Runescape 2 had a pretty good system. You drop 3 of your most expensive items, then you have a few minutes to dash back to the point of death and get your shit. After a short while, your dropped items show up to any and all players as well - so you have to get there before your items get looted AND before they despawn forever.

Hey, it's all good - not to slander any and all adoptive parents, but the foster/adoption system has had repeat offenders and serial predators using the services provided.

Earlier this year I made a topic about Devonte Hart, the kid who was photographed by his adoptive mothers hugging a police officer in Ferguson during the BLM protests with a pained, afraid look on his face. They sold that picture as "racial harmony", as a young Black child valuing the efforts of the police to keep him safe. Those parents had five or more adopted children who they would drive out to demonstrations like that, and they would make them hand water out to the police and pose for pro-police photographs.

These kids slept in two rooms. There was one single bed, two loveseats that weren't suited for sleeping on, and a mat on the floor. At least four children slept with inadequate bedding every night.

They were malnourished and often were given the bare minimum of food to eat. Their mothers would often spring on alcohol, and even bought a flatscreen TV that cost thousands of dollars using benefit money for the kids.

Devonte Hart and his siblings are believed to be dead - a majority of his family has been identified. While on holiday, the parents loaded their kids into their car, sped down the highway and drove into the ocean. The squalid living conditions of the children were only discovered in the wake of this event.

The parents who adopted and mistreated these children had a prior conviction to their name - they had abused children in 2008 while fostering them. They were still allowed to adopt five black children after this occurrence, to which they exploited and malnourished before murdering them all.

Not every adoptive parent is going to be a selfish opportunist, but the adoption and foster system does have these predators who adopt or foster children to abuse or traffic them.

Sometimes kids are bullied outside of the teacher's view, and teachers can't act on it because the victim feels too intimidated to speak out. In this case, a girl was clearly being ganged up on by a group of other kids - not one bully, a whole fucking group - within their vision. And the response was to A) initially do nothing, and B) pick her up by the ankle and carry her upside down out of that scenario.

They neglected her when she was in trouble, and then they "saved" her in the least dignified way possible. It's shit like this that set kids up for failure and plants the seeds that lead to dysfunction.

My main beef with this whole shit show is this: before he died, did you know about Alec Holowka? Or did you only start martyring him after his death because of the controversial figure attached to the circumstances?

I find it hard to believe that these critics actually give a shit about the man, or his grieving family. Because - as I've stated several times in topics like these - Alec Holowka's sister released a statement asking people not to attack anyone. The exact quote from his sister:

And in case its not already fucking obvious, Alec *specifically said* he wished the best for Zo and everyone else, so dont use our grief as an excuse to harass people.

But no, it's about exposing the real monster. It's about punishing wrongdoing, and getting justice for a slain man who lost himself to his demons through the machinations of some evil she-bitch. It's another excuse to go through this Gamergate horse shit again, to chase down the same person as last time for some morally righteous cause. It's not about the dead man - it's about blacklisting Zoe Quinn, again.

People have gone out of their way to poke holes in this one particular story, when a multitude of people - including Alec's family, and his co-workers at Infinite Fall - have alluded to multiple people having gone through abuse at Alec's hand. And funnily enough, those same people who were close to him also acknowledge that he was a deeply troubled person with a lot of potential, who even with his faults will be missed. When just about every comment raging on about this treats his death with a generic little "RIP" before blasting Zoe Quinn at full force. This isn't about Alec, and it's disgusting.

This news affected me in particular because I finished up my playthrough of Night in the Woods in July. I spent about a month listening to the OST that Alec composed, and then he was dead. So right out of the gate, I felt bad for the guy and his family. I reflected on his work, and how strange it was to have been so enamored with the music he produced in such a short time before his death. I adored that game, and the death of the game's main composer and programmer was a massive body-blow.

No-one here talked about Night in the Woods in the wake of his death. No-one talked about how much they cared about his work, or reflected a whole lot on him. From day fucking dot, two weeks ago, this discourse has been about a bunch of opportunists crawling out of the woodwork to continue the fight against someone they already fucking hated. Disregarding the words of his family to spread vile rhetoric about Zoe Quinn murdering a man and getting away with it.

I don't know enough about Zoe Quinn to speak for her character, but I will say that I don't see a thread like this and think it's doing Alec Holowka or his family any justice. If you cared about this man and his family, you would stop using his death to bombard the internet with abuse. You know, like his grieving family wanted.

