly weaker than forces at boss killing via techs solo and with standard builds they don't have access to the full elemental spectrum, but they're far tankier and imo having access to melee dash over the standard float dodge is a gigantic benefit. They're the most suited for zanverse duty, too, cuz longer range.

The issue is that in the current state of the game, all techs are weak because we don't have tech customization available yet. It's nice to customize PAs, but it's downright vital to customize techs. Some techs simply aren't viable without customization (because the type-0 customization will change their properties entirely sometimes). Also, as a short term newb problem, techs also suck when they are very low level as they are now for everyone.

This is coming from someone who's been maining techer for about two years now and plans to main force in NA >_>

cannon is crazy aoe capability, sucks at bossing

rifle is opposite, and it can apply a status effect to specific parts of an enemy (Weak Bullet) that multiply damage done. used to be so OP, people would just quit a matchmaking party if it didn't have a ranger because the modifier was something dumb like 3x damage. it's less OP now but still always desired

my best friend i duo'd most of the game with was a ranger main, never really picking up another class over thousands of hours of playtime

Yeah, the entire game is like 50-60gb in JP... 10~GB is way too small lmao. In JP we usually kept a reasonably updated archive of the files torrented so people could download the vast majority of it that way, but microsoft is not a fan of user friendliness.

Yeah, I'm buying a SSD specifically so I can upgrade my OS from 7 to 10 (so I don't have to format my full hard drives) for this shit. It's obnoxious. Been complaining about the possibility of this for months because I knew it'd be like this.

The game was released like two years into windows 7's lifespan and they never touch the engine of the game anymore, there's actually zero reason to require windows 10 outside of microsoft being microsoft. And surprise, there's a shitton of reports that downloads from the windows store are just randomly breaking and leaving a ghost 60gb inside system files you have to go manually digging for.

I tried a bunch and Mildred eventually kicked her ass while i played super safe.

On the note of gargoyles, I found that their difficulty was directly tied with how fast I could kill the first one. The fight was a joke if I had good enough weapons to kill the first before the second could do much to me but an absolute nightmare if I slacked.
