When my father died three years ago, I thought I would have to deal with the estate tax. My grandfather had always griped about its existence and I figured since my dad had inherited his money, that it was inevitable. But no. My dad had money -- about 3 million, in fact -- and my share of it is now sitting accruing interest as a retirement fund, but the feds never took a penny. Even with the estate split in three directions, and a larger chunk going to his wife than the two kids, prior to whatever the coronavirus ends up doing to the market, I had believed I could have even lived off the interest as it was...and that's a tenth of what the estate tax exempts. Ten million ain't even close to a hardship for all but the most spoiled of brats.

Umineko seems interesting, judging by the soundtrack.

I love the sound design in world of spirit. 2:10 is so cool with that high glassy synth and whatever the drums are doing, it creates this neat sense of space and its like youre flying through the rain or clouds or a waterfall or something.

For what it's worth, when I count the votes, I like to be able to do so quickly simply by glancing at the first letter of each song a person voted for. I tab between the forums and the spreadsheet, thinking "hb, STD. GBA, WSD. sceptile, STF."

That's a lot harder to do when people format their responses differently or hide them in spoiler tags.

Then I guess you and I have different interpretations of what it means to take someone out of poverty. Buying someone dinner will take away their hunger for a time. Buying them a week of groceries will do so for even longer. But it doesn't remove the need for them to provide for themselves.

More like it has an objective answer and the answer is no.

Just because everyone starts with the same amount of money doesn't mean that they'll spend it in "equal" fashions. Within a year half the population would be virtually broke again, and the money will have filtered into a select few. In other words, it would be just like it is now.

I will agree that battlegrounds is very volatile. I'll be playing, thinking I'm doing okay, with a meh comp that has somehow stayed in first place with ~30 health, and then I will literally get one-shot by someone with a board full of 5- and 6-star minions on turn 11 or 12 and go out in 6th place. That's happened to me three times this week, and it's only Tuesday.

Dragon's Dogma > Shovel Knight: I've flipped back and forth on this one for weeks now, trying to explain my faith in DD, when I figured out the analogue for this match: Borderlands vs. Bloodstained. One is a big-budget 2012 game that's been mostly forgotten about but has a dedicated fanbase that still plays it today. The other is a more recent, good playrate indie that invokes 90s gaming nostalgia. After the first few days of the contest, some got IndieFEAR and thought Bloodstained could pull the upset, but Borderlands never looked threatened after the first hour or so. And yes, Dragon's Dogma is on Switch.

The problem with this comparison is that Borderlands 2 >> Dragon's Dogma, and Bloodstained << Shovel Knight.

Like, if the match was Borderlands vs Shovel Knight, maybe I'd have a moment of pause.

Anyone who wants to, I'll send Shadow the CSV file but anyone else can look at it also, if they PM me their e-mail address.

I've always wondered how one computes eliminations. It's a math puzzle I've never really been able to figure out. At least not from an efficiency perspective. Obviously brute force is a thing.

But it sounds like the main method is simply to say if, between two brackets, (remaining points difference) - (point differential) > 0, then an elimination has occurred. No idea how that computes joint eliminations, though. Those can only happen when someone has a null spot in their bracket, right?