Can you prove me wrong? Do you have anything of substance to say about this dead person, that doesn't specifically tie into Bad Video Game Woman and this extreme rhetoric of her "murdering" him?

Or is this just another case of "Zoe Quinn Bad" that flared up after a man's tragic suicide, with you martyring him in a misguided attempt at retribution at a controversial figure on the internet?

Because from where I stand, I don't think a whole lot of people on this bandwagon ever gave much of a fuck about Alec Holowka.

I mean, IMO John Wick 2 wasn't my favorite movie ever. It was fun, and the action was good, but it felt like John was doing the same handful of moves every fight - especially the arm lock and roll. I enjoyed John Wick 1 more than I liked the sequel.

But the sequel was an excellent movie in its own right, and it was an excellent sequel, period. I just prefer the first one.

With that being said though - John Wick 3 is fucking fantastic. I think it falters a little at the end, loses a bit of steam, but this is a 2 hour long movie that nails its runtime. I remember when John gets to the Continental and teams up with Winston, and there's still 40 minutes left in the fucking movie. I was expecting them to be ramping up for one final balls-out fight that'd go on for about 20 minutes at most - but there was still so much movie left to go! And I wasn't bored shitless like with Batman V Superman, I was excited that there was still so much more movie left to go.

I will say one thing that overstayed its welcome - the bald ninja guy. I get that it's the host of Iron Chef America, that's fun and goofy, but that whole fight in the glass room took way too fucking long imo. The one thing I liked about that scene was John sparing his flunkies, but from there the sequence just continues to get kinda long and drawn out.

I also wasn't too hot on the ending - I didn't wholly dislike it, but it feels like they're setting these movies up too obviously now. Like I'm glad that Lawrence Fishburne is still alive, but John Wick 1 had a decent enough resolution and John Wick 2 ended on an excellent cliffhanger. John Wick 3, in comparison, ends kinda limply - it's not a bad ending, but I don't think it stands on its own. It's completely, unavoidably an unabashedly a sequel hook, and I didn't find it as gripping as John Wick 2's ending. It just lends itself better to making the movies flow better in the future, and I don't think I'm a fan of it. But saying that - it's not a bad ending. I'm looking forward to John Wick 4.

This movie was fucking fantastic from the word "go", and while there were parts that made me think "the only reason no-one's shooting at John Wick is because he's incapacitated and they can only move against him when he's good and ready", it was an excellent watch from start to finish. Somehow, Keanu Reeves and the folks behind these movies have created three independently excellent movies in a hard, blood n' guts action movie franchise. It's been decades since that happened.

That's fair enough. I would have still loved something a bit more substantial on the NES service, and that's from someone who got a lot of mileage out of Dr. Mario with a group of friends.

And even then, the NES library has had some pretty inspired choices. I really like City Connection and Wrecking Crew, and I love Donkey Kong Jr. But regardless of cost, I would have enjoyed some sort of RPG on the service. There may be logistics in the way, but it would have been nice regardless.

That's a possibility. I will say that Breath of Fire has a Squaresoft logo on the front due to the translation, and both the original Final Fantasy and FF6 appeared on the Nintendo Classic Consoles. Even FF7 appeared on the PlayStation Classic. They don't seem shy to lend their games to compilation services.

But I can understand this sentiment, and I wouldn't be wholly surprised if this ended up being the truth.

It doesn't blame straight white conservative males for everything. This sort of bias could happen to any large group of people with similar views, upbringings and viewpoints. It could happen in China, India, Africa - given that a majority of intelligence agents come from predominantly similar backgrounds, share predominantly similar views, follow the same religion etc. The point is that similar people share similar blind spots.

In this case, the CIA employing predominantly white guys led to a blind spot so big that they wrote Osama Bin Laden off for five years. There were signals and cultural touchpoints that similarly minded Muslims would pick up on right away, and it garnered a large response from conservative, educated Muslims - 20,000 of them. And yet a CIA executive, as late as 2000, completely disregarded Al-Qaeda as a threat.

The article posits that with a wider range of viewpoints, instead of a sheer majority of CIA employees coming from largely similar backgrounds and having largely similar viewpoints, the CIA wouldn't have had as large of a blind spot. 9/11 might have still happened, but he may not have been dismissed for as long as he was.

And the freaky part is that while the CIA have made efforts to expand their capabilities and improve demographics, potentially making that blind spot just a little bit smaller, a majority of them fit a very similar, homogenous frame of reference. While I'm sure 9/11 changed American intelligence forever, it would be a mistake not to branch out and take on more varied employees to widen the CIA's frame of reference.
